Fun..where I come from we learned winter rally driving going up hills backwards in Mini Cooper. In 66..but huge difference between having fun in sun and snow and trying to get along a frozen icy highway w crosswinds in -40 ..that lonely and scary white knuckle stuff..btw, in Calgary years ago, guy drove his ferrari all winter. Love it
1
Nice one...pretty straight and honest enthusiasm towards improving a car and making it personal. I relate.
1
Agreeed..wash properly or not at all
1
To the extent track days are about the feel of actual racing..this is part of the equation...imagine dicing it up and feeling the rubber going off..fun stuff
1
Subarunear died..found its vibe women..lesbian and gay guys..put ads in all the magazines ..saved them. So ever since they do this hyper safety thing. Ala highsills vs seeing and taking care oneself. And over safety alerts. Anyway..good respectful job well done
1
I’d think prices reflect reliability.
1
Not sure it’s the trick thing for winter..lack of weather sealing...would wonder reliability...
1
Tedward it’s more to the toy end of things..for backcountry all year beating on a vehicle it’s hard to top either a taco or else anything costing $5k or under that you never wash and carry a mountain bike in back in case it breaks down. Cathy has fibromyalgia and she spent ten years as wildlife photographer in tacos and FJ...it’s not the same I know but when chosen properly and used as tool for the job, trucks offer a lot...kinda interested to see the reincarnation of land rover that’s called a Gladiator. We drive past a Jeep dealer on way to town most days and must admit they have a nice look..

It’s to drive from London to nice avec vitesse
1
or backroads so potholed this car would be just a seat left in pile of rubble. Wah
1
Benjamin it’s outdated, past it’s time, badly made
1
Dunno I can’t say I buy the spiel. Alfa and reliability seems the issue. And all these SUV’s.
1
Chief Beef of course...but there is still hassle and impact of reputation on resale
1
Herds of Delicas around here. Bloody death vans. Your K looks better
1
I can see where that would help...can also see in a race where things come unglued with the bump throwing guys off their lines
1
Tom, what aboUt mall crawling in snow...fail!
1
Tedward don’t get me wrong. Cathy was long time toyotachick. Tacomas4runners fj. Fj was her weapon of choice she was backcountrywildlife photographerbut w fibromyalgia so couldn’t hike wher kit in backcountry. Very remote, verygnarly. Where possible we did coilovers, stuff sidewall tires..brake pads..always tires on OEM are crap
1
Tedward most toyota -roducts if not most Japanese have soft sidewall cheap tires that give BarcaLounger ride supposedly, but at compromise of any handling..not just in turns, but stability on pebbles, iced ruts..car grabs and wanders...I get on my rant when even mall crawlers are actually unsafe in varied conditions. People assume summer condition driving will be the same at any time of year or weather..and blithely point and shoot their cars expecting too be good..”I have a 4wd so am fine”. Doh.
1
I’ve driven one, and loved it at speed..you were taking it easy as the cars value dictates...loved it..more than any any pts gt3
1
Tedward just not an intermechanica Kit one!...the 356 are slow, maybe don’t handle like a modern car, but can really be fun to push..this one is sweet but as you suggest, too expensive by far, and equally rare beyond price..so not the thing to pull a James Dean in
1
They handle,Ike crap..but it’s all throttle. Needed long umbilical cord to fuel pump! But dude was a life experience. Did numerous 8 hour trips. So much fun.
1
Tedward I get it, but socially there is more and more pushback..the chasm that separate super rich from food stamps and not much in between..cars were not that way once..gentlemen were discreet..not now..
1
One of the stupidest vehicles out there in generally stupid times..
1
Get you pilot license. ..ha ha..the unimog be great as rescue truck for the guys playing w dirt crawling trucks
1
Tedward I knew you had flown..am one who thinks flying, high performance DH skiing, descending on a road bicycle..all give give us a feel that both helps with driving at speed, and with enjoyment. An icy DH course on edges and feeling that an error would have consequences, ditto a bike crash...
1
Balky shifts? Clutch needs a fireplug thigh? Hell I love it.
1
Coffee...it’s our treat...hang in...
1
That cage rocks! Love it. Owner did very very well
1
Like you, no great Susie fan, but this sounds great and sure looks fun...grassroots is fun...stay safe...your advice is sound both cars and life

Really good stuff...thankyou so much
1
It’s a special car..I drove one in an earlier version...kinda bucket list thing. I’d do just what you did with one now..
1
Cathy my co conspirator in cars and life wants this car too
1
Tedward ha ha...it’s all luck. She’s quite a chick after 48 years together
1
You are bang on wet YouTube stuff..you actually enjoy your driving as well as respecting cars...probably driving more. I follow you because you drive and are darned good at communicating the experience..we are old..70..enjoy driving and cars..keep it going. The honesty..even in terms of being open about yourself..comes thru. Good shit you guys
1
High wheels are for fat guys. Ha ha. You aren’t. It’s a moment in time and nice still. It’s got m8 etc off the back and trite
1
Well done...it’s hard not to be cynical...but often money talks and integrity falls away
1
Chemex,, kone filter..good coffee..well done w the promo
1
Well said: shit happens so nobody should be so foolish as to think their skills will keep them safe...be skilled, and be careful...truly sucks
1
