I too hate the current spreading hegemony of globalist directed "NATO" that that occupation has evolved into, but in 1945 it was a necessary action to check the further spread westward of the red tide which a vast majority of people would have hated even more.

That Polish pilots represented 7% of fighter command during the battle of Britain, and that Britain, inspite of being unable to stop the invasion of your homeland, still went to war over it, and lost 450000 of its people as a result? And that being unable to liberate your country from the post war oppresion of the Soviets, gave full UK citizenship and residency rights to nearly 200000 Polish service personnel and their families after WW2? Oh!!! THAT history ...

NONE OF THOSE THINGS HAPPENED because the ONLY nation facing ALL of those threats between July 1940 and April 1941 was the United Kingdom......... ALONE.

  19.  @swietymikolajbb  For those who believe Poland was "excluded" from the 1946 "Victory Parade", here is what actually happened. Britain while it was organising her Victory Parade sent out invitations to the embassies of EACH AND EVERY nation who had fought as part of the British armed forces and her allies. The invite was for each country to send a "flag party" to represent their nation who would all march together providing a colourful spectacle similar to the opening of the olympic games, with the wind unfurling the large number of national flags. Two parties, the Yugoslavs and the USSR for whatever reason, turned down the invites out of hand, and Poland ALONE was unhappy with how the parade was to be organised, and pressed for a larger contingent from their country to mirror her national pride. It was though unfair that any one country should have a larger representation that any other, and with the date of the parade approaching and only Poland unhappy with the organisation of the parade, they effectively "took their bat and ball home" and THEY CHOSE to not attend.

  25. 1. Germany didn't have the shipbuilding capacity to build that many ships through the 1930s 2. If the the Germans had attempted it then Britain and France, who both had FAR more shipyards than Germany, would also have scaled up production.

Aye, and on top of the lack of co-ordination with the heavy cruisers, with hindsight (and from the comfort of a cosy chair) there are a few other points that might have been considered by Holland. 1. Shadowing Bismarck until his screen of escorting destroyers which were racing back to the scene after having been dispatched to search northwards for Bismarck earlier during the night. 2. Placing the more heavily armoured PoW in the lead to attract the early fire. 3. Giving his 2 capital ships more latitude in manoeuvre, instead of following in battle line astern, which enabled the Germans to quickly switch target after Hood's destruction. But all that being said, Holland had managed an interception in poor conditions which resulted in the cancellation of "Exercise Rhine".

There is much ongoing debate about the nationalities and proportions of RAF fighter pilots who took part in the battle, with occasionally a furtive aspect which attempts to portray the battle as a victory of "mostly foreign pilots". Below is a graphical representation of the proportion of pilot nationalities serving within RAF Fighter Command during the summer of 1940. Each flag is roughly equivalent to 30 pilots, The numbers after each nation are the ACTUAL number of aircrew from that country, and the approximate percentage of RAF Fighter Command's establishment in the summer of 1940 that they represented. The figures are taken from the RAF records of the awards of the highly coveted "Battle of Britain clasp" to the British 1939-45 Campaign Star. Though You did forget to mention how American businesses were busily profiteering from BOTH sides of the conflict while Britain faced off against the nazis. The US business community never let morals get in the way of a healthy profit. It still baffles me why us British still tend to believe there is some sort of "special relationship" between the US and UK!!! Ordinary citizens from both nations maybe, but between their respective governments / economies? No way.

The Commonwealth was in 1940 mostly a distant vocal supporter. The defence of the UK in 1940 was maintained by 95% British troops and citizens. It was another year or so before the commonwealth contribution in Europe REALLY began to kick in.

  50.  @mariuszkowalski6472  If you're aware of your own countries history, at the time of the victory parade in 1946 the west was still negotiating with the Soviet Union, the "liberators" of your country. The Soviets were wary of nationalism and at a very sensitive time, its not good tactics to upset the people you're trying to bargain with. As it turned out, the Soviets weren't playing ball with regards to democracy in their newly "liberated" east European "buffer states". So what could the west do? Start WW3 ? (with nukes!!!). The Brits that everyone is now taught to hate, did the only thing in their power to compensate the Poles, and gave FULL UK residency and citizenship rights to ALL Polish service personnel who had served in the British armed forces during WW2 together with their families. You can still read the "1947 Polish Resettlement Act" at the UK government website. Obviously not all Poles chose to accept the kind offer, and decided to return to Poland, but by all accounts, lived to regret it.
