How does this analysis not perfectly describe America? The parties choose who you will vote for, the parties run the caucus and the whole shebang. The gov continuously ignores facts when convenient. And the whole Russian influence on elections is so overblown, to say that they are transmitting anything to an audience that is significant in any way is asinine. The reach was miniscule and the data breach has been shown to be local IE downloaded from the source, so in effect the highest amount of fake anything is coming from local sources. Not to give Putin or Russia a free pass but when was the last time Noam Chomsky or the like was on CNN or MSNBC? Last I checked, his platforms were limited to Democracy Now and RT...and who is fascist?

Because Epstein didn't commit suicide?

What a great teacher she is.
45
I have a feeling my idea for a penis hat would not only cause great offense in anyone wearing one of her hats, it would probably be illegal....go figure, imagine my surprise.
43
I predict massive local debt, loss of privacy, exploitation of workers, exploitation of the poorer areas and brutal crackdowns on any protest. But on the lighter side of things, profits are assured, people will pay the bill for the infrastructure, the cocaine will flow in the private booths and the masses can have their football cake. Good times...good times.

Big Think is FULL of social narratives lol
30
Give me a break, psychopaths do not lie on our behalf.
24
Just to tackle some of the arguments against the Norway model posed in the comments: 1. It is paid via taxes, not by business owners. 2. It is for any sex and can be shared by partners. 3. It is an indirect economic stimulus, she never stated it was part of GDP. 4. The majority of the world is poor and cannot even afford proper schooling. If you want to live in a world that makes smart, forward looking choices for the better of society then free education and maternity leave are forward looking economic stimulus paid for by tax. Think of it as social infrastructure. So if you still disagree with it, that's fine, just learn what you are talking about...lol
23
I live in the "sorry I have torrents and an Android box now NetFLIX" economy.
22
Why is an anonymous internet commentator questioning an evolutionary biologist? Seriously though, he is commenting on a phrase, not the law itself.
20
***** That is an invalid comparison. It would be better to say they agree on a proper procedure that can be reduplicated by anyone.
17
"The problem is that it not only disrupts our monopoly but also our narrative." NYT.
14
So if I pour coffee into a cup and stir at the same time...I am doing it "pourly"? Seriously though, combining multiple tasks into one action does not necessarily equate to poor results.
12
Let's not talk about giving 10 year old children a device that allows them this type of access or how social media is essentially doing the same thing via another psychological route because that would require a deeper probe and personal accountability. The problem is much deeper than porn, porn is a side effect of our blind evolutionary progress vs our blind social progress.
11
Racial cohesion is an illusion, we are all mutts. Yes you too.
9
He is an economist, and as far as I can tell, one with no history of political office...so how is that possible?
9
Compelled speech based on a preference is not the same as an insult or abuse, let's not conflate them. This is not about pronouns it is about the golden rule, his exercise is an exercise in the golden rule or in empathy if you will.
8
Yeah as someone pointed out, if you think they are using a zero G plane, the plane would have to drop from outside the atmosphere in order to keep the illusion of weightlessness for so long....so in other words they would be in space already lol
8
Unless you are a plank of wood, or the CIA, the fall of the Berlin wall, at least to most people, meant that the trapped people were free and the global threat of nuclear war, averted. Anyways, this guy lives under a rock if he thinks American foreign policy is ideological based and not one of global expansion of business.
7
The term vulnerability used here should be replaced with accountability. Everyone makes mistakes but few will own up to them, fewer still will try to make it right.
7
I think limited research is limited? Steve Jobs was not an inventor so why use him as reference? lol?
6
1 1/2 years of data and this guy thinks that tells us anything? Moron.
6
Good luck in a power outage or local/national emergency. Having no hard currency is dangerous for everyone but the rich.
6
If you're talking about large corporations you have a point but not all businesses can afford more than they are paying.
6
rurounisld What is their miracle? And most economists are caught with their pants down during crisis so lol
5
I hate correlative arguments and considering most new legislation that has "compromise" written all over it also has names like "Patriot" and "freedom" it would be a good thing for a breakdown of compromise so NOTHING gets passed because you know for a fact they HATE patriots and freedom.
5
At least and have the intellectual honesty to rename "BigThink" into "WhatToThink".
5
I saw the debate between her and Arnold, they are both dump posts. The only one that made sense was nameless Green Party guy. Great, sleep...miraculous.
4
Youtube you are broken, go home lol
4
The point here is that the risk he posed was limited, whereas the risk in throwing away the basis of your rights under the law is not. So yeah I guess a team of soldiers entering a friendly nation to kill Osama without permission was acceptable? But in the case of Al-Awlaki it isn't?
4
VOX....lol I feel bad for the amp company.
4
Communism pollutes as well, why do people never think about these things?
4
In an ungendered society, there can't be "feminine traits"....hahaha their logic is nonexistent.
4
Trump IS the mainstream power structure. He is the very sort that would buy congress.
4
I think he is assuming the end here. It is no more accidental than the rest of the universes. And instead of finding a unifying principal within one universe, why not one for all? Small think lol?
3
People seem to love burgers, pizza, sushi, etc....all different cultures created these lovelies to be "appropriated".
3
Zero cost = zero need for labor = no consumer. Unless I messed the part where there is free energy, free transport, free money and no pollution, there is no "free". How could he miss the part where we are entering into an almost fully automated society and have nothing to offer but "free" stuff in a market of free stuff? And big data needs access. Some is classified, some comes with cost because it is a specialty service. And I am not sure about the internet of things being a good thing, at least the extent of its distribution.
3
This is just what the bankers want. A digital currency in a global financial system. Of course this makes banks 100% useless but they wont bring that up.
3
The back end of food production is the problem. Even without wasting 5-6 bushels for every one produced, the run off from animal waste and fertilizer is really bad, as is the depletion of potable soil and available groundwater. Plus all those animal farts.
3
What are you going on about? Game theory does "exist" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_theory And body language exists. It is a form of communication that existed prior to spoken languages and is baked into the pie in human communication. Reading it is not a perfect science but can be a game changer along with other clues.
3
Soooo you're saying the military is the largest socialist work program ever?
3
Sponsored by the WEF.
3
My 6 year old daughter wants to know what the thumbnail represents.
3
This is what happens when an opinion becomes a legal definition. Anything you don't like can now be construed as sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is about intention and that is the end of this story.
3
Technically, as far as we know, chaos derives from the same source everything else does and that is the big bang so if that is correct then it isn't chaos just more effect from the original cause IE hard determinism.
3
It's a huge industry, every city has a large crew of sanitation workers throughout the system.
3
It's not a pandemic, people just need a thicker skin for opinions that are different or for trolls looking to get under your skin. The entire issue hinges on subjectivity of perception, some people deem criticism as hate and some people certainly do not hold all to the same standard. What's worse? A White supremacists hatred of a Jewish person or a Jewish persons hatred for a Palestinian? If you made a choice between the two, or, you can concede that a choice could be made via popular opinion then you concede that it is truly subjective because hatred is hatred.

If Silicone valley is made up of entrepreneurs...
2
Right because women never cheat lol And FYI Kosher dude, men are prone evolutionary forces and people are not monogamous.
2
Albin Larsson At present you are correct, it is essentially a black market tool. But that does not mean they can't close it down or regulate it. If they didn't create it to begin with.
