Fun Fact: Fox News Channel is not actually a news network. Check your cable guide, it’s listed under “Entertainment”, compare that to any other cable news channel, and it will say, “News”. This is why Fox News isn’t available in Europe, because calling themselves news is misleading. Fox is mostly opinion pieces masquerading as news... like WWE Wrestling is basically a Soap Opera masquerading as a sport.

To serve and protect… themselves. Honestly, I’m reminded of that bank robbery in Los Angeles a few decades ago where the robbers were equipped with semi-auto rifles and head to toe home made body armor. The police with their handguns and shotguns were severely outmatched and had to basically raid a gun shop to grab their own semi-auto rifles and some type of anti-body armor bullets. But in between encountering the robbers and acquiring that new gear, the police were only able to barely contain the robbers and keep the public away. This could have been the issue in Uvalde, they felt they were underpowered against someone with an AR-15.

Objection: In the “Stairway to Heaven” v “Taurus” lawsuit, I read that copyright trials don’t allow the jury to actually hear the songs, they review the sheet music since THAT is the actual copyrighted material in question. So South Park got that wrong with Chef’s lawyer holding a cassette tape.

Trump: bad for country, but the content is gold Jerry, GOLD.

Jan 20, 2021, Stan: “Mr. President it’s almost noon, please it’s time to go.” Trump: “No!” Stan: “Dad! Donald Trump won’t come out of the closet!”

I wonder if Paypal knew what Honey was doing at the time of acquiring it, or not… because maybe Paypal can sue for breach of contract as well?

What does the US government have to hide outside of REAL national security interests that our Presidents can have “Executive Privilege” or even have the NIH do work on COVID-19 in a classified room that most NIH doctors don’t have access to?
1
Apparently without him on the Foreign Relations Committee the Biden team can do more to work with Cuba and in the Middle East without him blocking every effort.

Trump: “I sell menswear too...”

You missed the judgement of “$800 billion” which the judge thought would be reduced on appeal... considering Mr. Lampwick was able to buy a “solid gold house” and a “rocket car” I’m wondering if he really did get $800 billion after all!

I believe there’s another hot coffee lawsuit that found the lid was defective and popped off, causing a spill and debilitating burns, I don’t remember which brand was involved though. (I don’t believe I’m confusing this with Kramer from Seinfeld.)

Honestly, I think the Arbitrators just wanted them out of there, 3 different Arbitrators and 17 hours… they’re lucky she finished up so quickly before they went over $10 grand in fees!

Objection: If Poison Ivy had escaped from the Asylum under an involuntary commitment, and then caught by Batman the judge could remand her back into their custody. Also, there is the argument that because Batman exists, he is a weirdness magnet for criminals looking to take him on (best example is Joker from Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight.”

The sad fact is AG Garland just said he won’t do anything about Trump’s role in the effort to overthrow the election until after the midterms. Meanwhile all the people that trespassed in the Capital on January 6th are being hunted down. One set of laws for the elites, one set for the everyday schnooks.

Candy is sold by WEIGHT, not by volume, so as long as the box weighs what it says on the box they aren’t ripping you off.

Where are those terrorism charges for all school shootings? Why isn’t that a terrorist act too?
1
@sabeoth4294 Reid did it for federal judges, McConnell expanded it to the SCOTUS. Either way it was a huge mistake, and probably a warning for those open to killing the filibuster.
1
@sabeoth4294 polls seems to say one or both will, but polls have been wrong before. I think we should wait and see how the election goes before we hand over the keys to McConnell or McCarthy (if he comes back, for all we know he could have worn out his welcome with his constituents (it is California after all).

@cooldudecs new bill would force Justices to go to a “senior” position after 18 years, they’d still be at the court, keep their offices, but only as advisers to the 9 younger justices. Out of deference for the current Court the replacement for the longest sitting judges would be scheduled for the 1st and 3rd year of the Presidential term starting in 2024.

Unless Will and Chris are in the middle of a Barney Stinson sanctioned slap bet…

1st amendment only stops the GOVERNMENT from censoring you... too many people think it’s a universal protection and they can do anything they want anytime, anywhere, and then get mad when they are told, “No, this is a private business, the 1st amendment doesn’t apply here.”

According to my dad, his 1967 Pontiac GTO had stock cutouts with a switch in the center console. His friend figured out how to wire them open permanently. (This was the 1970s so it may have been legal back then.)

Trump still hasn’t paid Rudy, so Rudy went on Cameo to scam the money from Trump’s fans… Actually that’s what Trump has been doing since he lost anyway! Smart move Rudy.

We actually had a mock court room in Junior high, jury box, judge’s platform, witness box, defense and plaintiff tables, and even a space for a (fake) stenographer. Of course we were a little (or a lot) fast and loose with how a trial would actually go... and we ended up with probably more hung juries than in reality because of that. And while I’m not a lawyer, I am a paralegal working in city administrative law.

I for one welcome our new AI Lawyerbot overlords.

Never been on a jury, but I sure wouldn’t blab something that might result in a verdict getting tossed!

Not sure how this department works, but in the NYPD there are certain disqualifying events that can make you lose your job. A felony conviction is pretty obvious, but there are also "Oath of Office Violations" like perjury, and giving false testimony in court, since now you're unreliable to any prosecutor in the city and can't testify in court because the defense council WILL use that during cross-examination to help their client. There are no penalties for lying to the public on the street though, as long as you stay courteous while doing it.

I haven't bought Nike for 25 years, someone did buy my daughter a pair... She wore them twice, only when we know that person was around, but the colors were hideously clashy, a piece of trim peeled off, and we "retired" them after that.

...and as the series “Picard” showed, Commander Maddox did end up with B-4, a prototype of Data, which he did disassemble and copy into a slave race of “synths” who, being much more basic than Data, were hacked by... someone... and ended up destroying Mars and the orbiting shipyards so badly that the planet was still on fire 10 years later. Whoops!

Got one of these for a lawsuit involving my health insurance provider, did the math on the size of the settlement, the amount of the people in the class, and what I’d get… the grand sum of $5. 🤷♂️

My ruling: unless you also go by MC, you can’t call yourself Hammer.

@The Lonely Proto yes, but if you do it wrong, you can cause a lot of damage.

The UN Security Council is supposed to stop things like this… but the 5 members with veto power (as built into the charter) included the USSR, which the UN recognizes now as the Russian seat. Being able to veto anything, even things involving Russia (because there’s no rule about conflict of interest) means Russia has effectively handcuffed the UN Security Council. Many other nations tried to amend the Charter to remove the 5 vetos and expand the number of seats available on the Security Council… it went nowhere. There is a mechanism to remove a UN member state that constantly violates the charter, as Russia has been doing. The General Assembly can vote them out… but then the security council has to vote on it too… and I’m guessing Russia will still be allowed to veto that! 🤦♂️

That cheap cost to send shipping from the US to Asia is what’s causing the backup in Long Beach, CA, nobody wants to take the empty containers back to Asia, so they are piling up literally everywhere (companies are abandoning them in the streets), and in Asia there’s less containers to use. China is rushing to make more, but that might just make things worse. (The largest ships can hold about 20,000 40 foot long containers!)

The music punishment was fine until it got to Barney the Dinosaur… thats torture.

I wouldn’t be shocked if that teachers son wound up being a Harvey Weinstein type... or a sex criminal.... and watch his mom blame society.

This boils down to, just because you can arm up and go to a protest/riot area, doesn’t necessarily mean you should. I certainly would not, first since I have zero experience with firearms outside of GTA games, and the cops and the national guard can probably do a way better job than someone untrained for these situations. (and I don’t mean “training” Militia guys do in the woods with paintball guns on weekends.) Second, I have a wife and kid, I’d rather stay home so I’m not getting arrested or shot by somebody.

Haunted mansion? Luigi has left the chat.

So while he can (and should resign), the Governor of New York can legally remove him if she feels he can no longer perform his job as Mayor. The Public Advocate would replace him as Interim Mayor, but must declare a date for a Special Election within 3 days of assuming office.

I don’t know what the FDA is doing, but food tastes so much better everywhere else I’ve been! And it seems to be much healthier as if I’m away for some time I feel better and I’ve lost some weight! Maybe make our food better, and stop ragging on food from other places FDA?

“No taxation without representation” would help out so many American Expats living overseas. (The only other nation that taxes expats? Eritrea. AND the US has the gall to call them out for doing it!)

I’d ask the Nevada AG to foist all of Nevada’s law as on every other state too... casinos for everyone!

Fox News is not a news source... It's an opinion channel... Like most 24/7 "news" channels.

How? We elected a celebrity with ZERO political experience to the highest office in the land in 2016, and he was manipulated into installing Federalist Society favorites on the SCOTUS 3 times thanks to Mitch McConnell’s desperate ploy to make the court a political wing of his party, that’s how! No more celebrity Presidents! Edit: Also, dropping the 60 vote requirement for court picks made it much easier to pick someone less palatable to the minority party in the Senate.

Sorry Devin, your Trump sounds like a character from South Park, Mmkay.

@terrathunderstorms3701 as opposed to certain Christians looking to impose their take on Sharia Law on everyone? Here’s a religious conundrum: we were granted Free Will by our creator… then why is pretty much everything under the sun considered SINS? You can’t give me free reign to live, but then set up a long course of trip wires and land mines that set me up to fail and be condemned to so post-life eternal suffering!
1
Teflon Donny Trump, like John Gotti, will have something stick to him… eventually. Is it going to be this? The Feds did pass on prosecuting this exact same thing. Honestly I think “find me votes” in Georgia and/or his stealing classified documents and lying about not having any will probably be stronger cases.
