  9. No, if anything I was better on pretty much everything. I know another person who told me that he had gotten much better lab results. The reason is obvious: if you don't go to restaurants anymore, then you tend to eat less salty and fatty dishes.

  21. That question doesn't even make sense. "Natural immunity" means that you had COVID-19, which means that those who will develop long COVID-19 symptoms already have them. Long COVID-19 does not give natural immunity. I have a relative who has long COVID-19 symptoms and who had the active disease for a third time, already.

  28. Sorry to hear that. Your experience matches that of my relatives. They caught a pre-alpha in 2020 and some of them described it as the worst experience of their lives. They got omicron a couple of months ago and everybody was really sick for about two weeks. It's nothing like a flu or a mild cold. One of them has long COVID symptoms in addition. He went from being healthy and fit (he did a 100km bike ride just shortly before he got infected) to having constant fatigue and pain. I wish you the best!

  29.  @mightyblues7  I know a young medical doctor who had a case of a "mild" delta infection, but he caught it at work. I would assume that he took all the antivirals as soon as he tested positive, which would have been hours, if not days sooner than the average person. The young (in their early 20s) family members in my family complained about it being a horrible experience. The only really "mild" case for us was a less than one year old infant who had slight fewer for a couple of days. Yeah, sorry... the myth that "it's just a flu" doesn't want to go away, no matter how many people know better.

Don't know about a couple of months, but eight of my relatives had it twice in about a year and a half and another couple had it for the third time now (he has long COVID in addition), so whatever immunity people get from an infection, it doesn't seem to last significantly longer than for e.g. the flu or the common cold.

  35. I had mononucleosis as an adult (I sipped from the wrong cup at a party... I didn't even get it through a kiss...). Boy, that was a rough year. I had to take unpaid time off from work because I was basically useless in the office. I had a good employer at the time who was willing to pay me for the hours I was in... but that was not fun.

  36. Vaccines work two ways: they reduce mortality in those who get them (and that worked nicely) and ideally the disease can't spread in a fully vaccinated population. The last thing didn't work because too many people are not getting the vaccine. Of course it's those who didn't get the vaccines who are dying now... karma is a you know what.

  42. In my family the statistical evidence is as follows: everybody who has been vaccinated with Moderna or Pfizer didn't have COVID-19 even once. The eight antivaxxers in the family had it twice and a couple who were vaccinated with sinovax had it three times, already. One person has long COVID-19 symptoms.

The same people who have a lifetime of experience with flu and the common cold, neither of which humans have any level of "natural immunity" to, are claiming that this respiratory disease has to be magically different and disappear on its own. There is absolutely nothing in any of the data that we have seen that would indicate that COVID-19 won't cost millions of lives every year going forward, unless we actively prevent it from killing us.
