  4. An English literature course should be restricted to strictly English literature. Advanced courses could be Classic English Literature, Empire English Literature and Modern English Literature. If you want to have a diverse poetry course just call it World Poetry. I hated poetry in school although I did write some decent stuff.

  12. ​ @blondequijote  I don't think any sane person likes paying taxes. But I think sane rational people also realize that taxes are needed for a functioning society. The problem is the "money junkies" in Washington or London or Aukland (?) Or Canberra or any other place where you have national, state or provincial legislatures can always justify in their minds a tax increase. As to sin taxes if all monies raised from said sin taxes went to combating social or public health issues caused by those "vices" it would be one thing. But alas such sin taxes just go into the general fund.

  22. Japan does face a major demographic problem of an aging population without enough young people entering the workforce. There are only two ways out of that problem. Increased automation. Or immigration of outsiders. If they are going to allow immigrants they would be better off allowing workers from SE Asian countries such as Vietnam, the Phillipines and not from South Asian countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh or Afghanistan.

But the 240V is still available for electric hot water, heat and appliances. Most industrial facilities use 480V *Even the screw in base on light bulbs is a legacy thing. Going back to Edison.
