  6. I have to admit as an American it is odd to hear people speak this way. They speak about spending time with their families as if it is a torture. It's also amazing to me that they have so much more freedom to make these choices than Americans do. Most of us have to work full time jobs just to survive and don't have the luxury of letting one member stay home. Americans generally feel terrible about not being able to spend time with their families and Germans seem to hate being with them.

  7. It also shows what I have always said. In America I hear friends say they will use the military to suppress us. I do not believe that because most in the military are our family members and do not want to harm us. The police yes. Not the military.

The military in the US is made up of volunteers who mostly need a job or a way to get an education. They are not filled with an inborn need to dominate others.
