If everyone wears them, the overall transmission becomes so low that the virus eventually dies from not being transmitted.   5. no tests are 100% accurate. all tests for everything, not just medical have an accepted error rate, both for false positives, and false negatives. it is such well established knowledge that there is even a term for it in statistics, type1 and type2 errors. the tests that are used are the ones with the lowest error rates which are also practical to perform. it is accepted that no test will give 100% accurate numbers; what they do show, though, is an overall trend for infection.
