I drive a pickup. As far as handling goes, I'm not going to feel it 😆
2
Before even watching, because it's 2021 and there are supply chain issues 🤣
2
Why did they have to make the rear end look like a Honda is my question
2
I definitely was not aware of these issues. Luckily I have a NA V8 DI engine so some of these aren't a problem.
2
And with this video dodge no longer invites Jason to any events or loans him any cars 😆
2
So the biggest issue with the Tesla brakes is the ability to dissipate heat to prevent brake fade if I understood all of this correctly.
2
I'll take AWD on all seasons. I don't want to be having to swap tires twice a year
2
@youssubernfissi5559 everything involved in making this video, and making this video as fair as possible
2
I was thinking the same thing!
2
So we could be getting better fuel economy if the base stock was the same and cars were designed to expect that. 🤔
2
Now if the car could make ppl put down their phones...
2
Electronic steering = steer by wire?
2
Tesla fan boys need to realize you aren't hating on Tesla. Me on the other hand, I hate Tesla and it's dispicable founder musk. Go ahead, let me have it fan boys!
2
Do you do other topics other than cars? I ask this seriously as the name of this channel is engineering explained which is way more than just cars. None the less, you do a good job explaining these topics.
2
@zelenskysboot361 I think it's called the Omega turbine engine, but I'm not 100% sure
2
I'm not going to spend much time on the white board.... Spends a quarter of the video on the whiteboard 😂
2
I think lucid survives because there is just too much Saudi backed money to fail at this point.
2
I'm no longer excited by the conventional rotary. The Omega 1 rotary engine is way more advanced.
2
I swear you wanted to be a comedian with all that snarky humor randomly thrown in!
2
Who else was yelling at their screen every time he said throttle pedal instead of throttle body?
2
@extragoode most people will hopefully charge at night anyways.
2
Didn't Ford have variable steering ratio by adjusting the amount of power assist based upon speed?
2
Or your heater core just randomly blows up as your driving without warning filling your car with hot steam having you stopping wherever you are trying to get out as quickly as possible.
2
So..... There is no perfect battery
1
It really does seem like an awesome truck. Sadly it's way overpriced. 70k starting for a midsized truck that isn't luxury. No way I'm buying it.
1
@lattelandlatteland I get the batteries are expensive. This does make the Ford look like a bargain though. At least when you spend this much you are getting luxury materials on the inside in a full size truck. 60k is the max I can see a mid sized gas truck going for. 70 is the max on an electric mid sized truck. But there are people out there willing to pay this and with constrained supply there is no reason for them to keep the prices down.
1
It's not a joke.... Just because it exists doesn't mean it's not a joke. It's definitely still a joke.
1
But Jason, you're making an assumption that the 5mpg car gets driven just as often as the other 50mpg cars!
1
The only way hydrogen in general makes sense to me is if it becomes cost effective to generate it at home using solar plus onsite generation at fueling stations. I have heard of a guy doing it at home, but never verified it.
1
@wiegraf9009 you mean a guy with his own home built at home setup.... Yeah, it absolutely does.
1
Is there a joke in here about when an engineer tries to make jokes? 😉
1
So... I'm assuming that we left the tire diameter the same. What happens if we leave wheel diameter the same and go to a larger or smaller wheel diameter? My thoughts are a larger tire diameter means less rpm to go a certain distance requiring less energy. But I have a feeling that I'm leaving out some other forces that would negate that.
1
I don't understand why GM doesn't do quality assurance checks on parts provided by suppliers.
1
Welcome back, white board!
1
@AlldaylongRock lucid starts at $77400 and you still get the same packaging. Just less range and less power for the most part along with some luxury features
1
NorthernChev it removes the parasitic drag on the engine. You already have an alternator. This one is probably a little bit bigger, but that increase in size will create less losses than adding a supercharger.
1
@peejayem4700 if only they had made it attractive 😆
1
@josephn944 the problem though is the battery pack weighs 2k pounds and the rest of the vehicle 3k pounds. Why does the rest need to weigh that much?
1
50k for a frumpy looking hot hatch? Ummm, no thanks.
1
@homebrew1709 I think a 13 old would design something better, but yeah, I agree
1
Despite how bad this video was, I'm impressed with Jason's ability to write mirrored so we can read it. Well, sort of.....
1
Her sweet spot is when it's really stiff...
1
It would have been an interesting data point for the old car on old tires. Doesn't really prove anything additional, just would be interesting to see.
1
OMG! Epic April Fools!
1
That's a very click baiting title, but I clicked anyways!
1
@EngineeringExplained can we settle on sensational? I really didn't mean it in the sense of you get something else. Just that it's going to attract a lot of attention from people who will be calling you a moron before even watching the video. I pretty much knew though that you were going to conclude with the watt being the unit that makes sense before watching, but I also know many car enthusiasts that are going to be fuming at that title!
1
@BeefIngot I meant it by the attract attention and not the very negative version which is essentially a fraudulent link/title.
1
I figured it wouldn't be a practical application. I think the practical application for hydrogen fuel cells is going to be in semis that have the space to store the fuel and need to fill up quickly.
1
All of that just to come to the point of different testing methods in imperfect environments where you can't control all your variables leads to different results
1
It's more about manifold air density than boost. Boost is just one component of MAD.
