  34. I'm sure that is one reason. Probably 2/3 of the money is stolen along the way, similar to the Russian military plus I think it's there to scare the Chinese public. Remember the tanks in Tiananmen Square? When's the last time you saw tanks in your country's streets unless for a Veteran's Day parade? People can get in a mob fight with sticks and rocks but when a tank shows up with a machine gun on top it is definitely time to go home. @FranzBieberkopf

  38. The only way I'd visit China is if I took a trunkload of MREs so I don't spend the whole time on a toilet. Imagine traveling halfway around the world and being unable to leave your hotel room the whole time. And a 15 hour flight back with the runs? No thanks. Besides, I've given up duck intestines for Lent.

Communism is really just a newer form of feudalism, where a few nobles own everything and all of the people are just serfs/slaves, lucky to find a potato to eat while the nobles party in their castles. Also similar to an antebellum Southern US plantation where the owners live in a big mansion and everyone else is a slave being beaten in the fields.

  48. Tariffs are intended to protect jobs. It's hard to buy cheap products when you have no job, so you can pay more and have employment or you can let a 3rd-world country take all of your jobs so prices are cheaper but you still can't afford them because you have no job. Take your choice.
