Said no one who actually read the autopsy report...
2
Total bs. In fact if Vance tries to bring that up, he'll get trounced.
2
Because funding aimed at safe reopening and long term recovery are useless when you can just keep throwing a little money at the masses and make them go away for awhile...

The state and local governments responsible for handling the Portland riots allowed them to happen with very little effort on the part of their constituents to change their minds. If the people of Portland don't care if their city burns down, why should the rest of us? The attack on the Capitol building however, was an attack on the Constitution and the country as a whole. As such, it's a national story worth covering.
2
@sivan3125 Not true at all. Do some research.

Walk

Took me about two hours to to read...over 2/3 of it is just the legalese needed to prevent loopholes etc. The meat can be read rather quickly.
2
Trump's done. This is just a final spritz of air freshener to get rid of his lingering stench.
2
@lindatodd4504 Trump commended him on his handling of it so...
2
At least they'll be able to look at themselves in the mirror without cringing.

It's the upperbody strength.

The amount of alcohol necessary for one to find her act humorous would be well into the range for fatal alcohol poisoning.
2
@immortallord-ot5sn It will be overturned on appeal. The judge made sure of that. Doing so allowed the jury to appease the angry mob with a wrongful conviction and still keep a clear conscience knowing their verdict wouldn't matter in the long run.
2
Not even close to being a fair fight. Rand really doesn't have a clue what he's talking about and strikes me as someone who would have others do his fighting for him if it were to come to blows.
2
What the GOP became under Trump is indeed disgusting. The fact that the majority of them still grovel at his feet when they could have just learned from their mistake and moved on is just sad.
2
If he had a clue as to why he's behind in the polls, he would be afraid of her. But like last time he remains oblivious to the critical flaw in his approach.
2
Florida operates under a state of Florida...which is far worse than a state of emergency.
2
At least the judge went out of his way to make sure the verdict will be overturned on appeal. The jury should still be ashamed of themselves though. Just because they were given the opportunity to placate the angry mob with a wrongful conviction and still keep their consciences clear knowing it would be overturned on appeal, doesn't mean it was the right thing to do. Their cowardice is un-American and has done great harm to the country. The Democratic party better enjoy their brief moment in control. They just lost the vote of many independents and moderates who were the deciding factor in the recent election.
2
The bill has so little pork in it now that it's almost kosher...The GOP doesn't want it passed because it actually tries to do more than just be a band-aid... and because they failed to really accomplish anything along those lines when they ruled the roost and don't want to risk being outshined...again before the 2022 mid terms...where, unbeknownst to them, they're going get obliterated as party if they keep this petty bullshit up.
1
Yep, this is the moment we chose mob rule over justice.
1
Mark Willoughby Hopefully the jury's cowardice will be overturned on appeal like they expect it to be. I'd hate to have to look in the mirror every morning with a travesty of justice like this on my conscience.
1
That was removed. Move on to some other petty bs argument.

The monoclonal treatments have a major drawback in that they are a clone of an antibody for a specific strain of the virus and aren't usually going to be effective against other strains. Thus they're doomed to become obsolete almost as soon as they come out. Omicron is the dominant strain in Florida now but the treatments he wants are for earlier strains and Florida hospitals are already discontinuing their use (more or less) since they aren't effective against Omicron. Desantis couldn't care less about whether his actions will benefit the health of Floridians. He's just manufacturing an issue for political gain. He deserves to have someone call him on his bs rather than just let him waste resources for no good reason.
1
There is no saving this that won't come back to bite us equally as hard later. It's a no win situation all the way around. Though they really do need to quit bickering and pick a poison. Doing nothing will only prolong the agony.

@nancynoletcaldwell1157 When one makes a public comment, one asks for replies...

The $1,600/month unemployment benefit is not too shabby...though it does require some actual action on the part of the recipient. Also, a great deal of what's left in the bill is targeted toward safe reopening and long term recovery. The GOP is against the bill's source far more than it's content. Everything that was unnecessary and cost enough to matter has been dropped and they're still not happy. Edit: Also, assuming one has some basic reading comprehension ability, the original House bill this is based on has been available online for well over a week. It's not exactly dificult to research it on your own and simply apply the Senate changes to it. Again though, that would require action...can't have that.

There's been one incident on a 12 hour flight with no masks where 15 people caught it from a sick passenger. There have also been a few instances where a handful of people caught it. Again on very long flights with no masks (12 to 15 hours.) It's also very difficult to trace such things back given the variable and long incubation period. It's most likely safe for shorter flights. That said, it's not exactly a great idea to put yourself in a confined space with many people you don't know during an infectious disease pandemic.

@William Gates Cloth masks don't work (silk being an exception.) However, there have been tons of studies going back decades which clearly show that surgical masks can trap ~40% to ~70% of the respiratory fluid the wearer exhales (depending on the force behind it.) Which means that if everyone wore one in public (just in case they have it and don't realize it), there would be a significant reduction in the concentration of the virus others would be exposed to in their local environment. Such a reduction could easily be the deciding factor as to whether or not the amount of virus taken in will be enough to overpower the initial immune response allowing it to get a foothold and cause the illness. They don't do as well at preventing the aerosol droplets from being inhaled (~20% to ~30% blocked depending on the study.) However, when combined with the lowered exposure levels, that would still mean an additional ~10% to ~20% reduction. Adding a layer of silk to the mask will further decrease the amount inhaled by a bit. It's breathable and the static charge it builds from the friction of inhaled/exhaled gasses has a slight repellent effect on the water molecules in the contaminated aerosol respiratory droplets decreasing the amount getting through a little more. In the end, with everyone wearing such masks in public we'd be looking at ~50% less exposure at least.

The current monoclonals are ineffective against the current dominant strain. At the same time Desantis is asking for more, hospitals across Florida are already discontinuing their use for the most part since they're useless against the vast majority of the cases they're dealing with. This is purely a political ploy on Desantis's part and has nothing to do with the health of Floridians.

The indictment follows the extremely questionable SCOTUS ruling and a grand jury has voted. Let the lord of Mar a Lago come forth and let justice be done upon him.
1
Walz will mop the floor with Vance in the debate. Once again, right wing pundits will be shaking their heads in disgust at their candidates performance.
1
That would pretty much give the Dems another four years in the WH.
1
If you want your minimum wage increased, push for it at the state level. States are free to set their own as long as it isn't below the federal minimum. That would be a better approach anyway as the cost of living can vary quite a bit from state to state making a high set wage across the board a bit unfair. $15/hour in my state would leave me far more after basic necessities each month than it would in California for example. If the fed were to raise it, it should be set at somewhere around $10.00 to $12.50. The states could then adjust it from there.
1
Why? Only one person is required to be there to keep the childish stall going (two if you count the poor clerk having to read it) and the bill is available to the public to examine online. Well, the original version from the House anyway. All one needs to do is just apply the changes the Senate made to it and you'll have the current version.
1
@ILmylife108 Yeah. Unfortunately it's around fifteen times as contagious and ten times as deadly (even with it's low mortality rate.) With all the variants that it will spawn over the next five to ten years if not kept in check, people will find out the hard way why limiting the number of cases now was so important...
1
The living are equally as likely to be a burden on the economy as they are a benefit. The working are mostly a benefit (in theory anyway.) DeSantis and the GOP in general want as many of the people in the high risk category (mostly the elderly and those already in poor health) to die as possible because they're mostly a drain on the economy anyway.
1
If Israel didn't want to have to deal with groups like Hamas, they should have treated the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza as people not prisoners and undesirables. Groups like Hamas do not form in a vacuum and people don't elect them to power unless the alternative is simply not acceptable. Ultimately, Israel brought this on themselves and currently seem hellbent on continuing to do so.
1
The protesters at least had official police bodycam video of cops beating/killing people to point to. That doesn't justify them but at least they had something tangible as a source of anger. There's been no evidence presented in court under oath which backs the outlandish claims of election fraud inspiring threats against election workers.
1
Right wing biased polls have Walz's favorability ~5% greater than Vance. Most people just don't like Vance even if they like Trump.

Grow up child

It's not all on him but he could definitely lessen the problem if he wanted to.
1
Who cares about Presidential primaries? They aren't real elections and decide nothing. They're one of the most pointless wastes of money in our political system.
1
A significant amount of those who voted for Biden did so with the hope that some his campaign promises would not be met.

Prove it or shut up.

When the only choices are between someone one knows is bad for the country and someone one doesn't think will be good for it, the shinier of the two turds is the latter.
1
Apparently you haven't figured out how they work. The Constitution gives Congress the power to pass legislation giving them specific powers over an issue. Were they to give themselves such powers and pass legislation limiting what restrictions a state can place on the issue, said states would have to abide by them and SCOTUS would be Constitutionally obligated to uphold them. The only reason why the court can allow the Texas law to stand for now is because Roe v Wade only really prevents states from enforcing outright bans on abortion without addressing the issue of implementing restrictions and there are currently no laws at the federal level concerning limitations on state restrictions.
1
There's no legal way for him to be reinstated...learn how your government works.

@laneros2008 No
1
It might actually be accurate. 30% of Republican voters would be ~10% to ~16% of total voters. In any group you'd expect to find at least 10% to be nutjobs.

At least he asks for it rather than steal it like Trump...
