@DaveSmith-v3t What friends and family?
3
How do you even go about finding that? Everything I see is dead end jobs for peanuts or decent jobs that are locked behind qualification walls
3
I am 21 currently and just finishing up high school (delayed because of reasons outside of my control, thank you parents). I don't know what to do at this point, no goals or aspirations, my parents want me to move in with them to become a babysitter for their toddler, which is something that I'd hate with a burning passion, they're even going as far as guilt tripping me. I pretty much have to choose between shitty and shittier options, does it get worse than this?
3
@gregb9264 Doesn't sound interesting but thanks for the advice
3
I'm not even intelligent myself and still if I wanted to have a decent conversation I'd need to talk to an adult. It feels more like an issue of kids just being incredibly stupid than you actually being smart, or well, at least it felt like that for me. It seems that this issue is mostly fixed as you become an adult yourself, although you're not guaranteed to be talking to an adult either way, because children in the bodies of adults exist as well
3
Great for you, I've never been able to find such a thing. From my perspective everything is garbage with non-existent potential for any kind of purpose
3
@lifeisabadjoke5750 Or just good old hoeflation. Women want men that make more money than them, as women are now a majority that end up getting degrees and getting into high paying jobs. Essentially women will only accept millionaires, so 100% of the female population chasing 5% of the male population 😂
2
@ColeHastings It's unfortunate but that's all there seems to be out there. Time and time again reality only seems to confirm this notion, no matter how much you want it to not be true
2
@iheartjbgccb Yeah, unfortunately in this economy this is the only way. Maybe if this was the 19s or early 20s things could have been different but yeah
2
Or just don't take care of elderly people. Problem solved
2
@MyRedmamba 100% this. Young people are young people, they aren't retirement plan units. If young people can't afford to put food on the table then old people are done for
2
@barondino4628 Something is gonna have to give, whether that's the young people or the old people. The answer here is obvious, just saying ✋😂✋
2
Honestly as long as it doesn't hurt others then who cares
2
Paying for education never made sense to me. You're doing something you hate and you need to pay for it. Imagine having to pay in order to work 😂
2
@OrdealofCody Oh definitely, it's rather rare to see somebody that games a lot not have a passion towards it I'd imagine
2
Normal people: see beauty in everything Me: sees rot everywhere I turn to
2
I don't think I can understand this to be honest, for me life being temporary makes it meaningless by default, I'm pretty much how your character was while Immortal but while being mortal myself instead. Why do anything if it's just going to get undone soon? That just seems like a waste of time to me
2
Man that would have been so accurate if only Gen alpha wasn't a thing. Now instead of "Z" being the last it's "A" 😂
2
Problem is why return to inferior hobbies when you can just play video games or watch YouTube? If you don't care about the health benefits like with exercising then everything else is just a straight up downgrade. Like I've only ever read two books in my entire life and that was only because I was literally forced to sit in a room for hours without being able to do anything else, that's the only situation where I'd consider reading a book worth it, but it has to be a very good book too because otherwise your imagination just beats it anyhow.
2
Let's see if sustaining a non-corporatist capitalist economic system is possible I suppose. Personally I think the end point is always the same, no matter the different terms used to describe the system, but let's see where it goes
2
That feeling when you have no talents or passions 😅👍
2
@onionfarmer3044 "Just pull yourselves up by the bootstaps idiots"
2
Same to be honest. All these self improvement videos that youtube is trying to shove down my throat at questionable hours seem as meaningless as the last one
1
All courtesy of your one and only Capitalism. People ask me if I'd prefer that some are rich while most are poor, or that we all are equal and the answer is pretty obvious. Money is wasted on the rich
1
While I'm in my early 20s and I feel like I'm already at least 80 years old, minus the natural wisdom you get from living that much time :/
1
@Mixwell1983 Well that's mostly true but at 80+ years old it's rare to find somebody that hasn't at least gained some wisdom, obviously one can only gain wisdom proportionally to the level on which their mind is open towards it
1
Ah yes, yet another problem young men face today is hoeflation. You better pray to whatever deity you worship that you're a 666 otherwise you don't get to reproduce
1
Billionaires: Haha that's so cute my little slave 🥰. Now go back to the mines
1
@barondino4628 We may need more children but the economy just doesn't allow it. It cannot support any more humans, the more we make the worse off all of us will be, while adopting at least doesn't contribute to this problem while also giving a better life to somebody that is already here. The population won't start improving until we go back to the days when you could have a house and raise an entire family on a single minimum wage, comfortably
1
Is anybody else out there so sensitive that rejection feels like the end of the world? When rejection is all you get and it feels absolutely horrible honestly not even trying seems like the more stomachable option
1
@ganthc The economy was already a dumpster fire before young people even came of age. The largest generation in terms of population in human history made choices since they had the most people, it just so happened that those choices are on their way to destroy society itself. Now there's no way to undo that damage since it's the companies that own the government nowadays and companies don't care about votes, they can just pay to bend the law as they please
1
There already aren't enough young people to take care of the privileged class and soon there won't be enough to take care of the elderly. Great 😂.
1
I've been like this for most of my life and nothing seems to work really. I also don't care about other people so there's also that
1
Boy am I glad I don't have to worry about stuff like making the most out of my life (or anything for that matter) as a completely detached person. In fact, it's actually quite satisfying to betray other people's expectations towards myself
1
I guess muscles are one of those things I'll never understand why people covet so much. Seems overrated to hell and back to me
1
Honestly reading is overrated as hell. Throughout my entire life I've only ever read two books and that's because I was more or less forced to and didn't have anything else to do. A very good book that my friend asked me to read just barely edges out me just thinking and imagining stuff inside my own head and it can't hold a candle to electronics or anything else really. Like just my own imagination is better than 95% of books out there 😂
1
Creating an issue and selling a placebo fix for the issue they made. Classical Capitalism
1
@BuildNewTowns You could say "Socialism for the rich and Capitalism for the poor"
1
Not to mention that like 80% of all job openings nowadays are ghost jobs to begin with
1
I wonder how I'm gonna find a partner when I literally don't care about anything or anybody
1
@eiwhaz-tina6528 Yeah but to be honest when I look at the quality of our fellow humans out in the streets, it makes me think that maybe it's better this way. It seems like a majority of the people out there are ones that you wouldn't want to be with
1
@gregb9264 Well there still haven't appeared any better options so I'm just kind of stuck like this
1
@gregb9264 In Europe, actually
1
@gregb9264 Thank you
1
@Vik1919 At the end of the day it all depends on the individual tbh. Some are able to find it again, some aren't, and some have never found it and never will
1
I'm 22 and I've never really had any passion. I game a lot but that's mostly just because it's the best activity to do in general; no risk, low work and relatively high rewards. Everything I try is pretty much always the same but either the risk is higher, the work is higher or the reward is lower. Also being undiagnosed ADD which makes doing things I'm not interested in extremely difficult isn't really helping either
1
Yeah, I'm sure nobody besides you ever thought about finding what moves their hearts and souls 😂
1
@jeanbob1481 Agreed, it's really disheartening to see all these people fall for the materialistic society trick, thinking it'll enrich their lives while only feeding the abomination more and more
1
@hiphipjorge5755 People worked much more than 80 hours a week? Damn
1
Hey, at least the world isn't mind-numbingly boring, right? Right??
