Interesting!

"If you're looking for someone to blame for the rise of Donald Trump, look no further than Barack Obama." Yes, well millions of us have been saying that very thing for years now; including millions who voted for him, to the very tired and predictable shrieks of "racist!!!" It's never quite been explained how someone who voted for a progressive black man over old line white neo-cons.... twice!... can be a racist but, here we are.
1
He has done a video about a split America. In fact, I think he's done more than one. And Peter is hardly the only one who's saying those things about Canada. Broaden your horizons a bit and you'll see.
1
Oh, to live in interesting times.....
1
@u2beuser714 The US did fund the mujahedeen and that same mujahedeen did morph into what became the Taliban. I think you'd better check your facts, buddy. And I'll ask you the same question I ask others who seem to think they know so much more than Peter does.... If your opinion of him and his analysis is that low, why do you watch him?
1
@u2beuser714 1) I'll tell you what I told my mother at 7 years of age when I walked into the house with wet boots.... my name is NOT Jesus Christ!!! 2) Alright, alright... quit begging already... Sheesh! "I'm joking." There; ya happy? You'd better be because you pleaded with me to tell you that. 3) For the love of God Almighty.... READ some damned history!!!

I can forgive the ones who were off by a little. That's easy to do. I've done it myself a few times. What I can't forgive is when I hear some variation of "it's not even going to be close!" or "landslide!" Neither Trump's '16 win, nor Biden's '20 win nor Trump's '24 win were nearly as large as the EC count made them look so anyone predicting any form of a blowout is clowning themselves.
1
@TheDarkAngel7777 Yes, I know all that but the key word there is "if." They have not done so yet nor, as a very racially and culturally mixed society, do I see that they have either the will or the means to do so anytime soon. This is what I'm getting at. They may be the strongest country in the region and have the fewest problems and the most potential relative to their neighbors but they are still plagued with problems and not in any position to project power throughout the region.... Unless, like I said, I'm really missing something, because from where I'm looking, they can't even get their own affairs in order. And don't misunderstand me; I'm not saying any of this to disparage the Nigerians. One of the ladies in my shop is Nigerian and it is she who is the source of much of the information that is the basis of my opinions. I really hope that Peter is right and that I am missing something and that they can and might soon impose order. I'm just saying that they don't seem, to me at least, to be in any position to.
1
@Sekir80 No, he does it perfectly.
1
@Sekir80 I don't know; why don't you ask him? Anyway, what you're talking about is anecdotal while Peter is making the broad point... and he's hardly the only one who has and is.... that large scale investments in solar power where there's little sun and wind power where there's little wind, make no sense with the current technology. They can't pay for themselves because they can't produce enough power. I mean geez; this is not rocket science here. It's common bloody sense. Yes, individual results can vary and often do but that doesn't disprove the larger point.

There is actually a very good answer to Russia's half million troops..... a half million NATO troops. Mind you, that would require the balls and the spine to actually........ oh, never mind.
1
Boy, them Russians are sure scared of us and our "sanctions", ain't they?
1
Rumor is he offed himself with two shots to the back of the head.

I'm not nearly as confident as Peter seems to be that Trump doesn't have a chance at winning for a number of reasons but chief among them is that in this election, each of the candidates is the principle reason why the other is even competitive. Any mainstream, sensible democrat could kick Trump's ass just as any mainstream, sensible republican would kick Biden's ass. Each party is well aware of this just as they're both well aware that the majority of Americans don't want either one but chose to ignore all of it and stick with what we've got which is why we're where we are. Peter could very well turn out to be right but there's still plenty of time for any number of things to go south in a very big way for either one or both. I ain't placing any bets just yet.
1
Fair enough and your choice, of course, but he does sound like he's offering an enhanced product so it's not unreasonable to charge more for it. That's just business.
1
@ivancho5854 For someone with such a low opinion of the guy, I'm surprised you were even here at all.
1
The upvotes would suggest differently. @williamoliver6807

Meanwhile, here in Canada, our various governments have put us on the hook for something like $30B+ in subsidies for battery plants. I realize most politicians in most places are imbeciles but we are a truly special case.
1
Good morning, Peter. Sorry for going off topic here. I 'spose you know by now but.... Trump won. That's that thing you said could never happen. Well, it did. And it was big! And while you mightn't have seen it coming, we sure did. Now I'm a fan and not one of these comment section A-holes who think they're smarter than everyone else or who pick up on every little misstep and hold it up as proof that you're an idiot but..... That's kind of a big misstep which doesn't enhance your reputation a lot. Especially when you were that emphatic about it. Just sayin'...... Have a great day.
1
An interesting perspective. Hadn't heard it explained this way before.
1
I'm giving at least as much credence to the betting markets at this stage, perhaps more, because for these folks, there's big money on the line and they don't like to lose money. Right now, the odds makers have Trump way out in front. Replace Biden with someone else and maybe we have a whole new ball game but unless and until that happens, the big money bets are on Trump.

As bad as the current situation is, we should expect it to get many, many orders of magnitude worse in the years ahead. As shaky as Russia is/was, it's more or less the glue that's been holding the former Soviet space together in some sort of functioning reality from security guarantees, to trade to energy to keeping ethnic minorities in check. Take that away and you have the makings of several decades of general upheaval and chaos. Combine that with the coming collapse of China, and all of the drama that will accompany it, a likely significant re-alignment of the Middle East, the slow, steady decline of Europe and the fracturing of America and the outlook into the middle and late 21st century is pretty bleak.
1
That's what I love about Peter; he tells it like it is and he doesn't care who he pisses off.
1
@tuckerbugeater Because..... that's not the topic of today's video.
1
@cruxrual Can you "grasp" what I said in response?
1
@Vercixx Whatever you like. Just don't bitch when people hold you to the same standard.

The latest in Peter's "Wacky Hats" series.

Not worldwide, it doesn't but in it's own region, it's formidable. @warfarenotwarfair5655

Last time around, I wrote in Bugs Bunny. I won't make that mistake again. Next time, it'll be Daffy Duck.
1
@MrLouDC I know! Look who's snickering now.
1
@azhivago2296 Because it's fun watching stupid people get what's coming to them.
1
@JohnDoe-vy5hh They didn't move away from fossil fuels, that's the issue. They moved TO them. They shut down their nuclear capacity and went whole hog into natural gas... a fossil fuel... which they depended to far too great an extent on a hostile and untrustworthy nation to supply. That is why I have no sympathy for them. Any nation that shuts down the only reliable clean source of energy that can replace fossil fuels at scale and all because a few placard wielding students had a hissy fit is NOT a serious country and deserves its fate.
1
@PolMer_90210 Seriously?? Are you dumb?? Go back and watch his videos!

Merely one ingredient in a toxic stew but yes, a valid point. @jackcaffrey8493

More and more lately, I get the feeling that certain entities around the world; unallied but connected in purpose, are at war with the west and the west is so wrapped up in its normal day to day idiocy that it doesn't even realize it. I hadn't considered the Russia angle to this Hamas business but honestly, it wouldn't surprise me. Whether or not Russia is involved, I guaran-f*cking-tee you Iran is; the same Iran that is openly and brazenly supporting Russia in Ukraine and the same Iran that the White House nursing home resident just handed over $6B to and the same Iran that has been itching for a fight with the west for 40 years. I believe we are headed for some very, very dark times ahead.

Putin or Prighozin? I'm just cheering for injuries.

I hadn't thought of the fax machine analogy but it makes sense. For me, the whole thing started its ever accelerating descent into the dumpster the moment CNN powered up and hit the airwaves. It was at that moment that news ceased to be information for its own sake and instead became a commodity to be traded for ratings and profits. Now of course, there are so many, many other players in the game which only makes matters worse because they're all trying to outdo each other in the race to the bottom. Feeding people what they want to hear can be a very profitable venture indeed. One other thought I'll put out there... It's of no use to be given the facts if you're not willing to accept them... ie, to hear things you don't like. Conversely, it's of no use to tell people the truth some of the time and lie to them the rest of the time. Most people lose trust in those entities which attempt to deceive them and once trust is lost, it's nearly impossible to ever get it back.
1
Now this is dedication to mission if I ever saw it. How many other people could, or would, present their piece while getting dressed?
1
You want to stop the bad guys from doing something..... Let's go with Plan "A". Bad guys see your plan A and up the ante. OK, let's try Plan "B". Bad guys laugh you off. Alright, here's Plan "C". Bad guys scoff and ask "is that all you got?" The problem - The bad guys know that eventually you'll run out of "plans" and you'll be left with the choice of either using force or backing down. And they're quite prepared for both.... but they know you are not. Check mate.

A note to all the crybabies who keep coming back to the channel to tell us all they're not coming back to the channel.... assuming they can read..... You're not harming Peter in any way. In fact, you're paying him. Clicking on a video pays the person who posted it, whether it plays through to the end or not. If it runs 5 seconds, he still gets paid. Posting a comment; whether it's a sensible one or if it's the lyrics to "Mary Had a Little Lamb" boosts the algorithm which drives more traffic to the channel. If you really wanted to get back at Peter for doing exactly what you'd do if you had anything of value to offer the world, you'd simply go away and keep quiet but you can't do that because you believe A) it's all about you and B) the rest of us give a f**k.

Interesting times we live in, ain't they?
1
Wow! It almost sounds like you're implying that Gavin Newsom is an idiotic, incompetent fool. How shocking! We'd never have guessed.
1
That's true but remember what Peter said; a change doesn't have to come by way of an uprising of the masses, it can also come by way of those close to the dictator taking him out from the top. It's important to remember that though we often talk of dictators and one party states, there really is no such thing as one man rule. It's one man.... and an awful lot of hangers-on who depend on you for power themselves.... and if they see that you're no longer a benefit to them, and that their money and power are now in jeopardy because of you, you can be gone in a heart beat.
1
@cooldudecs He didn't say that revolutions never happen, he just said they were hard.
1
To quote Yakov Smirnoff - "What a country!"
1
@jouzel8951 Well, think of it this way...... The USA has a lot of border areas if you include stuff like sea and airports which they alone are responsible for. Land borders are a bit different in that they depend on who is on the other side of them to determine how open and porous they are. The US/Mexico border is a problem but the US/Canada border has always been pretty free and easy and open, largely because the US could trust Canada to keep its external borders secure thereby not allowing itself to become a gateway to the US for people it doesn't want there. If the US believes it can no longer trust Canada to keep up its end of the security bargain then they will act accordingly, tighten up their own borders to the general detriment of all traffic which crosses it and the result will be bad for everything from tourism to trade to security to everything else.
1
Theoretically yes, but as I understand things, nothing can be voted on unless the speaker allows such a vote and therein lies the problem. @raconteur5195
1
I would be more inclined to say it's your system that needs to be fixed. Yes, you can remove this or that person, this or that group of people but your problem won't be solved if they're just replaced by others who are every bit as bad or worse or who are just as obstinate the other way. The way I understand it, as an outsider, the parties control everything regarding elections from the primary system on up and thus, it is the parties who are the ones who must change things and they are unlikely to change anything which affects them negatively. @DuelScreen
1
I have no vote, then. Happy now? @ryankline1164

I'm starting to find it a little irritating listening to all this talk of "war crimes" as if anyone on the Russian side gave a damn. Talking about war crimes suggests that there is the likelihood of things like actual prosecutions, penalties and most of all, people with the guts to pursue such things. Russia has been hit with what we are supposed to believe are "unprecedented" sanctions. Putin laughed and very quickly found ways around them. Russia's economy is thriving. NATO talks tough and even expands but Putin snickers because he knows that for all the tough talk, money and hardware NATO has, they haven't the balls to act. France's beta tough guy talks of sending NATO troops to fight in Ukraine resulting in choruses of terrified shrieking from across the alliance and all while his own troops are getting chased out of Africa, not by regular Russian troops, but by mercenaries. War crimes? Don't make me laugh! When this is all over, Europe's mom-jeans, milquetoast "leaders" will be back in Moscow sucking up to Putin as hard as they ever have.
