What do they mean "bleeding out internally"? Babies that implant outside the uterus are also unable to survive and would be a threat to the mother, so that would be covered. Plus, with Winchester's social status, bankers may have been friends of the family. There's always going to be an exception to the rule, (the "free black who owned slaves" for example), but it's dishonest to use these rare situations to pretend that oppression is a "choice".
