When pit vipers are doing the combat mating Ritual they will not attack a human. I live in the Great dismal swamp North Carolina akistrodon piscivorus Hooked tooth fish eater!🐟🐍

Akistrodon pisivorous AKA Cottonmouths and Watermoccasins is the hook tooth fish eater which eat fish not humans 😂

@natea4828 Hello friend from the Great Dismal swamp in NC. 68 years old outdoor man hunting and fishing in the swamp and Lake Mattamoskeet Wildlife refuge never been chased by the Akistrodon pisivorous AKA Cottonmouths and Watermoccasins. They are the hook tooth fish eater which eat fish not humans 😊.
1
@natea4828 Snakes are territorial meaning they live, hunt and breed in about a three mile area not far from where they were born.
1
@richscott2952 Southeastern Virginia into Central Virginia James River and Appomatax tributaries is the end of the Cottonmouths range on the east coast.
1
@natea4828 If you're fishing Cottonmouths are attracted to the smell of fish they are curious snakes and do appreciate handouts. No snakes chase humans it's a misunderstanding of their behavior they are trying to get away and you're in-between its hiding place.

Taipans live in Australia not Asia. The Many Banded Krait ld 50 0.09 mgkg IV was given the name 2 step from soldiers returning from the Vietnam War due to superstitious and mythical beliefs about snakes..No venomous snake can kill humans after they take 2 steps unless they have a serious allergic reaction to their venom resulting in Anaphylaxis or heart attack.

It depends on your policy in North Carolina Blue Cross Blue Shield will cover your hospital bill for copperhead bites .⚕️
1
Oliver chum Baker 52 years old Huntsville Alabama was bitten by a copper head on May 25th 2019 he was taken to a local hospital and then air lifted to a hospital in Huntsville Alabama where he died may 27th 2019 He is 1 of 5 people that died from the bite of a copperhead snake between 2004 and 2019. During the month of July at wake hospital Raleigh North Carolina 37 people were bitten by copperheads on average each patient was treated with 8 vials of crofab antivenin 2022. Information provided by the North American snake bite registry and wake medical Raleigh North Carolina.⚕️ If you were treated with Anti-inflammatory - Antibiotics it had to be a dry bite meaning no venom was injected!
1
CRO FAB antivenin is available for all North American pit vipers only a .02 percent chance of dying with medical treatment in the United States 🇺🇸.

The dusky pygmy rattlesnake is also called a ground rattlesnake it has never caused a fatality . Information provided by the University of Florida Department Department of Herpetology.🐍 it has a yellow tipped tail before it develops it's segments or rattles.

Daniel Hough became the first soldier to die in the Civil War after a cannon went off prematurely after the Battle of Fort Sumpter. Lots of myths about snakes !

If you are bitten by a copper head you will be treated with CRO FAB antivenin The same for all North American pit vipers.⚕️

@MyWildBackyard I'm like you I live in North Carolina. At wake medical last summer in Raleigh North Carolina 37 people were bitten by copperheads during the month of July. On average each patient was treated with 8 vials antivenin .⚕️ 5 people have died from the bites of copperheads since 2004 only 1 person has died from a cottonmouth bite since 1971. Akistrodon contortrix main defense is camouflage that leads to a lot people who accidentally touch or step on them when they get bitten. Information provided North American Snake bite registry and wake medical Raleigh North Carolina.

Eastern Coral snake he's in Arizona looking for the Sonoran desert Coral snake . 3 species of Coral snakes in the United States Eastern, Western and Sonoran desert Coral snakes. 16 species of new world Coral snakes and over sixty species of old world Coral snakes that come in different colors depending on what country they live in.

Report any sightings of Eastern Diamondback rattlesnakes in North Carolina to the North Carolina wildlife department please provide photographic evidence along with the location of the sightings. They are on the endangered species list in North Carolina.

@lessanderfer7195 Snakes are defensive when threatened with being captured or killed they are not aggressive.
1
@lessanderfer7195 I choose to leave them alone. They don't want anything to do with me.⚕️

5 people have died from a Copperheads bite since 2004 and only 2 people have died from a Cottonmouth bite since 1970 . Some people can have a severe allergic reaction to their venom resulting in Anaphylaxis or heart attack. A wise person knows that the deadliest snake is the one that bites you and the last one that bites you.
1
@Lynn Snakes are generally venomous not poisonous. The only snake that has both venom and poison is the Asian tiger keelback snake it gets poison from eating salamanders and toads that are poisonous ! Venom is injected into the bloodstream from fangs Poison has to come into contact with skin to have a deadly effect. Or it has to be ingested to have a deadly effect !⚕️ The coral snake has the most toxic venom of any snake in North America pure neurotoxic venom. It is North America's only elapid species🐍the inland taipan has the most toxic venom on Earth ld50 0. 025mgkg sc⚕️
1
@kensmith5694 The nursery rhyme doesn't always work when identifying them in North America due to melanistic, albino and aberrant specimens. If you're using the rhyme to identify a highly toxic venomous snake it's to best to leave them alone. There are 16 species of new world Coral snakes and over 60 species of old world Coral snakes that come in different colors all over the world.
1
@kensmith5694 The average person isn't going to encounter a Coral snake and the nursery rhyme is why usually children get bitten by Coral snakes trying to recite a rhyme for snake identification is just dumb .

North American Coral snake (Equine) - Pfizer Laboratory antivenin saves lives since being purchased from Wyeth Laboratory who developed the Coral snake Micursus antivenin in the sixties only 2 people have died from Coral snake bites since the late sixties when Coral snake antivenin was developed by legendary herpetologist Bill Haast Miami Serpentarium Laboratories venom extractions for Wyeth Laboratory Pharmaceutical companies in the sixties. The Pfizer Laboratory antivenin is available until June expiration date 2024 when it probably will be extended into the next decade .
1
Coral snakes are burrowing snakes and spend most of their lives underground it makes sense that they would come up after it rains.
1
North American Coral antivenin Pfizer Laboratory is available in Florida at most hospitals who want to stock it. This Reptile Discovery Center Medtoxin Laboratory Deland Florida Carl Barden still milk and tube feed Coral snakes Micrurus fulvius for the production of antivenin. Jack Facente Venom Laboratory also provides venom for the production of Pfizer Laboratory antivenin in Florida telling people that antivenin isn't available is medical misinformation and no one should tell that to US citizens without doing any research .
1
Only one person has died since 1965 from a coral snake bite and only 1 person has died from a cotton mouth bite 1971. Copperheads and Western Diamondback rattlesnakes are responsible for the most snake bites in the United States. Information provided by the North American snake bite registry Wake medical Raleigh North Carolina.

1
Five people are listed on the North American snake bite death registry since 2004 from the bite of Copperheads that have hemotoxic venom . Cutting the bite area and trying to suck out the venom does nothing for the snake bite that venom has been injected into the bloodstream from fangs .Sucking on the bite area only transfers bacteria from a humans mouth into the wound . If bitten by a venomous snake seek medical attention asap .
1
North American Coral snake Micursus ( Equine ) Pfizer Laboratory antivenin is used when treating all North American Coral snakes Eastern ,Western and Sonoran desert Coral snakes effective until June 2024 expiration date when it could be extended into the next decade due to the fact that Coral snakes rarely bite humans only if they are mishandled usually by people who have no experience with snakes or children using the rhyme which isn't reliable due to aberrant specimens in North America .
1
Antivenin was developed Albert Calmette in 1895 a French scientist for Naja species of Cobras. Antivenom was developed by Dr. Charles J Martin and with his colleague Frank Tidswell University of Melbourne and NSW Australia developed it for the Tiger snake species in the late 1890's also. Antivenin and Antivenom are the same thing.
1
Only one person has died from a Cottonmouth bite since 1971 in the US and he didn't even get medical attention telling his girlfriend he couldn't afford to go to the hospital in Missouri 2015 . 5 people have died from Copperheads bites since 2004 due to a severe allergic reaction to their venom resulting in Anaphylaxis or heart attacks. 14 people have died from Timber/Canebrake rattlesnakes bites since 1970 are listed on the North American Snake death bite registry which makes it responsible for the most human fatalities from snake bites in the US since documented venomous snake bites have been recorded.

A wise person knows that the deadliest snake is the one that bites you and the last one that will ever bite you.

Canebrake/Timber rattlesnake Crotalas horridus is the same species of pitviper. Venom in the Southeastern portion of the US coastal plains and pine forest is hemotoxic and neurotoxic. All North America's pitvipers bites are treated with Crofab antivenom ASAP and is highly successful only 1 in 50 million people die annually from snake bites in the US.
1
Mojave rattlesnake hemotoxic and neurotoxic venom Tiger rattlesnake hemotoxic and myotoxic venom venom Cottonmouth hemotoxic and cytotoxic venom Pacific Coast rattlesnake hemotoxic and neurotoxic venom Timber/Canebrake rattlesnake hemotoxic and neurotoxic venom All of them are treated with Crofab polyvalent Antivenin/Antivenom in North America.
1
The Canebrake rattlesnake Crotalas horridus is the same species as the Timber rattlesnake Crotalas horridus they have the same genetic makeup. Their venom is not purely neurotoxic like that of a Coral Snake Micrurus fulvius which is purely neurotoxic Elapidae family of snakes which have front fixed fangs like all the other Elapids Taipans,Mambas and Cobras etc.! They are pitvipers with retractable front fangs like Cottonmouths and Rattlesnakes in the US. The Canebrake/Timber rattlesnake is the same species they have the same genetic makeup and the Canebrake isn't recognized as a subspecies of rattlesnakes. Canebrake rattlesnakes that lives in the Coastal plains and swamps, rivers and long leaf pine forest have both hemotoxic and neurotoxic venom and bites are treated with Crofab polyvalent Antivenin/Antivenom just like all pitvipers Copperheads , Cottonmouths and Rattlesnakes in North America. You might want to do some research on the Timber/Canebrake rattlesnake before you claim they're 2 different species of snakes. Cheers 😊
1
All pitvipers have traces of Phospholipase A enzymes in them around the world. It doesn't make their bites untreatable. Only a handful of snakes don't have Antivenin / Antivenom because they rarely bite humans and it's too expensive to produce the Antivenin for them but you can be put on a medical ventilation machine for their bites. Blue Maylayan Coral Snakes have no Antivenin but only 2 people have died from their bites in the past 100 years. Lots of people have been bitten by Canebrake rattlesnakes and survived with Crofab antivenom in the US.
1
Even the Eastern Hognose snake has venom which isn't considered dangerous for humans unless they have a serious allergic reaction to their mild venom that is used for killing amphibians on their teeth and saliva.
1
No herpetologist is going to classify the Timber/Canebrake rattlesnake Crotalas horridus as a subspecies of rattlesnakes. No medical professionals who are experienced in treating North American pitvipers envenomations are going to say that there's no Antivenom/Antivenin for treating the bites of a Timber / Canebrake rattlesnake Crotalas horridus or any other species of pitvipers in the US. Cheers 😊
1
Yes taxonomy is always changing and now there's only two species of Cottonmouths the northern Agkistrodon picivorous picivorous and the Florida Cottonmouths Agkistrodon conanti which is recognized by the scientific community as a different species after genetic makeup testing process. Sounds like your professor has declared himself as the head of the whole scientific community and decided that the Canebrake rattlesnake Crotalas horridus is a subspecies of the Timber rattlesnake Crotalas horridus good for him. Genetic makeup for the Canebrake rattlesnake and the Timber rattlesnake are the same and the majority of the scientific community recognizes them as the same species Crotalas horridus. Cheers 😊
1
When people recommend Google search 😂 and change the subject from Canebrake/Timber rattlesnakes to the range of the Red salamanders you've got to be kidding me 😂 ! Cheers 😊
1
None of my comments have stated that the Canebrake rattlesnake Crotalas horridus that lives in the Southeastern portion of the US Coastal plains and long leaf pine forest says that they have the same venom as the Timber rattlesnake Crotalas horridus that lives in the Northern portion of the US and have many different color variations depending on the elevation of the habitat they live in didn't have different venom types ! My initial comment stated that the Canebrake rattlesnake has hemotoxic and neurotoxic venom and bites can be treated successfully with Crofab Polyvalent North American pitvipers Antivenin/Antivenom which your initial comment stated that bites of the cainebreak rattlesnake is the one snake that you don't want to be bitten by because there's no antivenom for them because they have different venom types. Read your own comments kiddo ! Cheers 😊

Snakes are defensive not aggressive they are territorial meaning that they live in a certain territory usually not more than three miles away from where they were born. Akistrodon piscivorus or cottonmouth watermoccasin behaviors are the same everywhere in the United States. They will open their mouth wide open exposing the white interior known as gaping vibrate their tails and emit a foul smelly musk when trying to escape from being captured or killed by any predators or persons. Those are warnings to leave them alone .
1
@terrisomers7843 If you're chased by a cottonmouth or any other type of wildlife means that you either ran or walked away from it and it pursued you which cottonmouths don't do. If a snake drops off a tree branch means that it's more than likely scared of being captured or killed by any predators or persons who are going to eat them. Cottonmouths are beneficial to the ecological systems throughout the Southeastern quarter of the United States where they are scavengers and eat dead animals with harmful bacteria in the swamps, rivers and drainage systems. They also provide valuable venom for the production of antivenin and medical treatment medications for Thrombosis,Arthritis,Cancer research and other health problems that causes human health problems. You may even be using medicine made from snake venom. Remember that the world is a bigger place than one person's fear of snakes.
