  1. They're medical professionals, they don't get to make decisions based upon morality that would lead to bad health outcomes for the patient. They only get to make decisions based upon their medical training and judgment about how to best help the patient. This is a case where the doctors chose to provide no care to a woman that clearly needed it for reasons other than medical judgment. They should be kicked out of the profession until such a time as they decide they want to be professionals. I'm sure there are doctors out there that would prefer not to provide treatment for stupidity induced injuries, but they provide treatment anyways because they're professionals that actually care about their patients.

This is something that the prosecutors are doing in an effort to distract from how terrible the Olympics were this year. From the various robberies and inadequate facilities to the diving pool that was turning green. Bottom line is that even under Brazilian law, Loche is innocent. What's more, if the guards took 160 for the repair of the ad, that's robbery under Brazilian law. The repair was 120 and that's all they could legally take.

  4. I'd settle for hazard pay. I've been working in public through the pandemic and I only got basically minimum wage and that $1200 everybody else got. Meanwhile last week, I got to deal with a verbally abusive person trying to get a price check over the phone and chewing me out about how good I have it while he's been out of work. Dude was making more than I have been through the pandemic and was more interested in abusing me than in working with me while I bent the rules to help the guy out. This kind of thing really doesn't encourage me to care about the unemployed when we've been consistently hiring through the entire pandemic and positions haven't been getting filled. But, they got their $10k + benefits and I'll at most be eligible for the regular benefits and only under certain conditions as I'm working an essential job. Really, makes me want to just sit back and watch the whole country burn.

And how do you explain the much larger number that haven't got money to waste because jobs don't pay a living wage, even if you do save enough and what's the point of saving if the savings gets stolen by greedy corporations anyways.   6. You mean other than the fact that this was happening via adjudication by the college? And the accused was frequently being deprived of any chance to cross examine the accuser? Or that the standards being used were significantly lower than the typical guilty beyond the shadow of a reasonable doubt? These cases of alleged rape and sexual assault are criminal acts that should be handled by the police and the prosecutor's office. The reason for handling it internally was to try and do an end run around due process as the colleges weren't required to meet the same standards as the worst case scenario would be kicking them out of school rather than sending them to prison. The end result was a set of regulations that protected the accuser at the expense of the accused in direct conflict with the normal way things are done in the US where the accused are innocent until proven guilty. The worst is that there's no evidence to support the idea that there is a problem that is so significant that it should justify throwing out the constitution. The studies that allege that this is a problem were conducted with extremely questionable methodologies and do not represent colleges in general.

  7. Not to mention that they still haven't done anything to help frontline workers either in terms of protection or compensation. In many parts of the country, there are essential workers that are making less than that $600 a week stimulus check, on top of having to actually work and take on the additional risk so that everybody else can stay at home. Granted, I'm grateful to have the certainty of a paycheck and ability to pay my bills, but it's unbelievably incompetent that the Democrats weren't able to get us anything, even as they held up things up in previous rounds. If anybody was even remotely confused about the party, that should finally dispel the notion that they care about normal people.

Pelosi isn't a great Speaker, she hasn't been able to deliver on the priorities that the Democrats claim to support and even when they did have both houses and the White House they still didn't get anything done. And under her leadership, the Democrats lost over a thousand seats across the country in the more important state races. She's a massive fundraising opportunity for Republicans as even most of the Democratic voters hate her guts. More recently, she got rolled on the Cares Act, a great Speaker would have kept it held up in the House with procedural issues until they were able to get more out of it. Unlimited PPP money for small businesses that qualified through the end of the pandemic. Hazard pay for essential workers, not giving $5tn to the largest corporations without accountability. All of those could been included in the Cares Act had she decided to actually do her freaking job as Speaker. The GOP desperately wanted that money for the donors, and her failure to substantively deal with any of that is on her.

The black community whines every time a black person is shot and never revises their view in light of further evidence when it changes the narrative. You don't see white people or Asian people behaving like that. If they can't revise their opinions as new facts come in, then on precisely what basis do they hold any moral authority?

Her specific situation isn't grey area, but claiming that there are no grey areas out there when it comes to these issues and deliberately misinterpreting his comments makes her garbage. Biden won one primary and then had most of the other candidates drop out and endorse him. He barely gets out on the stump and he won't debate Sanders.   15. Cenk is making a huge mistake here. Fight like hell in the primary for the best possible candidate, but if the primary is rigged, then it makes precisely no sense to reward that with votes. If the candidate that won the primaries did so honestly, then fine, vote for them, but Biden is incapable of executing the duties of the office.

He's even on record after his most recent wins as being so opposed to Medicare for all that he'll veto it, even if it gets past both the house and the senate. Where was this concern about Supreme Court picks when Obama was supposed to be able to nominate somebody to replace Scalia and the Republicans refused to even hold hearings? Not to mention when they did get to make picks, they chose moderate republicans to fill those vacancies? The only possible way that the people will ever win is if we stop playing this stupid game and punish the Democrats as many times as necessary in order to make them learn that their masters are the voters, not their donors.

  18. +Darrel Sutterfield, it's in the constitution. The President nominates somebody and the Senate confirms them. This kind of apologistics is what's destroying this country. For close to 240 years that's how it's worked. The President would nominate somebody for the Supreme Court and the Senate would examine their record and credentials and give it an up or down vote. In no instance ever, has the Senate refused to do that much so they could steal the nomination for their party. Nor have they blanket refused to confirm anybody at all for such a prolonged period of time.

  21. She's here illegally because she failed to leave the country. She was given a chance via DACA, but she didn't adhere to the requirements of the program. She should have just coughed up the money and filed the paperwork on time, that way they wouldn't have had cause to detain her. She could have just paid the fee and filed the paperwork on time and not been detained. Clinton if she's the nominee because a Trump Presidency would be disastrous, but I've had it with toeing the party line. If Bernie isn't the nominee, I'm no longer going to be a Democrat. I'll likely wind up voting for her anyways, but I'm definitely not going to be enthusiastic about it. I'm definitely not going to volunteer or donate. I'll vote and nothing more. I'm sick and tired of the Democrats moving further and further to the right. I want candidates with some conviction and who genuinely try to do the right thing rather than sell the voters out at the first chance. I don't expect that he'll be able to follow through on all of his promises. But, if he follows through on the things that are within the powers of the commander and chief and can get one or two of the other things through, I'll consider it to be a success. It doesn't much matter to me which agenda items he's able to get, all of them will make America better.

  25. Clinton shouldn't have been charged, I've met plenty of people who don't think that oral sex is sex. And it's pretty much the status quo for the target of investigations to perjure themselves. If they didn't have more to it than that, it should never have gone forward. People know that when you take the fifth that it's seen as admitting guilt even though it's not legally admitting guilt.

At this point the process is so fouled up that the next nominee will likely have to face an extensive background investigation as nobody is going to believe it. The other detail here is that he might well have been the only pick they have that's acceptable to Trump. He's somebody that believes that you can't subpoena a sitting President and is a huge supporter of executive privilege which is something that Trump desperately needs as much of what he' wants to do is blatantly unconstitutional. We need a system where the President is required to pick off a list put together by a bipartisan group rather than being able to pick rando nutjobs that further a political ideology.

As far as consensus goes, the verdict is in, humans are the primary cause of climate change this time around. We don't yet know how bad it's going to be, but we're already seeing the largest known die off of species in the history of the world. By the time deniers like you are on board, there might not be much left to save. had we taken this seriously decades ago, we wouldn't need to be taking a lot of these steps because the problem would have been contained.

  29. This isn't sour grapes. This is a matter of fact, we already know that she's guilty of mishandling classified materials, that report is already out. Just because you're a low information voter doesn't mean the rest of us are. We know that she's guilty and we know that the Attorney General is already on record as saying that she will go along with the FBI's recommendations about whether or not to prosecute. And we know that the FBI is presently headed by a former Bush era appointee. You might be right that she lucks out and manages to avoid the indictment, but it requires a significant amount of ignorance to pretend like it's sour grapes that drives the accusations. It's the other way around, the sour grapes are because they rigged the race in favor of a candidate that's known to be guilty and likely to be indicted. They wouldn't have a dozen FBI agents investigating her and they wouldn't be handing out immunity to staffers if they weren't expecting to bring charges. Not to mention that the staffer who was granted immunity and who set up her illegal server has been taking the 5th an awful lot during his testimony. So, you might choose to believe that there isn't anything on the horizon, but if you look at the facts that are already in, you'd know that her odds of becoming President are rather long. Bernie at least would have some hope of winning in the GE if he were nominated.

  30. What constitutional crises? That's more or less what happened to Nixon. Voters elected him even though he was already being investigated for some serious crimes. He was then forced to resign or be impeached. Now, Nixon was somewhat more honest than Clinton, but in her case, they'll probably impeach her and remove her from office if she's actually elected. And that assumes that the voters don't care and that her campaign team stops being so incompetent.

Unfortunately, the way that slavery and the history of Black people in America has been so poorly covered in the K-12 system for so long that it makes it easy for folks to have these kinds of ignorant views. This isn't like in school where they falsely suggest that all Blacks in America prior to the civil war were slaves or that all whites owned or supported slavery. This should be a much more targeted coverage of what went on at that particular plantation. Any White person around that plantation prior to emancipation was in part responsible for the slavery, even if tacitly.

In most cases they didn't actually earn any of that money legitimately, they "earned" it by paying people less than what they're worth.   47. Apparently, and the fact that he chose Tamir Rice was pretty ridiculous. Tamir would never have been shot if he wasn't carrying around what appeared to be a gun or had the sense to not lower it in the direction of the police. Toy guns are legally required to have that orange tip so as to reduce the likelihood of people mistaking them for real firearms. The video is out there and it pretty clearly shows that he was shot while lowering the toy gun in the direction of the cops. Perhaps they could choose somebody else that wasn't so clearly justifiably shot by police to use for these examples. Alton Sterling appears to have done nothing to have caused the cops to shoot him. Or at least that's what the videos appear to indicate.

No, what blacks need to understand is what whites understand; if you're pulled over it's yes sir, no sir, answer only the questions asked as briefly as possible and avoid admitting to anything if you're thinking you want to challenge it. The woman deserved to be arrested, if she truly didn't do what she was accused of doing, she could have taken it to court. Often times the officer won't show up for a traffic infraction at which point it gets thrown out.
