@Poorexampeofhuman the ide was that people would use those large ones at home and put them in the regular garbage and not throw it on the street like the small soda or beer containers
2
there are no other sources, sources from russia and china (other example) are 100% propaganda
2
Common sense says that the US commercial airfleet was a lot bigger than the USSR fleet. The population was bigger and the percentage of people that could afford to fly would dwarf that of the soviets

I started buying 2nd hand clothes 20 years ago, because I was poor. I am now wealthy, but I still go to thrift stores for at least half of my clothes. I like the quality and that you can never know what special item you might find. Of course there is a lot of junk in those stores as well, but I got good at recognizing the good pieces. And if i don't find what i need a buy a new item, and don;t care about the price, as I save so much from other pieces.
2
@mastertravelerseenitall298 I didn't know that was real, but I certainly had read a lot about these high stacked cans from Richard Scarry's children's books which for some reason always seem to feature a lot of grocery shopping
2
@eoinoconnell185 I am living in one of the wealthiest countries on earth (in the west) We still have that community feeling in the countryside here. If one farmer gets ill, his neighbours will immediately take care of his animals as long as is needed without any compensation, while doing their own jobs as well , except for the expectation that that person will do the same for them when they need help. It has really NOTHING to do with West or East or any other part of the world, but with small communities vs LARGE megacities. People in Moscow or a random megacity in Africa can be just as ego centric as people in big western cities where you don;t know your neighbour.
2
You are doing the same here you accuse him of, you skip hop over a few of his vlogs and cast judgement, without getting what he is about. Don't get me wrong, he is no saint ( he seems to have a bit of a #Metoo past he tries to hide ) but his travel work is genuine high quality stuff. That's why he got those 3 million viewers
2
@vaclavzdich29 Esperanto?
2
same goes for country people. both have ups and downs.... that's why many people try to have both, a home in the city and a 2nd place for leisure in a quiet area. I like nature, but I also like having stores and culture around me.
1
you are still a racist: 'Now I don;t know why these girls wanted to date a black guy....''' Listen to yourself bro..... oh it must have been because the had money.... OR MAYBE THEY WERE JUST NICE GUYS???? greetings from Holland, where we also still cope with racism... (btw I am white, my youtube name revers to the comedy character from Rowan Atkinson, a famous British actor and comedian )
1
that rAf van looks like the child of a 70s Ford Transit and VW Transporter and didn't you make a video about this foto already a few years back, or did I suffer from a very strong case of déja vu?
1
@kimoandrews5802 My bet is that on average they are much happier where they are. As a citizen is almost impossible to build up your community if the leadership stays corrupt. And I say this as somebody who REALLY dislikes America, I think it is a terrible society to live in right now. I doubt that the migrating people would be enough, if they stayed to grab power and turn away from corruption.
1
probably made for the very small tourist market in Moscow and 99,999% of the soviet kids never saw them
1
@UshankaShow people did tons of things for long term planning, like growing potatoes, so that's not really an argument. and it is only a one time thing, you can cultivate it forever. Your cost-benefit analysis in this video is a better explanation I think.
1
as this video showcases 90% of them were copies from US or UK toys
1
The Big Mac index is actually a real economic measuring stick
1
@julianbullmagic You are wrong. I think you need to watch 100 more Ushanka videos, because you are blind for all the negative things of the soviet system that he keeps showing us.
1
@julianbullmagic two wrongs don't make a right. the fact that the american capitalist system has some evil characteristics as well, doesn;t make the communist system good. Communist system was pretty bad on it;s own, even without any american slander
1
@lettoreentusiasta9374 I agree that the USA is in rapid decline, but I was basing rating on a longer period, let;'s say 1960-2023 and it used to be better. Especially since we are comparing it to the USSR I think it's fair to look at the US of around 1990
1
I had never heard about the last guy before Gorbachev
1
@UshankaShow ty, I see I have to catch up on some more of your videos. Thanks for making a complete historic overview
1
yes Patreon is the way to go, I hate advertisements anyway and would rather adblock those (which i usually do )
1
Why didn't they just made a bike parking on the ground level of those huge commie flats? That is how we in the West did it before everybody could afford cars (ans actually still do to this very day, because healthy people in Europe still bike when they have a car) and against thieves, you have to lock your bike, chain it to a building or pole. that's the same here as well in the Netherlands. we have 20 million bikes, but you have to lock them when parking..
1
he already did shoes... (or maybe that was after your comment?)
1
in communist countries, people aren't smarter by miracle, and university is hard, only a % of a population has the brains for it. making it free doesn't change that. so many of those free degrees are watered down and not worth much
1
in peterburg and moscow it;s terrible too, because you will meet ruZZians all the time , people who support despotism in exchange for a slighlty better material life....
1
I am afraid the soviet beancounters who made that classified report were well aware of the self sufficiency of their people and included that in their numbers.... It was not a report of what soviet people BOUGHT, but what they ATE
1
Communist may start as idealists, trying to make a better world but they always end up as a gang of criminals as bad as the cosa nostra
1
sovjet kids and adult acted just like western ones in the 1950s... Only the west became rich and dropped most of those hobbies for more commercial stuff

@SonOfTheDawn515 a couple of observations: best place to be homeless is more based on climate. the USA is large and has all kinds of climates. You wouldn't want to be homeless in Maine, in winter, but in summer it might be ok, and in winter you'd rather be in a warmer State. Same goes for other countries, homeless people in the EU often go to Spain in the winter, for the mild climate. In my EU country it is definitely possible to go from homeless to 'living well' in a few years. Even with a lot of debt, we have programs that clear your debt in 3 years. In general it;s a bit harder to start your own business here and 'make it big' but that's not needed to be comfortable. you certainly can have a job, a rental house and a car within a few years. a quick google search 'from homeless to success' always gives plenty of results with stories of people, no matter in which language you put in the search line. I will be the first to believe it can be easier in the USA, but it certainly not the only possible place.

Well said
1
5th economy? lol they don;t even make the top 10 their economy is the size of Mexico
1
@mauricecornforth1233 and then the only thing left for those daft yankees is to understand that socialism is not the rotten form of communism that the ussr and other eastern block countries tried. that is indeed an evil and failed system. you have to combine socialist ideas with free market economy and you end up with the best countries in the world (like Denmark, Finland, Netherlands) Basically you have to 'tame' both socialism and capitalism and combine the best of both. But if you let any of those run wild, the result is bad.
1
You are a bit naive, you think being ' human reviewed' means they use highly educated staff to contemplate on all your hard work and make a deliberate judgement.. while in reality, it's just some minimum wage job where workers have to click through thousands of videos and they just dismiss ANYTHING with anything hinting at Children, Racism, sexualtity, violence etc... So that's why everything on your list got banned, the only one I can't directly explain is the Nikita Khrushchev one
1
@UshankaShow wow, that surprises me a lot. Are you sure that job is for people that click on your yellow and green $ icons? I am sceptical. I think you found the 'Media reviewer' job, which is something else...
1
@dzonikg lots of hard drinkers die young from liver failure or just alcohol poisoning. Your family just weren't too addicted but just kept it within reason (still unhealthy but not life threatening. ) you can do the same with hard drugs, evidence: life of rock stars like Rolling Stones ...
1
A lot of cheating in sports, a lot of copying from the Americans in military, a lot of spying in science
1
We can keep our supermarkets and supply chain, we just need to stop eating so much meat.
1
@michaelhayes4231 the West was pretty safe too, except maybe major cities where drug addicts and homeless people flock to. I am also born in the 70s like Comrade Ushanka.. Up to my adult years I could leave my bike unlocked everywhere and everybody had their backdoor and yard unlocked, people just walked in all the time, shouting 'Good Folk!' and that was how people moved around. They wouldn't know what to do when you ringed the front door, that was never used except for weddings and funerals and maybe doctor's visits.
1
@oldgysgt I still do that, but I have a room in my house especially for that so I can let it hang as long as I like, it's functions as both washing line and storage
1
@jed-henrywitkowski6470 if you did hang them out outside, that is certainly true, sunlight acts as a bleacher
1
I came here to correct him on that, but unlike you, I first checked it and guess what, khaki can actually mean light tan or dark green. So this one goes to comrade cheeseburger
1
Aka comrade Mac Wayne
1
I thought we called those b*mf*ck USA :D
1
He means this: Let's reduce the USSR population to 100 people who all earn 100 rubles a month. (for simplification) Let's say you can buy 10 loaves of bread for 1 ruble. So they can buy 1000 loaves per month per person. The USSR produces 100x1000 loaves in 1960, enough for all the people. But in 1970, a loaf still is only 0.10 ruble, but now they bake only 69,000 loaves a month. So the USSR people can't buy 100,000 loaves, they can only buy 69,000. And in 1980 they bake only 29,000 loaves. Etc. Swap the bread for all goods total, and swap the 100 people with 100 rubles for all people and their real income and you should get the picture.
1
@johnsmith-ht3sy that illustrate the difference in wealth between the west and communism
1
socialism is fine, but communism / marxism is and always has been a complete and utter failure, it has never worked in ANY country on earth. For success you need to combine some bits of socialism with free market capitalism and a democracy. Like countries in Northwest Europe have managed to do.
1
that doesn't say much unless we know your gender and length / weight . I eat twice as much calories a day compared to my girlfirend, but we both have a healthy weight, but I am much taller and do more physical work.
1
@UshankaShow I am sorry you feel that way, seems like I can;t change your mind. I don't get that soviet milking vibe at all from his vlogs, he started his travel channel in other countries (India and others) and was interested in the soviet union and russian language 20 years before youtube existed, because he had a nice teacher as a kid that inspired him to learn russian. The soviet mosaic thing is just a recurring theme but not the main objective. His main quality is the ability to connect and communicate with random people on the street. I don't get the idea that he is exploiting those people
1
they were all old men with unhealthy life styles (smoking, drinking, probably eating too much meat) No need to make fairy tales.
