Some do!

Depends on what career you are persuading ;-)
2
Julia is a "faster Python" while Rust is a "safer and modernized C++". Ready! ;-)
2
;-)
2
@abdjahdoiahdoai Plain "C" would be a smarter idea ;-) * Julia needs a VM - RAM and CPU cycles wasted on a weak hardware. * C++ has OOP - potential RAM and CPU cycles wasted on a weak hardware.
2
You mean - modern banking software? ;-)
2
Sad reality - you could ask a robot to be/do just that in a few years...
2
Getting a job with a COBOL is not a joke actually. Google that. Salary is good :-)
2
"And what is this git thing anyways?" - this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Git Ask any developer why Git is so important and he will start a 5 minutes long rent :-)
2
@thespider7898 Yeah. They have a few shady practices. And still do :-)
2
Unreal Engine 5 presentation (Canyon or something like that)
2
It is! Same with COBOL (high salary jobs in writing banking software)
2
What language did you chose and for what kind of projects? :-)
2
True
2
No. But now they shove Snaps down everyone's throat :-)
2
Now it is! xD
2
The "Mini-Unity" ;-)
2
True!
2
Well... Fortran is a fully featured language so you could do whatever in it. You would just have to write a lot of libraries yourself, because it's not very popular (in general). He is most likely lying tho ;-)
2
Likes - 3.5k Dsilikes - 7
2
Depends on how much are you willing to adapt ;-)
2
Not for now ;-) Not sure that it has 10 000 different useful libraries.
2
GameMaker Studio is also great! It's very comfortable to START making games but after a while you would understand that it's pretty limited... You could do anything with it but most things are just not there... (using 2+ sprites on one object, writing and testing shaders at the same time, using particle system, using anything GUI related...). So I switched to Godot! Yes - I am converted now! Join us! ;-)
2
Limited tries are already a thing ;-)
2
So do what people did when sewing machines were invented? I will not do that ;-)
2
True!
2
Simple explanation: sometimes developers want to calculate something simple but but in parallel. CUDA is one of the solutions ;-)
2
Well... * Learn 1-2 languages properly * Read about some interesting language * Find a tutorial on it * Poke around and write some small programs * DONE - you know another language on a very basic level ;-)
2
If something hurts that means than there is a problem ;-) Do those things at the same time: be less judgemental to yourself AND improve yourself little by little - you would fix the problem from both sides!
2
GPU can't do everything that CPU does. Now developers could just compile their program 3 times and see what works the best for their task.
2
Old languages have weird syntax. COBOL and BASIC is not better than this ;-)
2
OpenCL for all videocards and ROCm for AMD ;-)
2
@szymoniak75 Yeah, OpenAI is not open. Not really logical xD
2
No, thanks! Survival of the fittest ;-)
2
Linux based MiniPC vs toy console from Nintendo ;-)
2
Welcome to community! 🙂
2
@bobbirdsong6825 Well... Games could generate random encounters (a random person asks you do do some random thing). If we are in a simulation - how would you know that? If you never was in a "real" world - how would you know that our world is slightly illogical? If in a game at night some random vampires would spawn - that's very strange by our standards, but that's pretty normal in that game's world.
2
It's very niche. Best in it's class of distros but niche. Same with TailsOS.
2
It's ok - they have 999 more to go xD
2
Oof! I tried it a few years ago and it was "a more confusing C++"
2
HE isn't the richest man - he is the richest that we know about ;-)
2
In 5 years or so ;-)
2
Oh! Today, programming is much more "comfy" and "hip". And that's a good thing! ;-)
2
Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? I think not ;-)
2
That's partially true. Having most devices connected to the Internet is pretty dangerous but that disaster could be avoided on so many levels: * Developers of that antivirus SHOULD have a better testing environment. They would catch that bug before millions of PC got that update! * Developers of that antivirus could roll out (upload) that update to some of the clients and not to all of them at the same time. * Companies should not use Windows but Linux. It's more secure by default (but experienced administrator is still a must have!).
2
True. But some people just like to be pedantic. Even it's creator just calls it "Linux"
2
@2PeteShakur xD
2
@XoLucyna ;-)
2
I just have to read why ;-) Yep - very polite!
2
Do you have something from Crowdstrike installed? I don't think so ;-)
