Amy should have included Romantic in her list of Chomsky's credits.

I love Bernie...but the idea that we are "moving towards" an Oligarchy? Come on. The Oligarchy is in place and the few ruling over the many is how it has always been, with a few exceptions) through recorded history. Things were pulled back towards the many during the fifties and sixties, but between the Old Order and the Neo-Liberalists, the Oligarch's came back with a vengeance. It's good to fight, but we need to be honest about the war being fought.

@jenster29 HA!

Four years later and you can say the same thing about Biden - I still suspect old Bankrupt Donny just might get his second term. It will be fascinating to see what happens if he doesn't!

He shouldn't feel like he was raped - he was raped. Should this be true, and I have no reason to doubt that it is, then any officers involved need to be prosecuted for rape among other charges. But cops literally get away with murder and have been for as long as there have been groups of humans getting together and calling themselves "the Law" so sexually assaulting someone is small potatoes to these pieces of shit. And while it may be only the few that are doing evil things, until the many refuse to stop the few then fuck 'em all.

Absolutely - totally should have let the Japanese invade and take over during WW2.

Especially at every NRA rally and convention like the one happening this weekend in Houston. They are already happening I hope more people can attend.

@barrycalvert8219 That's how you interpreted their post? That's dark, man. The OP is obviously pointing out hypocrisy - not whatabouting or saying anyone using cluster munitions is okay.
1
The biosphere is changing, not the planet. And the fault is with us directly less than the specific economic system at play. 8 billion communists would trash the planet much as would 8 billion capitalists - the problem is the 8 billion people part.
1
Still think someone needs to post Gosar's face on Ned Beatty or Ving Rhames from their respective rape scenes in Deliverance and Pulp Fiction and see if he's cool with it.

Or eat animal produce that comes from humanely raised livestock and meat that was killed as humanely as possible. It's more expensive, but unless you can go hunting and fishing for wild animals, it's the next best option. And the food often tastes better to my palate. If the vast majority of us who do eat animals and animal produce are monsters for eating even an oyster or a bit of cheese then we might as well be well fed monsters and eat what we like. The activist vegan is often their own worst enemy.

Get back -- touch myself - heyyy!

@raymondsalman2096 All caps - dead giveaway. And if you are going to do a whataboutism you need to answer the original question first. You're kind of a mess aren't you, my dude? Those bad manners are a sure sign of bad parents - sorry you had such a rough childhood.

Gang Of Psychos (or other disparaging "P" words) Goons On Parade

Hillary and her husband took care of that all by themselves. Madeline Albright was spot on in 2016 when she said that there is a special place in hell for women who don't support eachother. Twenty-nine years ago next month Hillary said in a "60 Minutes" interview “I’m not sitting here some little woman standing by my man like Tammy Wynette.” But stand by him she did then, right through the Lewinsky scandal, and up to this day and a lot of women saw right through her BS. It's one of the reasons so many were willing to vote for a POS like old Bankrupt Donny.

@Rose Lipton I'm not sure how to explain it to make it any more clear. Maybe someone else will be able to help.
1
So much bad news - wish we had a bit more good.

Geopolitics. India is a nuclear nation with a space program and over a billion people and they don't hate the US as much as other countries in the region do.
1
because those damned greedy sick people had better think twice before going to see the doctor - maybe even three or four times.
1
@Elvin Burnett True words one and all, my friend. Then again, with the kakistocracy we have that might not be such a bad option.
1
I'm not saying anyone should take the law into their own hands and kill these people, but I certainly would understand why if it happened. I'm often surprised we don't see more of it.
1
Where'd that come from?

7:15 - guys looks startled.

The legal system thrives on victimizing people who have already been victimized. Look up the case of Bobbie Sapp in Winter Park, Florida. Her ex-boyfriend had the cops drop by for a welfare check on her. Unfortunately, she was asleep and didn't answer the door so they broke into her home and woke her up in typically agro cops alpha "SHOW ME YOUR HANDS!!!" fashion, at some point pulling the covers off of her while she was still in bed. They both tasered her and shot her in the shoulder because she owned a gun and had it with her in bed while she was sleeping. Part of her defense is that if she was such a threat why didn't they shoot her to stop her and not disable her for an arrest. She starts a trial this month and is facing charges of Att. First Degree Murder Of Leo W/firearm (x2 counts),Agg. Assault On A Leo (w/ A Deadly Weapon), Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon (x3 counts), Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon (x2 counts), and Resisting Officer With Violence. All of which could put her behind bars for life. The law enforcement and legal system in this country is deeply broken.

And we're all Jack.

@subliminalpain And then ship his ass to Underworld where the pigs and shit belong. Alabama - first in alphabetical order - last in class.

Anybody who helps put the barrier in the Rio Grande in place is a piece of garbage.

@cherylbutler2452 Thanks for disproving the whole "no such thing as a stupid question" thing. I'll go ahead and play along, though. Let's see - my family lives here, my friends are here, my job is here and I live in a fairly progressive location so I'm able to largely insulate myself from the BS.
1
@cherylbutler2452 feel better? Cool. Super constructive convo - have a good one.

3:26 - Who is the guy sitting behind Sessions making the face and what the hell is wrong with him? Holy crap!
1
@marbleblue5127 I'm confused about why you attacked dianahill5116 like that when you pretty much wrote the same thing. By writing "it has been for generations" is your point that therefore we shouldn't care or comment? I suspect not, so why would you accuse them of meaning that?
1
it's lost - that's not news anymore. And I don't think they knew about the debris field that's been located yet when they recorded the broadcast.

I totally believe that Iran didn't shoot down the plane - I also totally believe that there aren't any homosexuals in Iran. Riiiiiight.

US Justice Reid O'Connor looks like the White Supremacist he most likely is.

Jim Clyburn was always a self-serving prick. The perfect politician for our broken system.

Dr(?) Ghebreyesus needs to stop being a problems in this whole COVID event. This foolishness with booster shots reminds me of Dr Fauci going back and forth on masks originally. I agree that the rest of the world should get the vaccine as well, but by saying there shouldn't be booster shots for people in first world countries because of global inequality dilutes the arguments for getting the booster at all. If it's so unimportant that we don't really need it then what the hell are we taking it for in the first place? Either this is science and health care or it's politics - pick a lane. It gives strength to the whole Ivermectin/alt meds voices that are going against the WHO narrative.
1
Biliary Clinton My point was that sexual assault is a uniquely traumatizing experience as there a shaming implicite the act and afterwards, but I understand your argument that any especially violent assault is going to be similarly traumatizing. Although I do believe there is a difference between being robbed, even at gunpoint, or having your car stolen without being taken hostage and the more personal attack like a rape or home invasion/carjacking. Maybe violent assault crimes in general need to be tried in a different way more along the lines you or I described than civil and other nonviolent cases. I've often thought that we shouldn't be housing violent and nonviolent prisoners together. Maybe that should be expanded to the trial process as well.
1
@Dustyone23 Agreed with some exceptions. Although I'd make a distinction between sexual deviance and sexual assault - especially when the sexual assault is one of many.
1
@mattramen3696 Not a fan of Jeff Bezos, but I know people who work for Amazon and are very happy. There are a lot worse places to work.

two out of three aint bad.

While not made explicit in the federal constitution, in Montana where the lawsuit is happening... Constitution of Montana -- Article II -- DECLARATION OF RIGHTS Section 3. Inalienable rights. All persons are born free and have certain inalienable rights. They include the right to a clean and healthful environment and the rights of pursuing life's basic necessities, enjoying and defending their lives and liberties, acquiring, possessing and protecting property, and seeking their safety, health and happiness in all lawful ways. In enjoying these rights, all persons recognize corresponding responsibilities.

I know there are conservative people who aren't awful but they never get any press.

David Tucker For those who keep their money in the stock market instead of a bank account this isn't unusual. Anyone who has lost a large amount of money in the market can spread that loss over a number of years to off-set their future gains. We can argue about the morality of it all, but it's all a much more complicated subject than people generally acknowledge.
1
You have to be a native born American to be president, but they could do the rest of it. There is a reason we need to keep the second amendment firmly in place. An unarmed society are little more than toothless sheep. Recent Republican Mayor Mike is only in the race to divide the democrats and make sure his billionaire buddy, old Bankrupt Donny, gets his second term so more tax cuts for the oligarchs get put in place.
1
why am I seeing this three years later?
1
Don't want to sound like Napoleon Dynamite so I'll just say that there are a variety of fees and charges to people running an event like that. Just do a search for cost of Trump rallies. It's political rallies in general, but Trump super-sized it.

It sounds like you could use a vacation from the daily horror show. There's nothing wrong with not watching this gloom and doom relentlessly depressing news for a few days and taking a sanity break. Comedic, light-hearted, and uplifting content, especially anything using the Yakety Sax music, always help me feel better at least for a while. Be well.

You must be very young or not have a very long memory.

Trump made it much worse but this problem has been in overdrive for the past 40+ years. (Hello Winston. Nice to see you again. Love, George.)

Along with the rest of the world. It's not the country - it's us.
