In China isn't famine kind of Standard Operating Procedure? If I was running that country my job #1 would be to concentrate on agriculture and get a country that could at least feed itself. China has to import a lot of food each year. In Hitler's Mein Kampf his statement was something like "any nation that cannot feed itself will never be a great power". That's why he wanted Ukraine: it was a huge wheat area and if he could make it part of Germany then Germany could fully feed itself and then be on the road to being a world power. Perhaps Xi should put food first and save the skyscrapers and high-speed trains for later. They're hard to enjoy when you're starving. Vanity, vanity. All is vanity!

"An era has come to an end". Yep, China's 15 minutes of fame is over. Now back to rice farming under Mao 2.0.
2
I don't think Chinese can do that. They've always been money-grubbers.
2
I wonder how those Chinese fathers are gonna feel when their daughters start having little zebra babies?
2
She'll care about the Chinese stealing her data when her bank account gets emptied and her computer locks her out. What a dimwit.
2
They may have dissolved their partnership but I bet BYD kept all of Mercedes' technology.
2
Kind of ironic, no? Their grain blown up by their bestest buddies in the whole world.
2
Make sure they are all spray painted black. @MrNajibrazak
2
China thinks it's the center of the world economy. It's about to learn different.
2
Logs? We don't need no stinking logs!
2
It's like a rich kid whose parents die and leave him a fortune. Rather than building a business that will make generations of his family financially secure he spends it on Ferraris, yachts, cocaine, booze, and women.
2
According to Google translate "墙".
2
Go to Taiwan instead.
2
And his wife was the same way. Two spoiled people do not get along well. One is bad enough.
2
"Unt you vil LIKE IT!!!"
2
Potemkin nation.

@KinoTechUSA69 I didn't lose the trailer, I just noticed cracks in a routine inspection. But yeah, lesson learned. Now I don't buy anything from China if I have a choice.
2
"Hey Chang, there's a typhoon coming! Let's go outside and walk around". "Sure honey, let's take the kids too". "Good idea. What could go wrong?".
2
"Communism -- with its pervasive police state, army, and nomenklatura -- is designed to crush active resistance. It's helpless against passive resistance." Great point! I think that had a lot to do with the fall of the USSR. I remember a quote from a worker there: "we pretend to work and they pretend to pay us".
2
I wonder if he has to have 6 inches too. From what I understand that's a REAL problem in China.
2
I think any more it's no gamble at all: she's either going to divorce you or stay with you and make your life miserable. I don't know any happy married men. They all have that 1000 yard stare like there's no one living inside, just a shell.
2
It seems that used car salesmen are alike the world over. But as you say, since Chinese culture is dishonest to the core ("if you can cheat, cheat"), their salesmen take it to a whole new level. For some reason I am not moved to tears for them.
2
Nope. I just looked it up. "Ping An Trust delays repayment, citing China property market woes". By Reuters April 10, 202410:06 PM MDTUpdated 4 days ago
2
Just like the bear.
2
I don't think so. I think Xi will be ousted by other top CCP people. Usually when a king is deposed it's from his own close circle, not the common people. Xi will go but the Party will stay.
2
Never heard of these so I looked them up. What a cool concept! The upper floors could be apartments, the ground floor could be shops and craftsmen and then on weekends in the big courtyard they could have Pay-per-view gladitorial games...or soccer for the less adventurous.
2
What does forex have to do with it? Look at the Hang Seng index, HSI.
2
Apparently they never did a little research on how few millionaire men there are vs how many women are looking for a millionaire. Oops! I guess they'll be working to 70 in the US.
2
What is the point of all of this "smart" tech? I need a phone app to open my front door? What happens if there's a fire and my phone is in the burning room? Can we look forward to a smart butt wiper soon?
2
Just until the check clears.
2
If China was a person I would recommend therapy, lots and lots of therapy.
2
I wonder if they have windshield wipers? You know, just in case. :)
2
@Ginokuma89 Generally, in China always go with that assumption until proven wrong, which won't be often.
2
It's men who do the settling. I would guess no one settled for you.
2
I wouldn't go so far as to say that the Chinese people are too kind--they are always trying to screw each other over--but I would say that they certainly are dumb to trust the CCP.
2
It's the automotive version of bridges to nowhere and ghost cities.
2
@not_listening2792 All based on stolen Western designs.
2
In the US the homeless have mobile phones so that may not be a good indicator of personal wealth. It's like saying "they have clothes on, they can't be that poor".
2
Meatbags. I crack up every time I hear that word.
2
There is no way I would give my credit card information to Temu. None. Every bit of data any Chinese company collects goes right to the CCP.
2
Perhaps it's just my area but I can cook at home for about one-third the price of eating out. A hamburger that costs 7 dollars in a fast food place I can make at home for 2 dollars.
2
I've got some jeans that are 30 years old. Of course, they were made in America soooo...
2
@Adam-je2cp He's talking about Chinese celebrating Trump's win.
2
Plus it's "clean energy" not like that nasty fossil fuel lighter fluid. Saving the Earth, one burger at a time. Tofu burger, of course. Musn't upset the greenies.
2
The West will have to perfect it first so that China can steal it.
2
I doubt they do orthopedic surgery on pigs. Gives new meaning to the term "long pork". Probably some Falun Gong member who mysteriously died AFTER all his organs were removed.
2
The way I look at "those poor Chinese people" I keep in mind that they would happily shoot me in the head if Xi said so. Suddenly my sympathy evaporates.
2
It's a "skycrapper" with a typo. Which reminds me, have you heard about China's newest building project? It's a 35,000 foot tall building shaped like a toilet. Yep, largest pot in the world. Be sure and buy now. Construction will start...soon.
2
Like two pimps fighting over a hoe is more like it.

Better find out if she's human first.
