  20.  @Zripas  Some flattards can construct coherent sentences, and appear capable of understanding. However, there are intrapsychic/personality variables at play as well. Someone has got to them and convinced them that their bible has all the answers (as revealed to them), or that their government/teachers/scientists/etc have been lying to them all their lives (or both), and this has helped them to reject their basic physics and related education in favor of an alternative, easy to understand "reality", in this case, a flat Earth. The conversion has been of an emotional nature and not a logical, science based one, hence the difficulty in getting them to respond to attempts to educate them. You can't remove with reason what was put there by faith.

  29. @Cardinal RG The number of variables to contend with, and the physics and math that explain and predict how to manage them, make for a fairly complex environment (including the aircraft). The guys who learned by experience alone when aloft demonstrated just how complex is the human mind that, for some, identifies and manages the various inputs and required consequent outputs. I felt sorry for guys like Yeager who had aircraft "seat of the pants" flying skill way beyond that of ordinary pilots, but who became increasingly marginalized when flying became more technological and required a good grasp of math and aeronautics - all because they lacked the intellectual capacity to learn such things to the required level.

You don't need a brain to believe in a flat Earth, or to vote Democrat/Republican. Something else brought the dumbasses to their FE commitment. Maybe it's a transplanted prior belief that they have been lied to all their lives by "the government, Jews, teachers, "the illuminati", scientists, NASA, etc, etc, and that they must reject all messages from those sources.
