  5. I googled the Collingswood High School wrestling images and pulled up only white wrestlers. You don’t know who started the fight. The hockey coach could have been intoxicated for all we know and instigated the fight. He looks rather fit in the photos. Most people don’t walk up to an athletic dude and pick a fight for no reason. It’s a manslaughter charge not involving a firearm. The prosecutor may need to go through a juvenile court certification procedure to charge the kid as an adult before they’re permitted to publicly ID the kid. It’s not like Rittenhouse where a gun was involved. Many states automatically certify a juvenile straight to adult court when a firearm is involved.

  27. In the mid-1980’s, I was in my early twenties and hired as a counselor at Southampton Summer Day Camp for a group of 6 and 7 year old boys. The mother of “Darryl” introduced herself to me. She explained that Darryl was ADHD. She volunteered that she gives her consent for me to hit him whenever he gets out of control! I replied that I had no intention of doing that. Over those 7 weeks, I literally had my hands full with Darryl acting out. Sometimes I ended up physically restraining him and carrying him against his will to join the rest of the group which I would delegate to the junior counselor. However, I never struck Darryl despite permission from his mother to do so.

  31. I agree with you in principle. I too noticed the parsing of words and suspect the Police are trying to deflect their own comparative negligence by chasing that guy in violation of their policy but using a softer word for it. However, It’s not busy in Center City at 10 pm on a Tuesday night.

  41. In the 1970’s, Philadelphia Democratic Mayor and former Police Chief Frank Rizzo controlled crime with an active baton. In the 1990’s, he was the last legitimate Republican candidate for mayor but died during the primary if I recall.

  42. You sound unfamiliar with Philly. “Brewerytown” there is not “the ghetto.” Actually, the white yuppies there have been denigrated for the “gentrification” of the neighborhood. Second, most of those “papi” stores/ bodegas are family-owned. They generally employ only their own relatives to work for them. Many Latino immigrants economically start at the bottom and work their way up. Try going to the parking lots at 7:00 am where they congregate to be chosen for day labor under the table. Go yell at them to get a GED and get a real job. Go to the mushroom fields in Chester County and tell them to get a “respectable” job. They’re safer in the Philly “ghetto” than in the gang-infested streets of the Dominican Republic or Honduras. This murder smacks of a personal issue. There’s no sign of a robbery or shoplifting. The store had a gun in a fruit box in the store room or whatever but dude wasn’t carrying it and didn’t have time to go get it.
