Your not going to wear out the knotch, your just not. and if you did, whoopy do get a new cocking tube. as for slides, no, useing the slide release is not going to round out the notch on the slide, i dont know why this has become a mainstreme thing and people avoid useing it, but i have guns that are a healthy 80+ years old that have been VERY heavily used by probably half a dozen people from before i was born, and springs, mags, barrels. those wear out. slide stop notches? never seen it.

  16.  @metalburner357  Solid point, zinc is absolutely a workable casting material for even an out of the garage shop to anyone with a degree of competency. Magnesium is what i use as a starter for exothermic welding, not exactly a material id feel comfortable working with under high heat or in its molten form. Im sure someone will chime in and say they do it all the time and so on but as someone who makes the stuff oxidize on purpose, ill leave casting it to someone else.

  17.  @rustem123ful  I see this as similar to German doctrine, where all solders carried some ammunition for the machine gunner , if you have a squad of 10 each of the 9 of them carrying 10 mags each is not wildly unrealistic, as you said, heavy enough to not be nothing, but doable when you consider on their own they where carrying a bolt action rifle and maybe 40 cartridge's

  23. from what i understand with air guns and paintball is its ok to do supressors now but they must be permanantly affixed, for example gamo sells some supressed 22 caliber air rifles but the supressor is threaded to the barrel, welded, and the whole thing is coated in a polymer sleve

I mean, RPG7 projectiles are like that and the only safety from the factory to keep dropping a case of them from clearing a building is a plastic end cap

Forgotten Weapons thinking with the idea that it would cause the gas system to operate twice. or mabey the first projectile since it would not have much gas pressure behind it would only initiate the operation of the action. now that I think about it if the bullets are close enough the gas system shouldn't be a problem

  33. Really its only practical drawback is its limited magizine capasity, which for millitary application, is an easy thing to fix. USMC just readopted a m1911 variant with a double stack magizine

  38.  @AzureRoseMarshal  Yeah black power is a problem for muzzleloaders, and revolvers, breach loaders by their nature dont pack dirt back in the barrel like muzzleloaders do, the amount that can accumulate in the bore is limited by the diameter of the projectile, so really all that can be lost is accuracy, but its not going to turn to a bomb

  50. Civilian concerns with accuracy are not relevant on the military level. Civilians are trying to get shots in the same hole where as the military cares about if it can hit a person within 300 yards. I mean the M14 in stock configuration is even less accurate then the FAL and you don't hear that brought up during the trials.
