@sonnykeith8338 She resigned because she spoke out of turn. If she had said nothing it would not be a problem. Nigel apparently told the world that no other bank would touch him. He has now said in a BBC interview that he was offered a Nat West account. He also accepted an apology from the BBC for reporting what turned out to be only part of the truth. Said he felt no ranker toward the BBC & repeated he had accepted the BBC apology. There was no need for the world to know anything about his account being closed. Possibly would not have done if Nigel hadn’t thrown his teddy out of the pram.
2
@sonnykeith8338 If I kicked my teddy’s out of the pram & told fibs I would not be too surprised if people wanted to state their position. They shouldn’t because if they betrayed a confidence that would make them as bad as me. That is the reason the CEO resigned. Should have kept her mouth shut.
2
@sonnykeith8338 Nigel being an ardent self publicist doe not always work in his favour. Sometimes it’s better to stay quiet. I am not suggesting he did anything wrong telling the world his account had been closed because it was below the account threshold. But claiming that no one would open an account for him was not true. The bank having an internal discussion about his political life was unfortunate. But it’s no more than has gone on in the 19th hole. A golf club also takes a potential member’s reputation into account. There are all sorts of reasons for not opening a business account. It could be as simple the business not being able to produce up to date signed off accounts.
2
@awpetersen5909 His constituency don't appear to want rid of him. He keeps being re-elected so they must be happy.
2
Labour MPs are normally union sponsored. Tories are usually backed by business.
2
@keithshippey230 The Tories are the reason the unions needed to formed in the first place.
2
@keithshippey230 Your History Degree. Dd you get it from Trump University ?
2
@atomiccritter6492 I voted stay. But people called me for it. They mostly said I do not care what it costs. I just wanted the U.K. to have its sovereignty back. Whatever it costs will be worth every penny.
2
Can’t blame Cameron. He advocated staying in the EU. Gave the Brits chance to make a democratic decision.
2
@Fraz-66 Or perhaps walked away. Discussed in the electorate. But I am pleased to see that judging the comments many British are overall pleased with Brexit & don’t seem to be put off by the boats.
2
@jackpayne4658 It’s Europe doing this not the U.K. Government. The French will be carrying out he checks at Dover which will save needing to do them before leaving the port at Calais. We will be checked on the way out as we enter Calais port. The photo & fingerprint are to confirm it’s the same person using the passport. I understand that it will also apply to the rest of the world so not directly to do with Brexit. I have a relation living in Kent. She says the the photos showing long queues of lorries appear to be from a while ago & do not reflect the current state of affairs.
2
aWOKEn to the ills of the world and wishing to combat them is aspirational.
2
Why would Elon bother about Tesla. He has the USA.
2
@BrianCharlesThomas-dp9du Because they make a mess of it. The general public would be best kept away from the polls.
1
Bit of a cheek. Brits ignored Cameron & voted leave. The British electorate are culpable.
1
The U.K. electorate voted for Brexit. Perhaps they should say sorry.
1
I am not keen on Nigel either.
1
@johnparish5498 You are about right. It was promote the trouble makers. The idea appeared aimed at making them more responsible for their actions. In school at least it made them more visible & usually less disruptive.
1
Let’s not forget we gave the Tories an increased majority at the last election. So the electorate are a big part of the problem.
1
Why is everyone becoming exited with the U.K. Government about this. It’s Europe, they want to know who is coming & going from the Free Movement area. The U.K. government are allowing the French to set up checks in Dover rather than have the checks made after arrival at Calais. We will have to go through them again when we exit the Free Movement area. Those checks will happen in Calais. I believe the same checks will happen to anyone arriving from anywhere else in the world. They are requiring photo & finger print from anyone entering & leaving. It’s not the U.K. requiring this & because the rest of the world is involved apparently nothing to do with Brexit.
1
@timelwell7002 Please explain how any of my comment could be seen as conspiracy theory ? The great British public voted for this. I envisioned trouble ahead only to be told I was part of Project Fear. We voted to leave in 2016. We made or bed & now have to lay in it. Is it time we learned to stop moaning & instead do our best to make the best of a bad job. One thing that does not help is the inaccurate information in videos like this one. It talks about the U.K. gov running the new biometric passport, fingerprint & facial recognition photo system. Claiming the U.K. gov would make a mess of it. It is not the U.K. gov it’s the French who will run it as part of their established immigration post at Dover.
1
@timelwell7002 I do have an answer, the only one going. Our world has changed. The best we can do is make the most of it. Or I suppose we could just give up.
1
Anybody wondering about queues at Dover may be interested in bookmarking this live camera. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-4ktcrds1U its mounted at the side of the A20 a few hundred yards from the entrance to Dover port. For anyone who does not know the area the port is under the cliffs that can be seen in the top middle of the view.
1
@YouD0ntSay Is that the people who started to realise that Project Fear could be right started saying. I don’t care if prices go up & things become more difficult. I am voting leave in order that the U.K. get its sovereignty back.
1
From what I have seen going the Dover & Calais biometrics should be quicker than the current faff.
1
@michaelmcnally2331 Back in the 1990s we certainly thought of Netscape as being a browser.
1
These biometric passports, finger print & photo checks are going to happen at all entry points to the European open boulder zone. The French are being allowed to set checks up at Dover allowing them to happen before vehicles enter the ferry waiting areas. Would most of us prefer that the checks happened in France before people could leave the port of Calais ? Rest areas on motorways leading to Calais have been shut for years. Their entrances closed of with large concrete blocks. The French closed them because people used them to gain access to lorries or even hassle car/van drivers for a lift to the U.K. How up to date are the photos showing queues. They could be years old.
1
Why did the ferries over book ? Hope they have learned a lesson & won’t do it again.
1
Is is a plan to deal with the biometric checks at Dover. They are installing extra French immigration lanes where the checks are due to take place. By the way I am one of the people part of Project Fear. Trouble is to many people said I don’t care what it involves I want the U.K. to have its sovereignty back. We are stuck with results is moaning about doing any good. Would we be better to be positive & treat it as an opportunity ?
1
@justmythought7658 I believe you to be correct.
1
@BDaMonkey As they say. It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good.
1
Could the English authorities follow Scotland’s lead. I went on the NC500 in September 2020. The lay-by & places were people might pull had trowels & a notice encouraging people to bury their excrement but take their toilet paper home. If it is good for Scotland why not the approach to Dover.
1
Anyone who is interested about traffic going to/coming from Dover Port may like this camera mounted at the junction of the A256 & the A20 a couple of hundred yards fro the port entrance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-4ktcrds1U

In my late 70s & voted remain I believe the wife voted the same way. A lot of younger people apparently listened to Nigel Farage who told them they needed to vote leave to bring a better future. Insinuating that my generation had betrayed them by going into the EU.
1
@grtcara8386 Where did you get the idea that my demographic predominantly voted leave. I did not an as far as I know non of my friends did either. We remember the pre EU days and did not want to go back. Nigel F kept saying we had betrayed the younger generations by going in. That people must vote leaving to insure freedom & prosperity for both the young & as yet unborn. As far as people voting Conservative in 19. The Brexit vote has happened three years earlier. Even people who voted remain had become wracked off with it dragging on and on & just wanted to ‘Get it done.’
1
@grtcara8386 I have tried & can’t find the figures you claim are there. Please supply a hot link.
1
@grtcara8386 Carried out that search & very surprised that you are correct. The leave thing did not wash with our lot. We had experienced pre EU. Looked at the ERG members & envisioned the laws they would like to land us with. Also Nigel F we recognised as an entitled public schoolboy who has made a fortune in the city. He has the stereotypical smirk of an attention seeker who winds up us groundlings for entertainment. The leave vote came a bit of a shock. The ones that served in Ireland see one advantage. It could finally precipitate the reunification of Ireland. Just need to hope the south will play ball.
1
Talking total shite. Not a term I would expect the BBC to use. I think they would use a much better than shite which is a bit lazy.
1
Someone does not appear to be aware of container ports where ships don’t need to skid onto the beach.
1
@ADifferentBias But all boils down to the fact that the U.K. voted for Brexit. All we can do is make the best of a bad job. Is continually moaning going to fix it ? I did not vote to leave but the majority did.
1
@mickeencrua I do support any changes that will help make the best of it. I voted remain but can’t understand why are many people just moaning. Instead of getting on with it. After five years the moaning is becoming tiresome.
1
@jounik You have just answered your own question. Best stop complaining & talk to them.
1
The U.K. population has clear warnings that they may be trouble ahead. I kept hearing reports of people saying. Don’t care about possible disruption & costs. I just want sovereignty back. I hope these same people aren’t now complaining. The democratic vote said leave. It’s now up to us to perhaps stop whinging & aim to make the best of to my mind a bad job.
1
What is this Operation Stack ? I thought that system ended 31st Jan 2020. Operation Brock has taken over. How many inaccuracies are in this report.
1
The road with the traffic calming choke is deliberate. It is designed too cut speeds. It’s possibly there due to local residents asking for it.
1
J R-Mogg knows what Brexit means to him. He sees those that don't agree as just not grasping the concept. Even if seen anything said on here will be dismissed out of hand.
1
Oh dear. More of the same old moan, moan, moan.
1
@bumblingborisbuffoon6259 I have visited Stop 24 on many occasions. The lorry park always looked well used. It was built before Brexit was even a thing. It is also worth popping into Stop 24 to see the purpose built in concourse customs facilities.
1
Not really sure why people are still moaning. We voted to leave the EU in 2016. We are stuck with it. People banging on about it won’t make a difference. The people have spoken. They spoke even louder when Bo-Jo said I will get Brexit done at the last General Election. We perhaps best get on with it.
1
I take coach trips. I come across people who say. Yes we knew we would be worse off but it’s worth it to be out of the EU.
