“If it ain’t broke, break it.” -US Government

DaVinci: “Tell no one my helicopter actually worked.” DeMedici: “Done.”

“A relationship is like a shark, it has to keep moving or it dies... and I think what we have here is a dead shark.”

Between this, Iraq and (South) Vietnam, we genuinely stink at “nation building” and probably should just let the UN and their peacekeeping forces do that job. But no, that won’t feed the Military Industrial Complex… we ignored Eisenhower’s warning to our peril.

OPEC to their investors: Don’t Panic. The Future: Yeah… panic.

GTA V, the characters push doors, but they seem to open both ways, still it’s better than the older GTA games where the doors just fly open when you bump into them.

Even universal PAID family leave is “controversial” politically in this country… and that’s just not right.

Maybe “local energy” needs to be a thing… with battery storage tech. Like putting solar panels on buildings to power those buildings and their neighbors.

When your military spending is 10x that of the next nation (Russia) you’re going to have a lot of extra stuff laying around. I’m waiting for an NYPD Harrier Jet.

I learned about Hand Talk from”The Mandolorian”, as Native American actors portrayed Tuskan Raiders, or Sand People, and they would communicate with Mando (and later Boba Fett) using Hand Talk to negotiate to traverse their land (something many people didn’t bother to do, and then they wondered why they were shot at.) Really sad most people don’t know that ASL was derived from Hand Talk.

Daniel Swarovski Yeah... the “American Dream” is quickly becoming only a dream for everyone that isn’t uber rich... especially because they keep trying “trickle down” tax cuts that are supposed to create new jobs, but most companies just bought back their own stocks and horded their money.
244
I liked bi-partisan America... why can’t we go back to it?
156
Greg Pecaut remember, those Democrats are not the same ones we have now... after LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act of 1965, the southern good old boy racists fled from the Democrats to the GOP, and the African-Americans started voting Democrat.

All foreign car makers that build their cars in the US (to avoid the costs and tariffs from importing) have their factories in Southern States that are unfriendly to Unions (especially the UAW.)

It needs to be: if you don’t use the “sword” you can’t have the “shield”.
68
For residential use at least, the “dry air” was replaced with argon as it works a little better.
58
Then there’s the enclosed water slide from Action Park that ended in a loop that was a perfect circle… and sent so many people to the hospital because of either whiplash, or bashing their head into some part of the inside. 🤦♂️
55
I’d like to pull an Annie Hall: “You know, I happen to have Jesus right here.” “You know nothing of my work... how you got to preach to anyone is beyond me!”
54
Right, but licensing is abused, here in NYC if I wanted a handgun, it’s at least $5000 non-refundable to apply... and there is zero guarantee of approval. Yay?
48
Not just comments, people in public have mask-shamed others, “WHY ARE YOU WEARING A MASK!” The Governor of Florida just did it to a group of High Schoolers he was meeting.
32
Defense Contractors are basically pulling the strings at the Pentagon and Congress... you cancel a large military contract, factories will close in at least 30 different states because they make sure it’s “job creating” in as many states as possible. Cut that contract, those voters lose their jobs. It’s called Political Engineering.
32
We need to show way more respect to our Native American/First Nations people. Then again, so called “civilized” people barely respect each other these days, so maybe I’m asking too much. Radioactive waste is just the tip of the iceberg, asbestos, chemical spills, toxic dust, etc... that is the legacy of allowing industries to put profits above basic safety standards!
31
@chrisofstars after 9/11 we were more united than I ever remembered. After we invaded Iraq, we were more divided than ever.
30
I have a feeling we are still centuries away from Star Trek levels of medicine. “What is this, the dark ages?” -Dr. McCoy
30
SKG that’s because there are exactly zero price controls on medicine and medical equipment... so a drug that cost $1 per pill one day can be $1000 per pill the next, just because some pharmaceutical executives think it’s “too unprofitable”.
28
Unreal Engine 4 is also being used by architects to render entire cites, so new construction can be rendered into an existing city to make for photorealistic concept “drawings” to give the public a glimpse at the future of their neighborhood.
28
Those San Jose parents will wake up one day and wonder why their kids don’t have teachers, because those teachers will move to another community where they can afford to live without having to commute from far away!
26
I’ve always said, the amount of arable land used solely for animal feed in the USA is nuts. If you switched that land to growing food for people, we’d either have a much lower food crisis, or none at all.
26
Yeah, next time to see a retired General or other officer on TV complaining about this, look up where they work NOW, it’s probably a defense contractor that would continued to profit from this forever war.
24
Temporary supports, adding in layers of new foundation as you dig down, it’s almost like digging a tunnel where right behind the open face you have crews installing mesh grids and concrete tunnel wall sections to keep the roof from caving in and killing everyone.
20
@imisstoronto3121 I would prefer that... lately it’s like “it’s 18 months to the next presidential election... so I’m announcing my run!”
18
@tylerswint2695 The ITER is still about 5 years from switching on, and there’s no guarantee it will produce more power than it uses to keep the plasma from fizzling. Plus it’s costing billions of Euros, so it not only has to work right, but be scalable to the point that it’s cheaper to build.
17
Too many people are happy driving alone for us to completely give up on the car and switch to mass transit. Just look at how many single occupant cars go out on the roads in rush hour, compared to how many use the HOV lane. At least leaving an electric car (or hydrogen, or some future clean option) as a choice will make transitioning easier.
14
Same arguments were used against the freed African-Americans, and the Irish. “They’re taking jobs away!” “Would you do this kind of work?” “…No.”
14
@mancerrss GTA VI is still probably a long way off though.
12
Many will quote the Bible: “he gave us dominion over the animals” but dominion at that time meant two things, not just “we can rule over them”, it could also mean: “take care of the animals” and not the mafia meaning of “taking care”!
12
Fun (or not so fun in this case) fact: US cluster bomblets are yellow. The ration packs we dropped as civilian aid in Afghanistan were also yellow… took us a while to realize why the people were not rushing out to pick up those ration packs, and they were recolored pink.

“Now, who here likes a good story about a bridge?” Buzz Killington

Truly a race where you don’t want to have a bad qualifying session.
10
@harrypainter7472 if we all complied and didn’t go “muh freedumb” this would have been over much earlier.

It’s the same as “smart” TVs... it’s there to mine you for your personal data so someone can sell you something via targeted advertising.

Well the first A in NASA is for Aeronautics.
8
@nromk one party system vs. 2… honestly both are not good, look at the rest of the world that has more than 2 or even 3 parties, having a coalition government (because getting a majority is not easy) helps things get done, right now the 50-50 US senate may as well have no tiebreaker option, nothing is getting done!
8
Colm Moloney I think I heard one of them was considering going metric...
7
Theory about the conspiracy theorists… what’s scarier, a shadowy group plotting to assassinate a President, or a lone actor that cannot be explained (him being dead doesn’t help that.) I think an unexplained lone actor is much scarier…
7
@lesussie2237 most banana varieties can’t survive the long trip to those markets… there was a better (and apparently tastier) variety but a parasite wiped it out, so we got stuck with Cavendish.
7
Because the amount of cleanup insurance mining companies need to start a new mine is a horribly low number that doesn’t cover squat... the laws for this are vastly outdated, but the mining lobby keeps Congress from updating it.
7
Minimum Wage: I’m going up to $15! Cost of living increase has entered the chat.
7
Meanwhile in an alternate universe, President Gore personally beheaded Bin Laden in 2002, and left the White House in a flying car in 2008.
