  1. Mr. Parker has a 4 page rap sheet. He is a convicted felon, having been convicted of drug trafficking. He also has a misdemeanor gun possession conviction. Most of his record is DUI and drugs. Just last week, he was in court for a third shoplifting charge. He never grew up. That lady did the community a public service by taking out the trash.

  2. The reporters characterized it as a “shootout.” The cop did not say that. The cop said the AR-15 was found in “that” car. However, he didn’t specify whether “that” car was the Cadillac driven by the decedent. I am assuming that the AR-15 was found in the abandoned Jeep and that the Ruger on the street belonged to one of the three guys in the Jeep. For all I know, the decedent only was guilty of racing on the street.

  3. Agreed. I disapprove of bullying but it’s part of growing up. Verbal abuse and light physical nonsense is part of being a kid, as long as it’s not physical assault. We called each other every type of homosexual name out there before I even understood their definitions. One of my track teammates always called me a “pencil-neck geek.” One kid threw snowballs at my friend and me at the school bus stop. One tough kid bumped into me in the Middle school hallway. I said, “watch it!” He tackled me, punched my face, and cut his fist on my braces. Yeah, I got the worst of it but I stood up for myself and he never bumped into me again. On the middle school bus, my friends were insulting kids. I wanted to feel cool with them so I called a girl “iguana face.” Five years later, we were at a New Years Eve party. She walked up to me and asked if I remembered calling her an “iguana face” back in middle school. I apologized and admitted I was a jerk for saying that. Sometimes it takes awhile to grow up.

I only know of Whitaker & Bleigh. Please tell me he didn’t pronounce “Bleigh” as “Blayg.” It’s pronounced “Bly.”

  9.  @phillydee1004  , the police summary stated that the robbers spoke Spanish. That store is a Dominican bodega. The family who owns the store used to be a customer of mine. It’s possible that the robbers are black or dark-skinned Latinos. It’s a good chance the robbers are Latinos rather than African-American.

  12. I clicked on the video headline for a typed summary. The summary does state “Bustleton Avenue.” A comment also states “Roosevelt Boulevard area.” Even so, both roads obviously span several miles of the Northeast. Neither vague street name is sufficient without a cross street.

Really outrageous. 1:30. Unrelated matter but he spelled his last name with three letters “s” on his truck but the TV producer misspelled the name with two letters “s” when interviewing his mom. Just wish the newsroom would try harder to supervise their production staff. Otherwise it was a good news segment.

  21. The principal issued a statement stating that the stabbing occurred across the street from the school. Technically, that was not on school grounds and public property. Seems as if school staff just allow their teenage students to wander the block in good spring weather on Friday as some sort of start to the Memorial Day weekend.

  23. These owners don’t get it. These kids aren’t after the cash or the food. The kids are after the cars. I was a delivery driver for ten years. My Toyota was stolen during the Trump Administration. My Honda was stolen during the Biden administration. They carjacked me for the Honda. My manager did warn me about “new” customers. Instructions were to call “customer” on cellphone when I arrived, sit in my car, watch for front door of home to open, then leave car. Customer must come down to open front door even if apartment building. Otherwise, no sale, bring food back to restaurant. Both robberies were avoidable but I made mistakes. Fortunately, police found both cars intact within weeks.

  26. Most DA’s don’t go after good “citizens” illegally possessing a gun in certain circumstances. Thirty years ago, I was a public defender in a conservative suburban county. The court appointed me to represent a 50 year old first offender for an unlicensed gun charge. He hadn’t used it. I think maybe the cop saw it after pulling over his car. The client told me that he was like a Town Watch confidential informant in the hood and carried for protection. I notified the DA, who verified our claim with his Drug Task Force cops. The head elected DA came downstairs, shook hands with my client and personally dropped the charges before the judge.

  44. My father commuted from NE Philly to 10th & Orange In Wilmington in the 1980’s to work at DuPont. In 2019, my car was stolen in West Philly and turned up in Wilmington 3 weeks later. I went down there and had to pay $250 to get it out of impound. I drove Uber from Philadelphia to Wilmington a couple times in 2021. Aside from that, I can’t speak on it.
