  3. Evening Vanessa what a wonderful vlog again 😊 The canal is definitely changing as the weeks go by more greenery and flowers appearing, the reflections in the water so refreshing to see. Kidderminster is a lovely place to visit with such a load of history. The two children so eager to help u at the locks was a flash back to my own children, years ago in the 90's we caravaned near the locks at Audlem on the Shropshire canal. When meal time approached all three would empty their pockets of pound coins at the dinner table, when asked how they got the money "doing the locks for the boaters of course" after the bank holiday they were spending for weeks lol. Funny how a clip in ur vlog brings back lovely memories ❤. I hope u all have a relaxing Easter weekend Thanks again.🐕🦋🐀💰

Good afternoon Vanessa 😀 what a nice vlog especially the baby moor hen with those googly eyes so cute Funny l was too sitting in the park by my home and was watching the multi butterflies🦋🦋🦋🐛 and dragon flies in the long grass (council tax cut backs lol), thinking this is lovely to see then blow me the tractor came and cut it all so sad and the butterflies disappeared ☹. I'm not sure if ur going near Godmanchester but if u are there is a lovely Chinese bridge there its not far from Huntington. There is so much history around this area with Oliver Cromwell and the part remains of a woolly mammoth in St Neots Museum, also the home of the only man to assassinate an English Prime Minister. Oh dear I'm off again 🤣 for give me. I hope ur enjoying this beautiful weather and look forward to another fabulous vlog😀. I hope u have a safe week 💛👍xx

  8. I'm so sorry for ur misfortune and poor Alice Grace with the engine trouble, at least u were able to plod on slowly so CCR could repair the problem. Isn't it sod's law that the CCR policy had just expired but they came good at the end👍,(even at a extra cost). Besides all this u still managed to produce another beautiful vlog 😊. I'm feeling alot better and have managed to spend a few days aboard. X. 😊🍂🍁🦆🌨️

What a delightful vlog full of beautiful scenery blue skies and educational, after 2days awful weather I'm missing the sun already 🤣 u are right what lovely bridges u came across especially the red one with gold crested things on it. The food u cooked on the stove looked gorgeous l must confess it did make me feel hungry 😄👌, do u find that the fire causes it to bubble madly and u have to keep stiring it as to prevent it sticking, if so l have found that putting the pot on2 a cast iron trivet on the stove helps.   10.  @themindfulnarrowboat  during the colder months l cook regular on it ranging from a small roast dinner to curry and rice, and a little pot of water for my hot drinks l would be lost with out it as it helps keep energy costs down .

  13. What lovely views u will be seeing on the peak forest canal, but l think the beauty will make up for the closures and shallow water. I remember a few years ago a very excited Vanessa when u saw the otter for the first time and now the dipper, ur excitement for nature is a joy to see .   16. Good evening Vanessa so glad ur poor engine is up and running and ur travels can begin again 🎉🎉, it seemed longer than 3 weeks but sure it felt longer for u and Mr M😂. I had forgotten u were using a different fuel source like u were trying the new Blacking for the boat, let's hope a cheaper or on par fuel can be found with the rising costs of narrowboating. What great close up shots of the butterfly dragonfly and bee showing them in detail How nice to hear the church bells ringing on the day of the funeral here where l live not one bell rang, theres nothing like a nice bit of bell ringing echoing round the village. What a concoction of a drink! I bet it was a bit spicy with the lemon to mellow it down, is this a health drink or one u have made up ur self? Nice to see crew mate India back on board 🙂. A really peaceful vlog again this week showing wildlife at all ur destinations , l suppose having a big second vehicle is going to be a hefty expense if u have to store it. Do u travel with a car in tow so to speak were u keep moving it a head of u every few days? Have u ever watched "narrowboat isness" that's another peaceful mindful boater?. Hello Vanessa sorry I'm late watching this week😔 but wow it has been worth it 😊 lots of nice memories l 4got about the seals, yes what a lovely sight to see them basking in the sun a thing u don't expect . The pike and ells at Needleworth is a very nice eatery I've spent many a sunny day there watching the boats and also proposing to my second wife there. I hope Zephyr heals ok it is a worry when ur dog gets a cut. I'm so looking forward to ur next few vlogs to see more spectacular views and wild life of the area around the river Ouse.   20. This was a enjoyable cruising vlog 🙂 it was nice to see u enjoying the canal in autumns best before the colder weather comes. Alice Grace looks so cosy with the fire burning and the Xmas tree 🎄a lovely little home u have.👍. Looking at ur drawings over time u can definitely see how far u have come on and no sign of the squares now👍, funny l had forgotten that method of drawing l always used it when coping a picture another flashback to my childhood lol🤣. I have now moved my cats on board on a trial bases l was worried at first whether they would adapt and find a place to sleep, but what a pleasure to see all 8 of them having a great time in what will soon be their new life and new adventures to come.. l think to my self The Howells (My surname) and the pussy cats lol😂.   24. Good evening Vanessa a very sunny start to 2024 cruising with the colourful canal and lovely birds to kick start u off, nice to see the duck take refuge on ur roof. Nice to see u managed to get through the planned closure of the lock before it closed. How does Zephyr cope with the muddy towpaths and the mud on her paws? My dog is rebelling and won't venture far and sucks his feet constantly and the sucking is driving me mad its like a vampire sucking his victim slurp slurp 😂😂so I'm thinking of boots for him 😂. A nice colourful cruise with the last of the leafs🍁🍁🍂 hanging on for dear life soon the trees will be bare, it amazes me of who comes up with the unusual names of the fungus🍄 plants?   27. Evening Vanessa it is a worrying time for CCer's with the increases coming it seems unfair, its forcing people to consider about finding moorings but we all know that there isn't enough. They have also reduced the discount on prompt payments shame on them. Anyway back to the vlog what a couple of amazing shots of the fox and squirrel captured without knowing u were there, has for the deodorant at first l thought why are u making hair remover for ur pits then u said deodorant, then l realised and chuckled to myself thinking of Mr M's hairy legs in a episode last year were u thought they were urs l was referring too lol😂. I always carry a plastic carrier bag in my pocket for emergencies as u never know when u will need it, perfect for rainy days while carrying vegan cakes🎂 .   31. Good evening Vanessa & Zephyr nice to see nanny Tomo and little Oscar. What a different landscape this week, were u the only boat on the Rochdale canal I'm sure l didn't see one on ur journey. The grasses on the peaks reminded me of the African plains especially when u said Zephyr was there somewhere 😂, what a lovely sight of the barn owl going about his business such a beautiful bird when in flight. Well done to u for solving the problem of the water shortage in the pounds l bet it took a bit of water to get a depth for u to move. Nice to see the charity shop coat it matched ur hat 😂 suits u 😊. The Towpath monthly freebe newspaper did a story about Mr Rolt and told his story a few months ago it was very good reading. My tips would be 1= Enjoy the peace and quiet without todays technology. 2 = Appreciate the amenities. 3 = Think ahead don't rush. 4 = Forage for winter. 5 = Don't be afraid to ask for help.   38. Good evening Vanessa what a interesting vlog especially the bit about the bats. What a amazing little machine which enabled u to listen to the bats talking. In my early years after leaving home l had a bedroom in a shared flat were the bat's flew in2 a hole in the outside wall, they ended up in the cavity of the walls and drove me crazy with their noise standing looking through the window in darkness watching them navigate the hole it was like a scene out of Star Wars. Then of course a lovely cruise in the heart of the industrial black country, well done on ur first tunnel but l think a hard hat might be needed in future for ur protection as the roof was very close to u. How interesting about the windlass being so many of them of different sizes very educational as usual, last week l did a little research to the local canals that were by near to were l live but were filled in in the 1800's. The tern following the boat and dive bombing the water for its meal reminded me of gulls following the trawlers at sea hoping for left overs. For the first time while u were setting up for ur cup of tea and biscuits, u had tow path chatter as people walked by some thing we don't hear so much "how dare they "😂.   45. Good evening Vanessa another interesting vlog with a touch of history, l find it interesting when you explain about the local area ur visiting. Even though other tubers have been on this journey urs was better due to the history and wildlife and they come a live when u explain. l was shocked to learn that the grebes choose their favourite off spring to teach them the life skills while the others fend for them selves, if it isn't bad enough that the herons or pike get the young ducklings but for the adult grebes to say on ur bike u lot we only want ur sister😂. I love this time of year the changing colours of the trees telling us summer is over, how lovely the canal looks as you cruised slowly along the water soon it will start to look muddy and gloomy. Well Vanessa l learnt something from 2days vlog that it was squirrels calling out, l was hearing in the early morning while out with my dog and l thought it was crows how wrong l was lol🤣. I found that when l used my bread making machine my bread didn't come out right either😟 , but l had better success kneading it and putting in in a Dutch oven pot on my stove.
