@arconte2100 I highly doubt they are going to reach those numbers, the 2050 predictions seem bloated already, let alone 2100, global warming, economic prosperity, education, urbanisation, wars and civil wars, water shortages and a less globalistic western world and aging in most of the rest of the world does not seem like those predictions will hold on, sure their population will still rise but I doubt they will reach 4 billion, that's insane.

@lif3andthings763 african colonies were pretty much more expensive then they were worth, the realy profitable colonies were in south america and in souht-east asia, in africa it was mostly rubber, diamonds, gold and slaves, but it varies per nation and perhaps part of africa. in south africa the colonialism was very different from other parts like in the congo which was quite cruel but for the most part the scramble for africa was quite weak and most of the borders drawn were just imagined lines with very little actual influence on those spots and almost always via proxy groups there. whatifhistory channel made a good video in which he explains why it was not as bad as people think and why. https://youtu.be/cjkJ6YuEoE4?t=642

is immigration a benefit or a burden? because it seems to be both depending on who and why you let them in, canada with their state enforced multicultralism mostly have let in unskilled workers unless im mistaken, there seems to be a agenda going on that's anti white and to the benefit of leftwing parties, rather than any economic benefit. this is not some ''conspiracy theory'' but just a logical observation, hell if I were a leftist and knew which demografics would vote for my party most of the time, of course I would demand more immigration from those places rather than say help the white farmers in south africa or allow people from Hong Kong who are mostly rightwing. please correct me if im wrong but this seems to be the case for most of the western world, esspecial countries like canada, the UK and sweden.

USA indeed does not care about dictatorships, socialism or even fascism but if they can't trade, influence or stabalize the region, war becomes their only tool to work with. @Sam Wallace you mean their anti LGBT stance? Most of the EU supports poland is everything else, not sure what you mean, hell more polish citizens are in favor of stronger EU than many wealthy western EU members.

@Sam Wallace NGO's always do that, they get paid to further those causes (they don't have to live with the results of their actions) but the EU has been largely in support of the Polish military and border guard, at best they ask if the Polish guard would stop shooting or harrasing human rights groups from feeding or clothing the refugees, that's not exactly opposition to what Poland is doing just mild criticism, in 2015 they would have threatened with sanctions now they give money to help support the Polish, unless im missing something here.

@orkhepaj mostly luck realy and bad command choices by the jappanese admiraals but it does not matter, even if the USA lost at midway which was a real possability, the USA would just make a new fleet in a few years and go again, the industrial power of the USA is where it's true power always was and right now most of that is in China.

I can only speak for myself but I have noticed a shift within populist and nationalist movements across Europe, a few years ago before brexit the narrative was that the EU must go down and be destroyed, as the USA have been engaging in Iran, putting sanctions on Russia and Germany, the trade war between the US and China and the instability caused with brexit in the UK, the narrative has shifted from wanting to leave the EU to wanting to reform the EU or subvert it from within, many of the old populist parties are dying down while new populist parties who are more moderate and pragmatic seem to be rising up. I think in the end the EU will try and to woe the nationalist parties to aline with their pan-European ideals, which in my mind was the point of brexit, shake up the establishment and balance the overrepresentation of leftwing and pro corporate policies in the EU. also NATO needs to be reformed of be disolved, as the USA no longer has our best intrest at heart and openly warmongers yet again against Iran.

@yarpen26 I think your forgeting the biggest player and reason why Russia acts the way it does in regards to their relations with China and Europe which is NATO aka the USA. It's very much in US intrest to keep Russia and Europe divided, they don't want good relations, they don't want war they want unproductive relations and openly seek to sanction, harras, enforce and promote bad trade relations and military stand off, that way Europe is dependent on US protection, while the Russian economy continues to stagnate, they don't care if China becomes more powerfull in the process as long as Europe remains a close ally the USA maintains it's hegomony. Europe would benefit greatly if Russian and EU relations were good, all that land, resources and people could be mutual beneficial, problem would be that Russia would have great influence on EU policy which currently we don't trust but as we see with Nordstream 1 and 2, trade is improving which is the first steps needed for improvement, still a long way to go though.

other than sanctions the USA can't do much els and is losing on many fronts thanks to Russia, I love Donald Trump btw he is dividing US allies in Europe and making Russia seem like a more stable and usefull ally in both trade and military projects.

I would worry a lot more about US actions towards Russia, the USA likes to target the rich leaders and freeze funds of it's national economic leaders and targeting their military production/sales. so unless you deal in weapons, build gas pipelines or work for the goverment i think your safe.

@Eric Hughes Russia is largely capitalist, why you think the USA has sanctions? The USA does not want good trading relations between Europe and Russia, that threatens US power projection.

hey if a water shortage comes about due to China, where are those fleeing people going to go to? perhaps China? China's demographics do look bad but what they do have is focus on whatever the CCP says is best and a very commited population, I have no doubt the CCP is going to turn back woman's right and encourage men to marry woman outside of China to both import and grow the population and unlike in western Europe they only want people who work and assimulate to Chinese culture and government policy.

@maverick7291 to have a fair deal, one must have equal value and leverage, if one side is a wealthy, western nation and the other is a poor, often corrupt nation then the stronger power will always try and get the best deal for them, that's just the nature of economics, power and international dealings, im sure as time goes on better deals will be made but they can only be made with equals. it is, what it is, some deals are better than others though.

@lif3andthings763 they invested a lot in colonies which all collapsed soon after they left, there are a lot of books on the subject. The USA was not interested in seeing colonies ruled by european powers anymore, since each nation had different forms of colonialism, the USA believed these places could become modern nation states and thought that they would be so greatfull to not fall for communism and embrace capitalism, in many parts of africa and the far east the opposite happened, so it was a miscalculation on their part. The Marshall plan was the means for USA to help rebuild Europe and without colonies holding them back or diverting investment these places rapidly grew. After decades of civil wars, brutal conflicts and dictatorships, now africa is developing, how? By investment from western nations, China and stabalized african nations after the shock of decolonisation. If it was so great for them why did it took this long to recover from that? Why did they devolve into civil wars and country wars? And why is it that neo-colonialism now is helping their economies grow?

@Janoip yeah the current new government kinda sucks on some of these issues, the greens hate nuclear energy which makes them more dependent on Russian gas, the SPD are a bit of a mixed bag but they too are more in favor of gas over nuclear and less hostile towards Russia but even then they do seem more in favor of EU federalization which might get going around 2025 depending on current developments. The USA right now is a bit of a joke and looks very weak towards Russia and China, I fear Russia is going to invade Ukraine and we are all going to do nothing about it, not the USA or Germany, most leadership right now is very naive and short sighted.

@meh meh Merkel has been quite the disaster for sure but regardless of the EU, Russia and China would have influence regardless, the issue is that Merkel and the EU has been playing into their hands as well as a weakened and disfunctional USA not setting a good example for allies to follow.

@ogc9649 you are mad if you think that, when rebels too parts of syria the citizen fled to Assad, the west lied over and over again about gas attacks while israel attacked military bases of Syria. The people started to flee on mass when the syria government could no longer provide for all the millions of refugies. You are spreading propaganda, there are plenty of video's online of people cheering in the streets because assad has won in idlib.

Well it did work for many other nations but it seems without military occupation these states slip back into authoritarianism. Germany today for example is still very authoritarian, despite the US and rest of Europes best efforts.
