  3. Thank you. I am concerned about the war in disguise that I see in the comments on Russian speaking channels and vlogs. They use comparisons, telling a war survivor in Odesa how things are better, and cheaper in Russia. I have seen many times that these «friendly» comments seem to precede violent bombardement. They seem to be comforting, hacking through the protective mindset of native ukrainians with Russian as their mother tongue. This worries me.

  5. I remember how hopeful we were after the Budapest Memorandum. I know that military people in Odesa were not enthousiastic about it. They wanted to keep the highly developed technology. I am sad that this hope for peace has failed. I don’t think it was stupid back then. We were really hoping for a more peaceful future. So I am really sad about how this has turned out.

Yes, I think it is good idea that all young suitable people are trained in basics of protecting the country. Still, not all should fight, but take care of other needs. . I never thought I would come to this.

  18. Ukraine is not the USA. That is an Americo-sentric viewpoint. I think that is important for Brazilians to take in mind. I have been to Ukraine, and they may reach out for help. That does not mean that the hjelpers are the subject. Ukrainians know who they are, but they also know about suppression, and being bereft of agency.

  21. Thank you for more detail on the relation between Crimea and Ukraine. Looking at the map it is obvious that Crimea belongs with Ukraine. Also, after all the atrocities committed by the aggressor state, giving back Ukraine should be indisputable. If not for anything else, as a peace token. . I have been concerned about the russian military presence on Crimea. Maybe it seemed profitable to have the russian navy as tenants, but I think the residents of Mariupol have paid a high price for that.

  26. The destruction of Mariupol was by bombardement from Crimea. What more is there to say? The russians were allowed to stay there for “defensive reasons”. Attacking Ukraine is not defence.

  31. If they initially think it is weakness, it does not mean that it IS so. A meek and friendly approach MAY be because of strength. I say, MAY. I really do not know what to make of it. You are in a war situation, and these thoughts of mine may be because, we are not threatened like you are for the time being. I cannot say that I know when war is more appropriate than peace talk. I am pretty sure though, that 1991 borders need to be respected. Selling off parts of Ukraine to a bully is weakness. Stay strong.

  49. i remember the KURSK incident, and how we wanted to help. I also remember a TV-documentary from a meeting to the bereft. A woman started shouting out her anger, despair, and her distrust in the information that was presented. She was silenced by a shot in her shoulder. Some brutal way of dealing with problems was my conclusion. I really have no idea concerning your question. Somehow I think that the human values still present in some people in Russia need all the support they can get. Not to be disloyal to Ukraine, but I do think that humane values need to take the seat for that threat to stop. In February 2022 I was worried that the US would nuke Kreml and destroy its unique architecture. But no. There is no indication that will happen. That is what surprised me the most. I think I somehow was influenced by r-propaganda. I was shocked to learn about the following atrocities from a country that I previously held in high regard. Actions do speak.
