  1.  @WarmongerYT  A fetus, embryo or fertilized egg is NOT a child. A person has a well established right to refuse to give up blood for someone who would otherwise die so why should a women be expected to give up her body to 9 months of pregnancy that she does not want? You could be dying of blood loss at the scene of an accident and I would be well within my rights not to volunteer to give you a drop of mine.

A fetus is not a child or a baby it is totally dependent on the women's body and legislation won't change that.

If a person is so irresponsible as you seem to think in getting pregnant than do you give them a responsibility they don't want? It is easy to say there should be a law but when it comes to writing and enforcing one it is not always that easy. If a Doctor turns away someone who wants an abortion and they then decide to go buy the pill for ulcers from a veterinarian to self abort would that make sense? They could end up hemorrhaging and dying of blood loss. We had laws against abortions before and they became hypocritical like the alcohol and marijuana prohibitions. The ulcer pill wasn't available 50 years ago. Today the ulcer pill is recommended for use in third world abortions by WHO.

Do you see a whole bunch of monuments to General and President Grant in the Northern States? No. But how many monuments do you have to General Lee throughout the eleven Southern states? You realize that Arlington National cemetery was built on the General Lee's family property for a reason. To remind every generation of all the lives lost because of his treasonous insubordination. He was treated with respect when he surrendered and his hungry men were fed a meal by their union counterparts. He was never tried or jailed. His citizenship was revoked but restored with his voting rights a few years after the wars end. He refused to sanction a guerilla campaign at the time of surrender. Something that would be later launched by southern democrats first as red shirts and later the KKK. I understand that the universal soldier has little choice but to follow commands but most of those monuments throughout the south are to civil war officers. Many who resigned their USA commissions to become CSA officers. Officers who should of had a much better understanding of the issues than a poor dirt farmer called up from the State militia. One thing I bet you don't see in the eleven states is monuments to those officers who stayed loyal to the US government and politicians who voted against secession.

  30. No he refused to bake them a custom wedding cake outright based upon it being for a same sex wedding. The questions of gay or other symbols never entered the conversation. He later claimed this as a religious right for the company he owned Masterpiece cakeshop to refuse gay customers request for custom wedding cakes. He refused any compromise of having an employee without his views or an outside contractor do the baking of wedding cakes for same sex couples.

  35. Years ago when you got a union job you got fully paid health care, no deductions, no copays along with eyeglasses and dental. You got supplemental unemployment that paid the rest of your wage if you were laid off. You got paid holidays. Not holidays where if you work you get paid. You got time and a half for over 8 hours a day not 40 a week. You got automatic overtime at time and a half for Saturday and double time for Sunday or a holiday. You got a bonus for working nights. Now a days the want to fire you for pissing to long in the toilet. You come to work sick because if you use all you sick days that's a reason to fire you.

Only later after the State became involved did he offer to sell a nondescript cake. That only shows that while backing down the nondescript cake could be just that a cake period. It seems to me that rather then compelled speech this is a refusal to serve based on bias. If a different sex couple came in and bought a wedding cake without telling him it was really for a same sex couple what then? i think if anything he is a skilled cake baker and not a cake artist. He wasn't asked to provide anything special yet he immediately refused service.

At mediation he offered a nondescript cake. So I say he lacks principles and is trying to get a decision that he is an artist that would be forced to make art and not a master cake baker. He didn't tell the buyers he was an artist apparently this was something he thought up or was advised of later.

No one except his ardent followers see how even a court dominated by conservative justices can give him a win without ether saying the states have no rights to place sexual orientation on a list of protected classes or overturning the constitutionality of the 1965 civil rights act where religion is concerned. His lawyers living in a maked up fantasy world think if the court ruled that the right to assemble includes the right to choose who will speak at the assembly that by turning this upside down the assembly (wedding) can not force his cakes to speak at the wedding. His lawyer in oral arguments before the court was ill prepared to answer questions such as what about other foods and artisans at weddings. Nor could she explain what wedding cakes say and how that would be forcing him to speak on the subject of same sex marriage. He was given a way out of this legal corundum by having either having another worker without his views make the cakes or contract it out both compromises he refused.

Artwork has to be something new and unique. You can't be expected to get something not in his book of designs. That would require art or engineering. He didn't advertise as a wedding cake engineer even if he did not all engineering problems are necessarily solvable. He did advertise as a custom wedding cake baker.
