Calling something a "science" does not make it science, you have a defective consonantal text which is attributed to Uthman in the most popular Islamic tradition, it could be and was read in a multitude of different ways which led to an explosion of reading traditions, 50+ according to Shady Nasser, this consonantal text even has regional variants and this is understood by Muslim scholars as well as non Muslim scholars, see Marijn van Putten and Hythem Sidky. Scholars from the 9th/10th century started selecting what they considered to be acceptable readings but it was not until the 10th century when one came along with sufficient political clout to make his selection stick, that was ibn Mujahid and he came under fire for picking seven readers as it caused confusion among the masses who thought these were the seven "ahruf" , the "ahruf" of course being a 9th century tradition concocted to excuse the multiple Qurans, that story in itself is problematic. You will not get the truth on this subject from Ali Atai and you will definitely not get it from an ignorant tiktok guy like DoD.

These folks are so dishonest when it comes to the variant readings, most Muslims do not have a clue on this topic, those that are aware just regurgitate the rubbish they get fed by these apologists who seem to interchange the words "ahruf" and "qiraat" to intentionally muddy the waters, non of them seem to be aware of the regional variants in the basic skeletal text, even though they have been known by Muslim scholars forever. Probably a typo but the claim is that these variants are complementary and not complimentary, which is problematic in itself, how do you enhance or add to the "perfect word of 'God'" ? He's had an eternity to say exactly what he wanted to say.

The variants are not simply dialectical, they are not just a question of pronunciation, there are different words which do on occasion change the local meaning of the text (if not the core message of the Quran) , the hadith that Muslims appeal to for the seven "ahruf" story have two people from the same tribe who would have spoken the same dialect reciting surah al-Furqan in different ways, why? Also it is generally accepted that al-Furqan was about the 40th surah revealed, how come nobody had noticed these variant recitations before that? Scholars , including Muslim scholars, acknowledge that there are textual variants in the basic consonantal text in the regional codices . It may be time to re-evaluate what your imams and apologists have been telling you.
