  2. I feel sure that shop lifting didn’t happen a lot before people put goods in their own basket. I was married with a child before coming across my first supermarket. Before that it was ask at the counter for things you wished to purchase. The shopkeeper put items in you bag you paid up and left the shop.

  7. Pensioners were into shoplifting even before my time as a shop worker in the 1960s. Part of my training was watch the pensioners. Some of them will nick anything that isn’t bolted down. Apparently to add a thrill to otherwise dull lives.

  8. To comply with National air quality regs London along with other areas needs to keep vehicle pollution down. Manchester is apparently doing it by excluding all vehicles from many places. London is taking the line of nudging away the most polluting vehicles. Standing up by Alexandra Palace & looking towards the Thames the pollution is hanging there for all to see.

  11. Just because you don’t like something does not make it illegal. ULEZ has a democratic mandate. In the last London Mayoral election two people who promised tackling vehicle pollution polled over 90% between them. The Mayor polled over 50%. London has to keep vehicle pollution down to comply with U.K. law. How would you do the job ?

  14.  @BurtReynoldstash  This line about Wales being all 20 mph zone is tosh. I drove from England to the Royal Mint Experience in Llantrisant. In the New Year. Didn’t see a single 20mph limit. This included calling at Newport Rail station.

EU regulations have standardised charging connections for phones, tablets, laptops etc. About a year or so back Apple & others said no way. They have now fallen in line. The EU are apparently mandating the that mobile phones, tablets & laptops must have user replaceable batteries. Looks like the world is going to follow. You may have noticed EU vehicle Euro emissions ratings are used over large parts of the world. So yes you are still greatly influenced by EU decisions. Why on earth did the U.K. leave the EU. If you had stayed you may not have even more sewage in the rivers. Also in the EU there was something called the Dublin something or other. Many people arriving by small boats could be returned to the EU. The U.K. voted to leave that arrangement.

  30. Brits party to blame. Used to be able to send people back into the EU under the Dublin Agreement. That agreement lapsed at Brexit. People can no longer be sent back. The smugglers must have thought all their Christmases had come at once. That along with along with the coming Golden Dawn is one of Brexit’s benefits.

  31. I started riding/driving before a national speed limit MOT etc. It came a a bit of a blow when we could no longer legally ride/drive at over 70mph.

A bunch of people who apparently don’t believe in democracy are taking deliberate action to try to stop it. Up to all sorts of antics inc. criminal damage to cameras & infrastructure. Plus throwing things at and hitting people. Seems things have reached a stage when it’s impacting on everyday policing. Which is one of the reasons some claim London crime is climbing.

  44.  @Newbie-is2xr  The normal biker parties work on an invitation basis. No ticket & you are not getting in. Anyone who is miserable isn’t going to be invited. Same with people who makes themselves unpopular they stop being invited. Clubs do share names so the word goes round. Anyone who is willing to perhaps ride hundreds of miles to camp in a field at all times of year isn’t likely to be a miserable sod.

  50. Isn’t it right that with all the separate allowances inheritance tax doesn’t come in under 600,000. If one partner dies the tax does not apply until the second passes ?
