  4.  @garethonthetube  Don't forget that there are TWO blast waves.... the initial blast of the detonation of the torpedo's warhead, but what isn't often realised is that that initial explosion also displaces a very large amount of the surrounding seawater which then immediately collapses back into the void caused by the explosion imparting a second crushing hammerblow against a ships hull.... even better if the torpedo is a magnetic fused variety that explodes beneath the ship's keel, the initial explosion and 2nd "collapsing bubble" hammerblow damages or even breaks the keel frame and the rush of explosive gases upwards partially lifts the ship's hull in the water which in most cases breaks the ship's keel in two.

  13.  @bobsakamanos4469  As a fighter it was a one trick pony, any RAF pilot who was caught unawares was likely to be blown out of the sky, against an alert opponent you may as well have fought RAF fighters with a JU 88. Numerous accounts of the 110 being forced to fly in defensive circles purely to survive due of its lumbering lack of manoeuvrability.

The RN would have been able to trounce ANY grouping the Kriegsmarine could muster, even if it had to strip the rest of the empire's naval squadrons to do so, much as they did by moving "Force H" from the Mediterranean Fleet into the Atlantic to counteract Bismarck's run for France. The Atlantic was the very jugular of the empire, the extremities may have had to be allowed to wither, but EVERYTHING depended on the Atlantic, It would have had major strategic consequences elsewhere, but operationally within the Atlantic the KM would still have been crushed. As for Joining with the Japanese fast carrier forces, how was that going to operate? They made their excursion into the Indian Ocean in April 1942 and immediately found themselves overstretched and with too few ships covering too many duties.

  16.  @GM-fh5jp  They did indeed find themselves master of the eastern Indian ocean for the short time they were there, but as I said they almost immediately withdrew due to the perimeter of sea they were trying to control being beyond their means. The RN on the other hand kept control of the Arctic, North Atlantic (with the RCN), South Atlantic, Mediterranean, Indian, and eventually projected into the Pacific, on outside lines of comms & supply. The Japanese controlled half the pacific on internal lines of comms and suppply, and found that it couldn't expand further. (P.S I know about the RN losses, my own father was a survivor of HMS Dorsetshire, sunk on April 5th south of India, he also took part in the rescues of the Bismarck survivors a year earlier).

  22.  @nozack5612  Aircraft carriers were without doubt the nemesis of the old battlewagons, and Enterprise gave out and took a good hammering. But likewise HMS Warspite went toe to toe with the best that the Germans could offer in WW1 (including circling alone twice in front of the entire German "Hochseeflotte" at Jutland), and fought through naval and air engagements (including a battering at Crete & surviving 2 hits from the cutting edge wonder weapon of the Germans "Fritz X" at Salerno) RIGHT the way through WW2 from the frozen wastes of Norway to the heat of the Mediterranean gauntlet and the Indian Ocean, making her the most honoured ship in the long annals of the Royal Navy.

While it's true that Poland AGREED to repay the UK taxpayer £13 million over 22 years from 1946 onwards, the UK taxpayer had through WW2 and the years following furnished the Polish govt in exile with over £150 million (£5.3 BILLION in 2025) of equipment, supplies and finance and at the war's end then kindly wrote off 91.4% of the Polish wartime debt to the UK, leaving the already bankrputed taxpayers of the UK a further £140 million out of pocket with regard to Poland. What a bargain for Poland !!!! As for the "telling them to get lost" nonsense, go read about the UK's 1947 Polish Resettlement Act that granted FULL UK citizenship and residency rights to over 250,000 Polish ex-service personnel AND their families., thereby saving them from brutality and death at the hands of Polish communists. Please think twice before insulting the nation to whom your country owes its ENTIRE current existence.

  28.  @bronsonperich9430  Mohinder Singh Pujji was from Himachal Pradesh, India, volunteered for the RAF and arrived in the UK during October 1940. Although having his own prewar pilot's licence, he underwent RAF training and as I stated above became an operational pilot in April 1941. He served honourably throughout the rest of the war, and received the DFC for his skill and daring during reconnaisance flights over Burma. A statue in his honour currently stands in Gravesend Kent, England. This video is regarding the battle of Britain, and I'm just correctly stating that NO Indian pilots flew during the battle. I am NOT denying their honourable and valued service AFTER the battle.
