  3. In Cornwall's trilogy the narrator is a Saxon orphan who is raised in Merlin's household. He becomes a warrior in Celtic Britian. Arthur is not a king but a war leader. The book series is excellent as much of Cornwall's historical fiction is. While the series is a work of fiction it takes place during the period when Celtic Britian was undergoing colonization by the Angles, Saxons and Jutes from what is today northern Germany and Denmark.

  12.  @crowdpleaser1036  From an outsider's perspective it seems a lot of the initial push for more immigration arose out of labor shortages and a supposed jobs (insert nationality) are willing to do. Much of Western Europeis going through a demographic crisis. An aging population with a falling birth rate amongst the native population. Some of the aging population is due to longer life spans. Another part of it in my opinion is the relatively large number of people starting with the Boomers but hot li ited to them that actively decided to not have children. Or stop at one. No matter the reasons stated in my opinion it stems more from selfishness. The I'm not going to put my life on hold for kids attitude.

  21. Just think how peaceful the Middle East could be today if post WWll the nations there had welcomed Jewish refugees seeking a safe haven following the experience of the Holocaust (1). Welcoming a population of educated and skilled individuals could have done wonders for their economies. 1) l say could instead of would because playing that game is little more than wishful thinking.

What they define as progress will only result in universal poverty**. And they act like fascists when they seek to restrict the right of free speech of others. If they want to protest or chant. Fine. They have that right. What they do not have the right to do is. 1) Limit the freedom of movement of other people involved in their lawful business. 2) Shut down the speech of others because they judge it hateful, racist, transphobic, homophobic or any other excuse they can dream up. *l am not saying the West gets off Scot free. There are people and nations in the West that have done despicable things. Yet these "progressives" would ignore everything good the West has given humanity. And toss it in the trash bin for a failed political philosophy. A philosophy that fails because it ignores the very nature of human beings. **Tax the rich will become a sliding scale. Once the billionaires are taxed out of existence they will set their sights on the millionaires. Until they eventually get down to anyone who has any savings period.

  26. I used to work for a company here in the US that builds and services machinery and systems for dealing with "waste" (1). The primary side of the business was dewatering machinery for "sludge". Sludge is what is left after sewage plants are finished with the bio side of treatment. If you want to get the solids (poop once it goes through the digesters) you need to dewater it. There are a number of ways to do this. One of the most efficient are large industrial centrifuges. That is what we built. Since I retired l think they are currently building machines with a diameter of around 1 meter on their spin axis. We also built machines for the oil recovery industry, various food and meat processing applications etc. The owner and founder had two sayings. If we had a job that came in that did not smell of roses. The saying for that was "it smells like money". The other was. "lt's a growth industry. Every year there are more people and they all poop. And somebody has to do something with it." 1) There us no such thing as "waste". What most call waste is simply a resource that no one has found a use for. Or is looking for an economical process to employ to that use. The chemical side of the PetroChrmical industry largely derives from research into finding uses for the gunk left over from refining petroleum. The problem comes from the people and governments that just look at "waste" and decide the cheapest option is to just dump it somewhere.

  32. I can see why someone living in Pakistan etc might want to immigrate. But being willing to immigrate should mean being willing to adapt to the society of the country you immigrate to. This does not mean that someone from Pakistan or Afghanistan needs to become a three piece suit bowler wearing Englishman or Western cowboy if they immigrate to Wyoming. It also does not mean that England or Wyoming have to change their society to accommodate the immigrant. When in Rome after all. In times past cousin marriages were likely common in some societies simply due to isolation. That should not be a problem in any society today simply because of the greater degree of mobility we enjoy. Unless of course someone immigrates and then chooses to recreate the society they fled.

Hillary Clinton once wanted to ban private ownership of any tool that could be used to modify a firearm (1). It had to be explainded to her that would include any tool down to files and hacksaws. It frosts my backside whenever the oh so morally superior take it upon themselves to judge or belittle anothers persons interests, hobbies or pastimes (2). Just because you or l may think their interest is silly does not give us the right to judge them. As long as they hurt no one it is no the bodies business. Of course if someone does cause physical harm with a pefectly legal object then the government will step in to save us from ouselves. Overstep more likely. 1) We will leave aside the question of whether someone believes that a private individual should be allowed to own firearms. 2) One prime example is "grown men playing with trains" for model railroaders or as you call them in the UK model railways.

That the host should change their own society to accommodate them. That they seek to recreate the society they left. The UK is commiting slow suicide. One day the Ethnic British will wake up a minority in their own country. Now let's get to the origin of the Palestinian refugees. In 1948 when the UN created Israel and Palestine out of the British Mandate the first thing the Arab states in the region did was attack Israel. At the same time they asked all the Palestinians in the region to evacuate. With the promise that they would be back home in days. It didn't quite work out that way did it. Instead of absorbing the refugees they kept them in squalid refugee camps. Refusing to give them citizenship.

Regardless of how one feels about various religous sects within Cristianity or other religions. If one does believe in individual freedom then one must respect the rights of those other individuals. There are a couple of buts here of course. The first is those individuals must respect your rights.   40. I really don't care if Neaneerthal had heavily melanated skin or not. The same goes for Cheddar Man or the Old European Hunter Gatherers. Heavily Melanated skindoesnot mean they were culturally like Sub Saharan Africans. When l was a wee sprout the neighbor across the street came home after being stationed for two years in Libia. He was tanned darker than a lot of so called blacks. In my opinion the only way to judge the actual state of a persons normal skin color is at birth or areas on their body that never sees the direct sunshine.

There are other similar cases. When the civil war (1) in Sudan became news worthy the left largely ignored it. Why?   49. Its a video game. They can make up what ever they want. The problem arises with people so shallow they accept it as reality. The same with Britian has Always Been a Nation of Immigrants. To a degree that's true. Over the last few millennia there have been a few waves of immigration into Britain (and back and forth between Britian and Ireland). The early Celts probably moved in and changed the previous Bell Beaker culture. The Angles, Jutes and Saxons immigration certainly changed the culture of Southern England. As did Danes and Norwegians in the North. The Normans certainly put their own veneer over Britain. But in each of these immigrations the native population was never pushed aside. Languages may have have changed. Religions changed starting with Christian Romans. But the immigrations were more like close genetic cousins moving in next door.
