By the end of this video, I realized how powerful the lesson was. You are completely on point about how the political-military machine that enabled illegal wars (Mexican-American, Spanish-American, Philippine-American Wars + Cuban Cold War) is still present and a hair-triggers pull away. And the Bush Administration and the 2003 Iraq War was a perfect example to end with. Truly masterful historical storytelling.

Well, to be fair, the CIA got nerfed after the fall of the Soviet Union. But you are absolutely right about the FBI. The NSA, too. Post 9/11, the FBI and the NSA became absurdly more powerful.

It would have also been great to include a section for US-Vietnamese relations as Vietnam is also a crucial First Island Chain ally. Militarily, the two are finally doing what they should have done in the last century.... being allies & jointly containing China.

To avoid an overly-skeptic public that loses trust in government institutions, transparency is key. The FBI and CIA should have been transparent about information they had relating to Oswald and the assassination. Maybe then, so many Americans wouldn't have rejected their government and embraced conspiracy theories.

@pickerooni6247 Stop denying wealth inequality.

Honest, transparent, credible journalism. This level of trustworthy reporting is too rare.

I don't have anything to add other than what I already stated on this matter of humanity. But seeing these comments of people who can confirm this video through their own experiences in Qatar is surreal. Thank you, (Lord) Johnny Harris and team. Thank you, everyone, that watched and commented.

This was surprisingly one of Johnny Harris's most entertaining videos.
47
I love how Johnny entrenches himself with curiosity for each one of his projects. It is a characteristic that makes him a strong journalist.
47
Johnny always interesting deep dives on topics like this, especially about the US Government. The team's journalism is independent, so they can only cover on topic every 2 weeks. If they haven't reported on something it's because they haven't gotten to it yet.
41
@johnnyharris Can't wait! Not enough people are talking about Myanmar anymore.
41
Thanks for the timely, relevant, and most importantly unbiased/neutral independent journalism. 90% of the news media that reports on Israel/Palestine has a special interest in the conflict, or try to sugarcoat facts so as not to provoke backlash. I hope Johnny and his team keep going strong and honest.

Same for us Tigrayans. Sudan took in several Tigrayan refugees fleeing genocide when nobody else would. I am praying for the Sudanese people and especially for the people who just wanted less violence & less poverty.
21
Hey, Johnny and team. Great video. I really appreciate these macroeconomic explainers. They really help analyze issues that impact all of our lives in a concise way. As usual, keep up the incredible work!
21
Can we just talk about how quick of a learner Johnny is? It's pretty impressive. Props to him and the Swiss "instructors".
20
This is the reason I follow this man and his amazing team.

"You'll be made a fool" and "I don't wanna be a sucker" sure didn't age well. Donald turned this into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

My favorite part of this series has been how you have asked and tried to answer very deep questions about the history of colonization and the way we modern humans living in the 21st century see it. Many people think the way the world is now was always meant to be and so the future is also meant to be in a certain way. This perspective is very tunnel-visioned. If just a few things were different, everything would be different in our modern day. So a few, well-position changes done today can make the future unrecognizable from the current trajectory of today, as well. Kudos, Johnny Harris.

@PedroLucas-fk4dc That's a far conclusion to jump to.
17
Nationwide, Puerto Rican veterans represent 6.8% of Puerto Rico's total population. Moreover, including reserve & active duty personnel, about 20% to 29% of all Puerto Ricans have served or are serving in the US Armed Forces. Freeloaders? More like veterans & servicemen.
16
Sounds like a legally-enforceable contract to me.

As an immigrant from Africa, I agree.

Are lies the only you think you got? BTW she only sent 45 people away for marijuana, the rest were let go with a slap on the wrist.

Essentially, anarchic capitalism.

@HappyDayRoots I've lost all faith in Boeing. Instead of reforming their failing company, they are killing off the "snitch".

Hi, Tigrayan here. The difference is that the drones used in the Tigray War by the National Military were conventional warfare drones bought from Middle Eastern countries. Those drones were primarily used for recon and to bomb civilian population centers with impunity since the Tigray Defense Force was only an army, and were based in the mountains. In Ukraine, yes there are conventional warfare drones, but this video is about the jerryrigging of cheap commercial drones for warfare that is unique to the Ukraine War.
12
@AL-lh2ht Ignoring sterilization? How about we talk about that first since that's the more pressing topic.
11
That is why the ROC still claims all of the mainland, Mongolia (not as much anymore tho), Tibet, Xinjang, and some Japanese-administered islands.
10
Most likely the "evidence" is fake. Nothing good comes from pinning black men against each other. Stay focused on the bigger picture.
10
@Asha-wj7ko Of course, they were. The Turks migrated from Central Asia and across Anatolia (similar to the Mongol Conquest). Meanwhile, the Kurds have always lived across the Zagros Mountains and Eastern Anatolia.
10
I agree. He had to balance objectivity with a whole lotta personal connection.

I like how Johnny made this important, unbiased, nuanced video over a year ago -- and the US Government is only now looking at this objectively. (Well, semi-objectivity due to the inter-agency disputes.)
9
I see pirate groups the same way I see governments around the world. Some are corrupt, exploitative, and belligerent; others are disciplined, accountable, and reasonable. Either way, none are a monolith. The only major difference between the two is the political spectrum of order to anarchy.
9
Timely, relevant, concise investigative journalism.

As a One Piece fan, with the climax of the Wano arc wrapped up, you couldn't have picked a better time to release a video essay on piracy. "Yarodomo, shukkou da!!" -- Luffy
9
This video is about Coups; but it is also a deep, somber introspective into the human and democratic loss as a consequence of geopolitics. Since history is easier to detach from, this realization became even more impactful when we got to the more recent coups -- especially regarding the effects of US support for the mujahideen back in the 80s.
9
JH already made a video for almost every operation and topic mentioned in this video. Feel free to search through the catalog.

Two opposing ideologies from two great man. Both fighting for the betterment of society.

The US diplomatically supports Brazilian Democracy but doesn't do enough economically which is where China & BRICS step in.

"You want my treasure? You can have it! I put everything I have in one piece. Now you just have to find it!"
8
Damn it Johnny. The way you titled this video attracted so many CCP bots
8
As this guy's quartermaster, I can confirm this is true.
8
@bengiyardimli1925 Very passive-aggressive, indeed. I swear, hella people on the internet just want him to make videos on their whims.
8
It's hard being a YouTuber, but it is evident that Johnny cares about and appreciates the high-held quality of his production -- both narratively and factually speaking.
8
It felt like I was watching a spy movie😎🔍

Wendover Productions made an in-depth video about the logistics of how the walls and all the robust security got bulldozed through by Hamas. But of course, YouTube took down the video for being too educational. He might try to release it again but watered down to pass the guidelines. I'm sure the original video is on the Wendover channel of Nebula, tho.

@@NebulousVideos Never put Thomas Edison on the same pedestal as a real genius like Nikolai Tesla.

@619ry7 What do you get from spreading hate. My brother graduated with a STEM degree, and he is in a similar position. So whatever point you were trying to make, it has more holes than swiss cheese.
6
@k-studio8112 That's the KMT hardliners. If you have noticed, Taiwan is now a democracy governed by the DPP. Most Taiwanese just ignore the claims. Unlike China. So much for your whataboutism
