  1. In the US issues concerning hospitals and religion revolve around the hospitals that are owned by religious organizations. The questions concern can they engage in activities denying women information about birth control, and abortion and still be government contractors (they receive Medicare and Medicaid funds) and could they get government subsidies for employees health insurance (Obamacare) without including birth control means and devices in those contracts. I believe they lost both of these issues because in the US government must use 'the power of the purse' to pursue current social policy. The Supreme court has ruled abortion to be a right but social policy makes it frowned upon. It is as liberal Hillary Clinton said. "a right and rare". Those living in the big cities and the New England states can get abortions rather easily. While those living in other rural areas have almost no access because of the travel distance required. Of course the well off layers of the working class and middle class have access by travel. So you have the hypocrisy of those who can afford children don't have to have them whilst those who can least afford them do have to have them.

  7. The reason I wrote about Black Americans was to show that just because government writes laws that don't mean they are just laws. It has nothing to do with where Black Americans originated from. Also you could replace Black with Mexican American and they also faced the same problems with regard to being treated like second class citizens in the 20th century. The treaty of Hidalgo Guadalupe made Mexican's living within the new boundaries between Mexico and the United States citizens. Parts or all of eleven US states were part of the Spanish Empire and then part of Mexico after Mexico archived independence from Spain.

Problems begin when some people want to take away other people's right to worship differently or not at all. They need to appear to be doing something about it. So they have come up with the Mexico, China and immigration problem excuse. The weren't enforcing immigration law before 2008 because it benefited them. Now they've decided that creating a pariah class will boost profits by lowering wages of all workers. They have no intention of stopping immigration legal or illegal even if that were possible without creating one giant police state. They want immigrants to know you will accept exploitation or go back.

  17. I might just take you up on that. The Southern Poverty law Center may not have all the terrorism cases and it has apparently left out people shouting Allah Akbar. Terrorism being defined as people using violence to intimidate a political, a national, religious or racial group from exercising their rights than I think you can find plenty of the home grown types. You also have police using excessive force and attacks on abortion clinics by Christian fundamentalist extremist terrorists. In a lot of instances these plots were foiled by police. Now wither some of those people were entrapped or actually were the initiators I have no way to know. You also have the fact that the United States government supports and has allied itself with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The kingdom has a religious police and Sharia law. This kingdom prohibits all religious practices except Islam. You can't even build a Catholic church there. Yet we are suppose to believe that these people are somehow an asset against Islamist terror groups.

  20. No to building concentration camps. You've probably never seen the Rio Grande other wise you'd realize that building a complete wall is a big engineering challenge. You can't just build a wall in the middle of the Rio Grande river and you can't just build it on the banks of the river either. There are canyons that make crossing impossible in some areas and there are those areas were the river is nothing more than a wide stream ankle deep. Think about building 3 travel lanes of an interstate highway sideways for 2000 miles. Even Border patrol doesn't want that because they want to see into the Mexican side.

  22. McDonalds is not just a hamburger business its also the supply of product business. The restaurant side competes with your cooking at home. The supply business competes with the grocery store. Can you get more out of the workers you already treat like slaves? (If it's time to lean it's time to clean.) I don't think so. Will you raise your price maybe and maybe the whole business shifts back to the grocery store and home. Maybe you'll just slowly raise your price like always or maybe if your a franchise owner you'll get a reduction of cost from the supply of products. Now with you workers having more money to spend and the bosses less the business's in the luxury goods only goes down if the bosses decide not to spend more capital gains than on luxury goods and the business's in the maintenance of life goods go up. Can they automate? Yes and no they don't have a handle that they can twist to get more automation. Nor does investing more always result in pushing up the rate of return on investment which is the true way business measures profitability not aggregate profit.

  26. When you fire a missile from any known point on earth the guidance system can get you to the target. When you are underwater in a submarine you don't have the ability to tell where you are with enough accuracy to hit your target. That's why the US built the GPS satellite system. The Soviets were probably satisfied with creating a big hole anywhere close by. The Soviets also had a doomsday fuck you'll monster bomb.

  27. It not a simple system of triangulation like lighthouses or radio direction finders. Instead it relies on position of the satellites and timing differences between pulse signals from different satellites. It's more like LORAN in the sky. It's also my understanding that to get the accuracy wanted simple Newtonian mechanics will not do the job and Einstein's general relativity where times runs slower because of gravity being weaker at the satellite's locations is required. The advantage to GPS is you can correct the satellite location from the ground if necessary and you make the measurements in real time. The advantage to INS is militarily it is vehicle contained and can only be knocked out with a direct vehicle hit in war. The disadvantage is that INS distance errors become larger the further the vehicle travels from its starting point. This is not due to friction because the accelerometers measure real acceleration and gyro's real directional changes. Its sole due to the accuracy of the instruments as manufactured.

You work for the three months and the CEO declares a dividend at the end of three months and sends out dividend checks to the stockholders mail boxes what did the stockholders do to earn their dividend checks? The contradictions in capitalism are that to keep going new markets need to be found and new cheap labor must be exploited to produce more profit and the workers never get back everything that they produce. So because the size of the world is finite as is the size of the market capitalism comes to a screeching halt at times such as in 2008. The problem is that market forces get out of control in many ways such that things happen that don't make any sense. From a market and profit manufacturing sense dumping garbage into a dump, river or ocean makes sense but the pollution that follows makes no sense at all. What that means is capitalism left to its own accord ends up with humanity shooting itself in the foot at best and nuclear war at worst.

Big shots over at the Thomas b Fordham Institute whose support of charter schools can be summed up as "Students learn best when Teachers are paid less". Talk with much hypocrisy about disadvantage students (meaning the children of workers) losing a day of education. The fact that most working people upon graduating high school will never get any education they don't pay for beyond what is needed to do your job is never talked about during the "education debate." Those at the "think tank" spend their time thinking about how best to advance education that meets the needs of the private profit system while keeping the workers fooled into thinking that education is the reason why the bosses are rich.
