  8.  @keldsleepnot7961  It may not do any harm if you pop down & see if you can find these mythical queues. I have, queues are not normally there. There have been queues over the years but they have often down to industrial action on the ferries. On all the Dover Calais I have been on few of the crew are English. The Calais port staff can also seem a bit eager to strike. Lorries have their paperwork cleared before they enter the port. There at least two customs posts off the M20 where this is carried out. One is in the concourse at Stop 24. Please don’t take my word for it. It is in full view of the public. Pop in and take a look.

  9.  @Neil070  Were is the conspiracy. All we can see on Google Earth is what is there at the instant the photo is taken. Slight update. I have just taken a look where I live. For a couple of years the satellite view has shown a passenger jet between the camera & the ground. That jet is no longer showing. But if in doubt do what I have done. Pop along & look for yourself.

  13.  @grantbeerling4396  That lorry park at Stop 24 has been there for at over a decade. It is part of the service area that has been there from the get go. Certainly not a new build. What is new in the last couple of years is the customs post. No customs queue when I visited a couple of weeks ago.

No one can provide me with locations because as far as I know they don’t exist. I have asked for their locations. If anyone can tell me where to look I will go along & check for myself. In the meantime I am treating claims as disinformation.

  23. This suggestion the the U.K. Gov could stop customs checks. I am not sure that it a good idea. Unless of course you wish to import drugs, weapons etc. Stopping the checks would that be illegal.

  26. I understood that the French not the U.K. will be doing the biometric checks on the way to the EU. I have been on the ferry & tunnel crossings a few dozen times. Can’t really see that difference a couple of minutes extra is going to make. Either parked up waiting to load onto the ferry or hang around waiting the load the train for the tunnel or Eurostar. It is Europe requiring this & because it will also affect the rest of the world not directly to do with Brexit. Europe will apparently be checking us out again. The photo & fingerprint giving confirmation that it is the same person using the passport.

  29.  @YouD0ntSay  Here is me thought we were talking about the upcoming biometric passport/fingerprint and facial recognition photos & the fact that people appear to claim they would lead to queues. My point is that the extra time they take should make no real extra time to pass through the port. After all once we have been through the check we go to a waiting area. Only loading once a ferry has docked & unloaded. Also haven’t the Port of Dover announced that extra French Immigration lanes are going in to speed things up a bit. Lest we forget back in 2016 the U.K. voted to leave the EU. I could see trouble ahead & voted remain.

  43.  @Fraz-66  The overriding thing that people seem pleased about is being out of the EU. Some I met in a Middle Rhine hotel. They were overjoyed with Brexit did not care about any practical problems. One thing I had trouble understanding was. They were convinced that European hotels should treat them as VIPs. Apparently if the British stop traveling the EUs hospitality sector will collapse. Brits are delusional.

  49.  @alextaxi2593  I have just checked the route from home to Dover Port on sat nav. If there is a queue any sort of hold up the sat nav it will show up on the map & the projected ETA. No hold up on the approach to Dover Port at present.
