@sibaraku2023 What the west has isn't democracy at all
1
@matthewplesniarski90 "Democracies are generally far more stable economically for investors" Wow, for investors. And what about all the regular people? "an authoritarian regime will tell you what is now happening" Weird how China keeps putting out 5 year plans on what it plans to do. "a democracy will tell you what they're planning on have happen in the future" Weird how in all these "democracies" the plans keep changing every few years because a new party is in control. The reason investors love "democracies" isn't because they are democracies, its because they can buy the government, and they have done that. You dont live in a democracy if the government can be bought by the richest people. The western "democracies" became "developed" as sibaraku2023 said, through war and colonization, or are you seriously going to deny the hundreds of years of extremely violent imperialism and colonialization that was extremely well documented that put so much of the worlds wealth and power in the wests hands? The only reason the west is "developed" is because they enslaved the rest of the world and stole everyone's resources while committing mass genocide. But you go on believing that investors are all that matters when it comes to a country being developed and not imperialism and colonialism, which are still ongoing today.

@pauld.b7129 "And yet they charge to use it, often at rates that aren't worth it." The rates they charge are about 5% the rates that private landowners charge for the same exact thing.
1
@TheIncredibleJumpman The liability to the US and CA would be US aggression around the world. Maybe stop trying to control the world and then the rest of the world wont hate you.
1
@9b2p49 Yes, and that's why the rest of the world hates USA and why USA is constantly under threat, because USA is constantly threatening the world.
1
@ran196 We want them to build in all parts of town. Theres no need to come here and make shit up.
1
@ran196 Weird, because its gentrification that's causing more segregation.
1
@LaFonteCheVi You must be talking about all the workers the rich exploit for their own gain, right?
1
@andrewpreston1518 Incrementalism clearly doesnt work
1
@GypsumGeneration Because NIMBYS are a major part of the problem. That's a fact of life everywhere.
1
@cirentXD You dont on the city, and cities never stop developing. If you dont like change, how about you leave. You're the problem
1
@akg_table Wanting more housing for more people isnt for myself, it's for all the people who need housing. What you said makes no logical sense.
1
@d_all_in The root cause of homelessness is a lack of money. Weird how were in a recession with out of control inflation and rent is raising higher than inflation and wages arent going up. But yeah, homelessness is a personal issue. It's not the system at all. You're a very intelligent person/s
1
@zncon Conparing rich people who want to protect property values to people Europeans genocided is beyond cringe. And cities are constantly under development. Dont like it, dont live in a city.
1
@brianhatfield2255 Yeah, because all 19 year olds make enough money to survive on their own... Delusional much?
1
@AB0BA_69 For the traffic, build more public transport For the grocery store, build more stores with more checkout lines. And BART doesnt do well because its purposefully underfunded. You dont seem to know what you're talking about at all. Kinda sad tbh
1
@moss2388 Actually, they dont have that right
1
@ran196 That's not what's being said. Gentrification pushes minorities out in droves, they then find a new poor area and for the most part all move there. The area they used to live in is now almost all white. This has been happening for decades.
1
@santisven And Thomas Sowell is an idiot. If you dont come to the conclusion that trying to turn everyone into a capitalis through housing, effectively commodifying housing, is a really inefficient way of doing housing, then you are flat out wrong. That would be Thomas Sowell
1
@Doomsdaymanx High and medium density buildings belong everywhere in a city. What doesnt belong in a city is SFH's Considering SFH are subsidized by medium and high density areas, it's a wonder why cities choose to keep building sprawl when sprawl keeps bankrupting cities. I highly suggest you go check out Strong Towns. They do fantastic work showing how much of a waste SFH are for the tax payer. Do maybe you saved since you were in high school, but once you bought your SFH you started living off other people since your taxes dont cover the services your house requires.
1
@AB0BA_69 They didnt surrender or trade away their lands. Europeans came to the Americas and violently conquered it. Euripeans did genocide against the natives. You should look into Manifest Destiny. Claiming anything else is a rewrite of the actual history.
1
@AB0BA_69 That's not why it is the way it is in Japan. You're just being racist. It's because they have done a far better job with urban planning.
1
@BTrain-is8ch No, younger generations have financial loses because boomers are hoarding all the wealth. When Boomers were the age millenials are now, they held something like 20% of the wealth in the country. Today millenials have about 2.5% of the national wealth. That's theft plain and simple.
1
@bp968 Sprawl is a part of the problem, but let's do more so we have to have even more cars on the road. It's amazing that the solution is never good urban design, but let's just build more inefficient towns that will eventually go bankrupt because maintaining all that infrastructure is expensive. Trust me, you dont want to pay the actual taxes that should be associated with SFH. SFH are subsidized by medium and high density areas. I suggest checking out Strong Towns to learn more.
1
@Steven That's objectively not true.
1
@LaFonteCheVi You're 100% wrong. Theres nothing enabling about strengthening your communuty.
1
@LaFonteCheVi There are a handful of countries that have eliminated homelessness, so no, the homeless wont always exist. Maybe you shouldn't speak when you dont know what you are talking about.
1
@UncleT0ny You give them HOUSING FIRST, then you get them all the other help they need. Do you think it's easier to get off drugs while living on the streets or with stable housing? Do you think it's easier to heal from mental illness caused by homelessness while living on the streets or while having stable housing?
1
@Smilesperlap So you're plan is to build concentration camps. Nazi much?
1
@rreagan007 So you want to build concentration camps. Nazi much?
1
@PYTwwe No, rich people live off the hard work of others. Try to not make that mistake again
1
@rayrodriguez2764 You didnt have 20 IQ points to lose in the first place
1
@uv6821 I need you to explain how inflation being out of control with rents raising even higher than inflation and wages not keeping up are a personal issue. Idiots like you keep ignoring the economic conditions we live in and just blame everything on individuals because you were never taught how to critically think and just repeat nonsense
1
@rreagan007 So you're a fascist. What did we do to fascists in ww2 again?
1
@rreagan007 So you're thankful to be removed from your community and taken away from opportunity? You live in the middle of no where now and to get around you MUST have a car. How you getting a job if you cant get to it? How you buying food if you cant get to the grocery store? Oh wait, you dont have a job so you cant afford food and you dont have a job because you live in the middle of nowhere that has no job opportunities and you have no car because you cant afford it. Do you bother to think before you speak?
1
@PYTwwe Rich people make their money by exploiting workers. Sorry you dont know how wealth is generated but maybe dont speak when you are this ignorant.
1
@rreagan007 I'm sorry, what? Why do they have to do what they are told? You're literally just being a fascist. The idea that you think people should be moved around like cattle is disgusting. These are human being we are talking about. And you can end up homeless. According to you we should just move you to the middle if nowhere with absolutley no opportunity at all and just let you rot to death out there, because we dont care if you live or die, just as long as we dont have to see you. Right? That's what it really is, you just dont want to see them and you arent willing to allow them any real help. Other countries have effectively ended homelessness, we could either learn from them, or continue to show the world exactly how it is we inspired the nazis to do the holocaust.
1
@UncleT0ny I already use my spare room to house people who need it. Many people dont have the space to house another person. Do you have any other retarded things to say?
1
@jerrymiller9039 You did. What you are suggesting is literally a concentration camp
1
@answerman9933 Correct, it's not a choice. Society failed them. Society demanded money be placed before people. Other countries have effectively ended homelessness. That's all the evidence needed to prove it's not a choice.
1
@jerrymiller9039 Why you giving yourself a thumbs up? So you have never been homeless and cant speak from experience. No one gives a fuck what someone claims they will do in a situation. People generally lie about what they would do, mainly because they cant know until they have been there. When your homeless you want to be close to ad many people as possible so you can havea greater chance of getting resources. Homeless people in rural areas have it a million times harder than in cities. And if you dont want to see them, than start advocating for them to be put unstable housing instead of advocating for literal concentration camps. That's nazi shit. Dont be a nazi. We killed them.
1
@PYTwwe Wow, is that all you have. That's pretty much tou admitting you have no idea what you are talking about. I guess you lose. Bye
1
@jbrown8601 Why are you a fascist?
1
@JoHn-gi1lb Why do homeless people belong on the outskirts of the city?
1
Yes, Americans dont get it. Americans think you always have to get back more than you give, and in many cases, never give, just take. Its the American way. We did kill off almost an entire continents worth of people while enslaving millions of Black people. All for profit
1
@thomasrogers8239 Puerto Rico does not share in the benefits of being a part of the nation. They pay us taxes but dont get to vote. Everytime a disaster happens, our response to it is lackluster.
1
@AL-lh2ht "poor people voted for their benefits to be taken away." No they didnt
1
@Extrinoo Get over generalizing. People who cry about it when it comes to stuff like this are people who have zero to add to the conversation and instead are trying to derail it.
1
@Extrinoo "It's not "Americans" it's Trump and anyone who supports his administration." Its the entire neoliberal order that has caused this. Trump is a symptom of the neoliberal order. You cant continue to take away from the working class and then expect them to not fall for right wing populism. The democrats who are heavily capitalist and neoliberal, are just as equally responsible for whats going on as the Republicans are. This is what happens in a nation with two hyper-capitalist parties with zero opposition.
1
Sounds like we dont want anything to live in these rivers
