Edison has not developed anything new, have no serial manufacturing, have zero proprietary technology or intellectual property. All truck brands uses diesel engines combined with wheels...It's not like when one company did that combination, no others where allowed to...
2
thanks for spending your time here, and supporting the channel
2
are you a VW/Scania stock owner?
2
That's correct. The euro trucks always used to have the setup with the butterfly valve. Not as much noise as the US jake brakes. Noadays other more 'refined' systems than the butterfly valve is in use I guess
2
There are big investments involved, needs to build a factory in the US to avoid high import taxes, and develop US versions of the trucks to suit the special rules. With the American market being very into hooded trucks, the Euro brands are not sure if they can sell enough to cover all the additonal expences going in to the US market with cab forward trucks. International/Navistar is Scania's sister company in the US There are to be set up, or already there, a production line for inline 6 Scania engine to be offered as choice in International trucks. Navistar has also been involved with selling some new Scania dumptrucks for offhighway usein Canada. There are some development
2
Don't know. But I will think this is quite possible a 1 off truck. 770S for a small camper is purly for fun, not something the majority would choose.
2
We in Europe are a bunch of cry babies that wants all Scanias to be done our way. If not, we unsub.
2
of a ruined shoulder and reduced hearing
2
They got millions of RVs and buses, no nose, surely many can be able to lve wth a cabover. Older US cabovers have grown popular in recent years among some truckers as there has been very few of them to be seen on the roads for a couple of deades now
2
Making more money than less money is never madness to companies. It is worth more as an donor truck. That is why.
2
There is a different for sure. Many US truckers seems to like it a bit more basic, more sound, manual gear change than Europe and especially the nordics where drivers are pretty into having max comfort behind the wheel
2
Not so. A foregin brand can put up a plant in the US, anytime, start selling. Scania has not seen it as good economically to go for the US market, not seen a large demand for cabovers, and focused at the rest of the world
2
The knowledge is there for sure. Company greed is higher in the US. More profit manufacturing simpler trucks, and selling them at a higher cost than more advanced euro trucks. Dollar rules. And some other factors.
2
feel free to donate
2
No one. Scania is not sold in the US. If sold in the US in the future, probably will be Scania dealers within the Navistar/International network of dealers/shops
2
the point of ths particualr truck is maybe to see if, and to what possible degreed, americans have ANY potential interest AT ALL in a euro style cabover. It would not hurt to have all details in the frame visable, but I think at this stage the big elephant in the room is 'the Cab'.
2
It's Scania's truck, and it's about marketing, both in the US and other place around the world where viewers of the channel are. If Scania goes for the US market in the future, they will have a plant there like most other veichle manufacturer does, to avoid the import issues
2
alot of miles on it, many years on the road. Trukers in northern Europe better want newer stuff. Such trucks are often exported to Africa, the Middle East, where they will run for many years
2
very few americans love V8's, but there are allways exceptions
2
Scania is on the top in many drivers view when it comes to comfort. And you know it well;) Sure, several trucks out there that do the job,, and there are trucks that got a better total economy than Scania and Volvo
2
Show/demo vehicle only. Trucks to be used for commercial hauling is different.
2
There are a few different tire options popular in the US, and one very common is the same as on this Scania. Yes.
2
Luckily you are not a business leader. To arrogant and under-estimating the competition.
2
Yes. Yes they do. All.
2
Age caught up to it. Can happen the best. More economically to the companies to go for a newer than keep on repair the old ones after a certain age/distance. Most of these are exported to Africa, Middle East for a second life
2
300-400 a day, all factories combined.
2
Exellent vocational truck, inter-city trucks
2
The group now also own International/Navistar in the US, so the basis for a dealership are there. As of now prodution of Scania inline 6 engine(s) to be offered in International trucks is going on, or the factory is in the building phase in the US
2
10 ton on a rear axle of a truck, and trailer axle, is the usual max allowed in Europe and other places, and what most trucks are built according to. 770 is not used for 2 axle trucks and 40 tones weight, they are used for trucks with more axles, 50 ton + weights, and especially in place with many hills
2
Your statement makes no sense. The US would been filled with Euro trucks if americans trucks could not do the job. Many years ago.
2
@Asp1resDS If a big enough market for Euro trucks in the US, the Euro manufacturers would built factories in the US, like so many foregin car brands, no problem there. The US are able to transport it's goods from A to B, there are millions of US trucks on the road 24/7. Just not worry about it.
2
The letter infront of the number is the traditional Scania system. Only with the S cab they put the letter in the end. Merceds Benz took Scania to court over naming trucks 'S560', S770 and so on, as it looked to much the same as their S-class car names
2
Demo truck owned by the manufacturer, for marketing only, can be allowed road legal, 1 year at the time
2
the Scania is not allowed to do any commercial stuff. Guess it can haul things 'for free', no insurance and so on. Not sure. Would try contact him at his business email or similar
2
thanks for pointing out
2
One of the safest truck cabs manufactured
2
Yes, the handle is just for emergeny, fifth wheel is remote controlled
2
1000 hp or something is used in the pre-marketing to show off, but I guess the production models will be limited to soemthing ordinary, like 500-600 hp which Scania and other manufacturers do, as it makes little sense economical with more, especially with just hauling 80.000 lbs total as in the US. With 1000 hp at hand, many drivers will just accelerate too much for fun and greatly reduce the total distance able to travel on a charge.
2
Scania will be the owner of the truck, Bruce will drive it. Only way to get it road legal in the US, a demo truck owned by the manufacturer
2
How does this make your life more difficult on a daily basis
2
The US trucks are much about the big sleepers. Many truckers are on the road for weeks at the time, and it's great having a good space in the back
2
Your mother told ya that..right?
2
Yu just seems not so well informed. There is no 'scam'. There will be a mix of vehicles in the future, diesel, gas, electric, hydrogen, natural gas. All will have their strong and weak sides, that needs to be picked for their specific use @brianwhelan5382
2
Lol...love the sarcasm) Yes, he gives a shite what some people in Europe possible think, except Scania Sweden who wants him to bring attention to their truck in the USA first of all, and do whatever he feelss will help in getting more americans come over have a closer look at shows, and be exposed to the brand name, a euro cabover.
2
That's pretty interesting.
2
500hp is what they need, mostly. 36tons across the flat prairie, mostly
2
Volvo always have been a small step in front of Scania regarding transmissions and axles. Today if might be even.
2
'My uncle got a Scania 1982 model that overheated. Since then I hate Scania because the always overheat..according to my uncle!'
2
He likely will come back to those details once the truck arrives the US in a few months
2
Seems you do. Scania nearly 50 years in Ireland, not bad.
