All the war protests, the flower power generation. We have trouble grasping this. We fought so hard against meaningless wars.. We wanted to believe that wars belong in the past. And Ukraine was a very distant country. It was also the other way around. About the massacre in Srebrenica, they comforted themselves in Odesa: «It is far away.» I could only afford to go to Ukraine because of a grant. Only the music playing on the loudspeakers in Arcadia was the same as at home. We could imagine horrible things, because of past trauma, but peace was gradually taking over. But 9/11 I knew that USA would not tolerate that, and the blissful feeling of peace that followed after the cold war ended, was ripped away.

The Kherson civilians stood up in a remarkable way. Any dream.of being welcomed could have stopped right there. Which says a lot.
3
Engaging. A Hetman like Mazepa, and other love stories.. Yes. I’d love it.
3
It is good to see you optimistic. I remember the first impression. It was penetrating, scary, I believe you were very angry. I am glad to see you now.
3
Remember Putin came to power because he had the background needed for dealing with the criminals that were causing so much trouble in post-Soviet Russia. Even former dissidents campaigned and voted for him.
3
We know these explanations very well, from the start of the war. People I know were convinced of this. It was pretty hard to let them understand that Ukrainians in fact have their own mind, and they make their own choices.
3
I can assure you that Ukraine to me is IN the country, not a bridge or a border. Thanks for your topic.
3
There are lots of parades, demonstrations, and events focusing on the most different aspects of women's rights.
3
It stems that the former KGB agent from Kazakhstan is correct about Trump. Or Maybe it is their project. 25 that shares values with Russia. Anyway. Ukraine deserves peace. You gave up nuclear weapons, and you showed human trust, that you would be protected. It does not seem now that it was worth it, but to me this points to the future, while your opponents are going backwards.May you have peace, freedom and a good future.
3
I think this is an important point. You have the old "Quest of Igor". .. No reason for outsiders to boast and say that it was their country who did it. There is a self destructiveness within. . Peace and freedom to Ukraine.
3
Hold on and keep up what you need to do. . It is a sad thing that your favorite topic has become what it is. Sad it has come to this. Hoping for a speedy retreat from ukrainian territory. ❤
3
In a way. It takes time in order to get used to the new conditions of the big country in the north. Things and times are changing.
3
The bully gets it freedom to continue bullying its victim.

It seems the vodka is at work. Crazy.

YES, I have been thinking of you. I have not had been able to take in such painful present news, because of health issues.. though thinking about people in war zones with similar challenges. All I want is that you are safe, but seeing signs like P. Lancaster coming up in the algorithm is not a good sign. You sometimes see preparations preceding increased attacks in the comment sections.

Thanks for your update. In my thoughts.

For the innocents..❤ 😢

Some portrait. Summarizing a lot about dictatorship.

I must admt, that despite all my desire for Ukraine to be independent and free, that I feel a bit nostalgic when it comes to Aeroflot. It is a long time since Aeroflot sponsored a Kyivan boys choir on a concert tour to Scandinavia. Nostalgia can be dangerous, I know. Even though I travelled with Aeroflot in my youth. Exactly, that is what nostalgia is about. Is there much nostalgia in Ukraine now. Do you feel that it is harmful?

Many russians only believe in power, or their school books. Some very accurate spy work is behind this. Lets hope it makes a real difference.

Nice dress! I notice how you dress yourselves, with care and color. I like that! What ukrainians will be able to teach about survival and coping! . I recognize some of that unpredictable feeling from the covid-lockdowns in my city. Like planned plays and concerts suddenly had to be stopped. I also had the confidence that we would manage to get through it. Still, the musicians and stageworkers trade union created deals with a group of therapists for helping us deal with the aftermath psychologically as well as the economical challenges. . When I was in Ukraine, I sensed a great spirit of sticking together. There was some sense of aliveness I have been missing ever since. I guess you are experiencing this now. .

So agreed.
3
True. We need to know more. ❤

I liked Alina Pash last year.

Some say that most worries do not happen. I have had two worries, that I learned not to pay attention to. The display and proud focus on weapons in the Soviet Union, later in Russia, and their remaining on Crimea. I have been defending Russia and russian culture in many instances, but these two worries have turned out to be justified.
3
I think ukrainians are very aware that oligarcs enrich themselves from common goods. I think you are right about that.

I have seen videos of children in distress during the alerts. . My experience as a mother, is to sing to children when surroundings get terribly noisy.

I don't do politics, is something you often hear from russians. .. I wonder how to engager people who say that, and retreat into their own sphere of interest, and just want to live.. Are they the meek that will inherit the earth? Or are they just disgusted by those arrogant people who want to dominate the whole world, and find no identity within their own borders?
2
It was a terrible mistake to prolong the russian stay on Crimea. I have watched with horror what the consequences were. They could have protested. They took the hazardious chance. May God help their souls.
2
Remember the promise of the Budapest memorandum. Ukraine felt safe .. ? Assured ..?
2
Crime and punishment..
2
It is so shocking. How do you keep your sanity? . Caolan's report seems to be hidden. He spoke about evil. . Peace is something very different than suppression. . 😢😢😢

My condolences for those lost. The hunter in the East and North, He has shown who he is. He likes to hunt, even protected species. Like the Sibir Tiger years ago. I didn’t realize how accurate that described someone, who reminds me of a Wild carnivore. I enjoyed the Ukraine contribution i Eurovision. Thanks to Ukraine for deliverng something as warm and well created.

Same as with Srebrenica. I was in Odessa, during that massacre. We were comforted that Srebrenica was far away. So that thinking followed me, that Donbas and Crimea was far away i 2014. I do think, though, that local Odessans realized the horror of the news back then. Look at the map. Remember how Mariupol was destroyed from Crimea. That alone says me that Russians should leave Crimea to Ukraine as a peace token, when that time comes.

When will they ever learn?
2
I shared this one. I share your previous distaste for weaponry, BUT.. when weapons stop attacks on civilians etc. they are necessary. What kind of policy is stopping mail that has been underway for months, sent off by another government?
2
You prove that humor is a great asset. This was an entertaining recollection of many tragic facts. <3 <3
2
How would you explain what went on at Maidan in 2014? Who funded the support? I bet there are different answers to this question.

I think some of it deserves aesthetical acknowledgement. Surface treatment is important, though. . During that sad period I believe some architects found a bit of freedom in their work. The building named after your city, as well as the marriage-and-divorce building have some of the international qualities of the sixties' architecture. I think it is important to notice quality even from that period, that many people judge as tasteless. Sometimes I think the grey architecture of that time goes best with people in colorful garments in the foreground. Changing people's point of view was essential. I think an overview of the best modernist architecture in the world can sharpen the senses for seeing quality in that period. Some people will never like it, though. We had a recent scandal in Norway, when the Y-block was demolished. That was a high quality late modernist building of unique quality. Some people decided they would hate it, and we lost a time reminder thst could have become world heritage. Some argued thst it was just "soviet architecture". My advice: Look deeper into it. There are huge variations in quality and uniqueness.

Taking care of local problems, is something that is needed indeed in Russia. So they have heard this a lot, from expats etc. They turn this critique outwards, because they realize that this argument carries some weight in the minds of the audience.

I remember looking for white cotton yarn in Moscow in 1979. I only found an enormous shelf of thousand light green bundles.
2
Then there was also some precious crafts taken care of.. I got sewn some designer clothing that had been woven in Lithuania, around the year 2002. The material was high quality. Some old craftmanship did survive.

Thanks again. There are more scary posts on facebook., Thanks to your sensitivity and your digestion of what is going on, I find your vlogs helpful. Being ruled by craziness is a threat to health and wellbeing even in private matters. The usage of antidepressants in Ruzzia has skyrocketed. Which says a lot. You had a very good sentence about just being part of this world we all inhabit. Even pacifists can be clear about their stand and find methods they believe in without giving in. When dealing with craziness on a person to person level clear boundaries are important, as well as empathy. Sometimes the none-provocation method is the best one can do. If you can leave the scene. But we cannot escape the earth.

Looking at some excerpts of that interview, I kept thinking of some weirdo you could run into on the street.

Ukrainian flags unfolding.

I agree. Very interesting. 😮

Turkey acts immediately when their skys are crossed.
2
I liked this video. In the end I started thinking of what Alina Pash has been wearing during some videos and performances.
2
Stopping the burning arrows of evil. That is what the Patriot systems do. . I came to love Ukraine for having been trusting in a future where nukes are not called for. Don’t you ever blame yourselves for that! You don’t deserve punishment for such an act of humanity. I am sorry for the betrayal you are suffering. When the biggies agree that its a «proxy war» it tells me that they are admitting to playing ping-pong with your country.
