She should be worried. Tennessee's voting system is designed to discourage urban voters. Were that to ever change, people like her would be out of a job.

Political scientist isn't a real profession. It's the equivalent of arm-chair quarterback.
1
Tech people have offered to help him try to prove the allegations false and he has refused. What else is the GOP supposed to do with him if he won't even take steps to clear himself.
1
How can a man who tried to sabotage our European and Middle East rapid response hub in Germany (and partially succeeded) as well as did all he could to destabilize NATO, even remotely try to make it sound like he was good for our military. His bumbling around is what opened the door for Putin to invade Ukraine. Had he thought for a moment the US or NATO could have reponded as quickly as they could prior to Trump's meddling, he never would have tried it. Of all people, Trump has no business ever being commander in chief of any military ever, anywhere. 0:16

Slippery would be more accurate.
1
Completely pointless... Walkouts aren't illegal. They merely violate House rules. As such, the only thing law enforcement could do when such an "arrest" is made would be to return the Representative to the House. Regardless, it's a moot point since Texas law enforcement only has jurisdiction to make such arrests in state (which is why the House members left the state.)
1
It ain't 100% effective.
1
He only vetoed it because it was poorly worded and too broad when it came to the government's power. Had it been better designed, he wouldn't have hesitated to sign it. No governor would want to allow parents/guardians to have minors in their care forcefully sterilized. Especially when doing so would also require the state to chip in on the cost.
1
Comedian wise, he just didn't sell it. Gotta learn to read the crowd and not get rattled by a cold audience.
1
@pg_jem One desperate to expand their audience beyond edgy kids because NetFlix is sniffing around.
1
That was a long time ago before Trump corrupted him.
1
It would take longer than the time to election to build any suit. He may start his counsel on preparing one but he'll drip it shortly after the election either way. I doubt he wants to end up paying CNN's legal fees as well.
1
Unfortunately the unconstitutional ruling on that matter will not be moved on from so easily. In their stupidity, the six SCOTUS Justices responsible for it inadvertently removed OSHA's ability to enforce far more than just the vaccine mandates...
1
It's a strategic ploy. It won't have time to go anywhere before the election and he'll drop it soon after.
1
That's equally true for the "right" as well. People have to drop this childish polarization nonsense and start using a little critical thinking.
1
That would mean every election we've ever had would be forfeit...There's always a tiny amount of fraudulent/invalid votes to be found in any election. Things are just too big and complicated to prevent it all. To date, no one has ever shown proof of a large scale fraud capable of affecting the outcome. It's just a given that there will be a small but acceptable margin of error involved.
1
So he'd rather put on a completely pointless trial where the outcome has already been decided (acquittal on purely political grounds) just like the Senate Republicans did for Trump's first impeachment... brilliant... just brilliant. How about instead, he quit his disingenuous bs grandstanding and start working on ways to pull the state he represents out of the gutter.
1
Only if the answer fit his agenda. Otherwise, he would just do what he did at OSU.
1
But still nowhere near as chaotic as it was under Trump.
1
For those capable of reading and thinking more than 5 minutes ahead, there's nothing wrong with this bill. The false information spread about it has just been ridiculous. They may not be the best people we've ever voted for but they're better than the alternative by far. I will say that old Mitch's strategy of putting us all to sleep with his droning turkey tone is an interesting strategy though. If you can't beat then, bore them to death...
1
Ah... the mental 12 year olds of MAGA...
1
@TheRougeChef Speak like a child, get called a child.
1
@knothead35 Lying about it when it's found however is not past behavior.
1
@Garapetsa State legislatures are most certainly not making elections more fair and honest. The laws being passed by Republican led state legislatures are intentionally designed to make voting and the jobs of election workers in highly populated urban areas (the bluest areas of the states) a nightmare while adding no significant hardships to rural areas (the red areas.) It's pathetic and most of those supporting such changes have either not bothered to read the new laws completely, are too dense to understand the overall effect of what they've read, or are simply dishonest.
1
Everyone knows that.
1
Say what you will, but at least the private sector earnings get reported...
1
What exactly does Johnson think Biden can do? What he's asking would require more funding for the SS and that has to come from Congress, not the President. The current budget can't absorb the cost without taking agents off their current duties and devoting much funding. Every golf trip Trump took in office cost the taxpayer ~$500,000 after all and they were planned in advance. It would take a small army to secure a course on short notice.
1
If SCOTUS didn't govern themselves under "anything goes" rules, yeah. It would be called bribery.
1
The policies aren't the problem. It's the piss poor planning and preparation prior to implementing them where he and his administration have screwed the pooch. This border mess could have gone smoothly and without the mess had they simply had the proper infrastructure in place to handle it from the start. If they'll take the lesson Biden (hopefully) learned from his fall on the stairs and approach things more slowly and methodically from now on, they'll be more successful with their future goals. There's no point in rushing things if you don't have to.
1
@harryfarber6435 I wonder if Trump will take credit for wrecking the economy with mass deportations like what happened when Georgia drove their immigrant population out years ago...and then wished they hadn't almost immediately.
1
@PBA8 Real Americans
1
@tirana625 Better than $1B to China. That's how much of Former President Trump's debt is now owned by Chinese interests. To be fair, he only owed said interests ~$850M while he was in office...
1
Are you being disingenuous or do you just have the reasoning abilities of a child? The officers along the outside perimeter were spread far too thin so they fell back to the building. When officers were getting injured at the doors and it became evident that they couldn't hold back the mob there, they fell back hoping to contain the them in the lobby by taking advantage of the bottlenecks that would have to be traversed by those wanting to go any further into the building. When they realized they couldn't hold there either, they switched from trying to stop the mob to just slowing them down in order to buy time for the VP and Congress members to be evacuated. At no time were any of them invited in.
1
I notice he didn't mention the Congressional gym's cost...or any of the other perks he and his co-workers receive. Rand Paul, like McConnell, represents a state best known for reeking of horse...and receiving far more federal money than they pay in federal taxes...'nuff said.
1
High turnover rates are bad enough in the fast food industry. We don't need them in our government as well. People simply need to start doing a little more than looking at the letter besides someone's name and/or paying attention to campaign ads when it comes to choosing who to vote for.
1
It's sad when an excuse that children use and parents disregard is apparently legitimate in politics...to many of those same parents no less... Since when is the "they got away with it, why can't I?" defense legitimate? Especially when the thing the others supposedly got away with wasn't even a true analog to what the crybaby making the excuse did...
1
When they make a ruling with so little Constitutional support that five out of six of them don't even want their names attached to the majority opinion, they pretty much become irrelevant anyway.
1
The federal law prohibiting protesting SCOTUS justices is unenforceable (and anyone qualified to be such a justice should know that.) It applies "in or near" their property but does not define "near." As a result, as long as protestors don't set foot on their property or impede traffic to and from it, arresting them would be pointless as the case would have to be thrown out. The courts can't just arbitrarilly pick a distance as the boundary of "near" after the fact. The law needs to be clear so that protestors know exactly what the legal limit is.
1
Tell it to the jury that chose the amount.
1
You're in the minority.
1
Virginia was incompetent in handling their voter registration (in multiple ways) and ended up violating federal law. The court can only rule on the case against the State. It doesn't have the authority to block registrations.
1
@DrDangerPuppy Have fun going to jail for filing false claims...
1
A corrupt god maybe...
1
Someone might want to check and see if these Senators (and/or their family/friends) stand to benefit financially from it's completion... People have been easily climbing over/tunneling under the completed parts since they were built. In terms of effectiveness versus cost, the wall (and it's future upkeep costs) is a waste of money. It would be better to reevaluate the border situation and find a more effective use for it.
1
Not at all. Both of their bot armies as well as those of other BRICS nations are pushing hard for Trump online.
1
@NunyoBudness The Venezuelans are here legally as well and are not criminals as his debate lies implied. The vast majority are refugees from their dictator who came here seeking freedom only to find a tyrant running for President scapegoating them for votes.
1
We're going to get economically destroyed by this baffoon...
1
I hope one of the adults present had some words with this little manchild in the parking lot afterwards. We wear the masks primarily to hinder/prevent ourselves from spreading it to others via exhaled respiratory dtoplets in case we are infected and don't know it or can't remain quarantined. Taking his off like that tells those there that childishly grandstanding for votes is more important to him than being a potential risk to his colleagues' health.
1
Not entirely. They were arguably right about the specific argument used in Roe v Wade being too weak to stand. However, They did not do their due dilligence when it came to determining if the constitution contained any other protections/rights that might apply to abortion in some way. There are. For example, bans on abortion (prior to 24 weeks at least) violate the 13th amendment's prohibition of involuntary servitude. There are hundreds if not thousands of rulings where the courts have recognized carrying and giving birth as a form of work (rulings where the mother was given the final say under the argument that she would be the one to have to do the work of carrying and giving birth.) If it's work, then the 13th amendment indirectly covers it (no one can be forced to do work against their will.) If the 13th covers it, then the 10th amendment can't apply. Thus SCOTUS would have no constitutional grounds to send it to the states.
1
Project much. Trump is the master gaslighter.
