Chinese workers worked hard to make products like smartphones, computers, electronics, appliances, toys, clothing, sneakers, etc cheap, so that inflation in the U.S is kept to a minimum and the cost of living is lower than it should be. Think of the billions of dollars Americans have saved on living expenses over the years, thanks to affordable Chinese goods. Money saved that can then be spent on other pursuits like cars, housing, luxury brands, or essentials like school fees, tuition fees, doctors fees and hospital bills.

+Alex Lee Why should WTO be based on whether a country is democratic or not? WTO should be available for all countries to join, regardless of whichever form of government they choose, so why is China not allowed to join WTO when it was first founded? Instead, China had to agree to unfair and harsher conditions imposed on China by USA and its allies?
Even now, China is supposed to be treated as a market economy, as per our agreement in joining WTO, but the USA is not acknowledging China as market economy. Look at the USA imposing tariffs on steel and aluminum on China, look at USA imposing sanctions on North Korea nuclear test, look at USA imposing sanctions on Russia for its annexation of Crimea, look at USA imposing sanctions on Iran Nuclear Deal.
Did you know that the USA is actually the world's most "protectionist" country in the world? Who is the one constantly throwing out sanctions and disregarding the WTO rules? There have been over 100+ complaints lodged against the USA because of its protectionist measures, and even countries like Canada, Australia and India are lodging fresh complaints about US tariffs on steel and aluminum.

+Alex Lee That was not what China agreed upon. One of the verse was that China would be granted market economy status after 15 years from which China joined the WTO, which was in 2001. Its already 2018, yet why isn't USA treating China like a market economy?
Here is the actual verse from Article 15 of China’s WTO accession agreement:
Once China has established, under the national law of the importing WTO Member, that it is a market economy, the provisions of subparagraph (a) shall be terminated provided that the importing Member’s national law contains market economy criteria as of the date of accession. In any event, the provisions of subparagraph (a)(ii) shall expire 15 years after the date of accession.
China has not been ungrateful to USA. China even help buy off about $1.2 trillion dollars (as of January 2018) of US debt, in order to help USA tide over the 2008 financial crisis, so you think USA would be able to recover if not for Chinese buying off their debt?
And the USA IS the most protectionist country in the world. According to the following source, since 2008, USA has implemented 800 of such "protectionist" measures, as compared to China's 200-300 of such measures. Even European countries like France, Germany, UK, etc have over 300 of such policies.

As of 2018, the country has the world's 2nd highest number of top universities.
Innovation in China
According to Global Innovation Index, China was ranked 25th in 2016, 22nd in 2017, and 17th in 2018. Following this trend of improvement, China could become among the top 10 most innovative countries by 2020
Science and Research in China
China has overtaken the U.S. in terms of the number of scientific papers published, according to the Science and Engineering Indicators report issued by the U.S. National Science Foundation, producting 426,165 peer-reviewed science and engineering articles in 2016, as compared to the USA's 408,985 papers.
China is also home to the world's fastest supercomputer, Sunway TaihuLight 神威·太湖之光 as well as the world's 2nd fastest supercomputer, Tianhe-2. In a recent Top500 supercomputer survey, China beat the USA, with 202 out of 500 of the world's fastest supercomputers, compared to USA's 144 out of 500. Supercomputers help scientists and researchers to compute solutions to complex equations and are invaluable to research.

@johnblasiak607 China today is currently at peace and not at war with any country, since our last major conflict in 1979. Instead of making war, China is investing in developing countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and also African countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Chad, Sudan, Ghana, Mozambique, Tanzania, etc.
Whereas the United States is warmonger being involved in Gulf War, Iraq War, Afghan War, Libyan War, Syrian War, Yemen War, etc, even in the 21st century. USA is bombing in those Middle Eastern countries and enacting regime change by cutting off their "heads" (Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi, etc) and then installing their own US puppet governments in place.

Americans are patriotic and proud of their country. Likewise, why can't Chinese be nationalistic and proud of our own country as well? Nationalism is what binds a country together, and even USA has patriotic slogans like "America first!", "Make America Great Again!" and "God Bless the United States of America!". If I were American, my chest would probably swell with pride upon hearing those slogans.
But I'm not American, and China has made great progress to turn from 3rd world, dirt-poor, war-torn, starving country, into a 1st world, economic power, protected by world's largest land army (People's Liberation Army) and able to influence global politics. Why can't Chinese be proud of our achievements? Its not easy to transform a poor country into an economic power, yet instead of being recognized for our achievements, the West constantly mocks China because our political system is different from theirs?
