The number of recipients dropped through people finding jobs or just refusing to be in the program.The one article I just checked again are touting ~30 million in savings.

  17. People are too busy playing identity politics instead of focusing on poverty. Deal with poverty and the disparities/racism seen in minority population will shrink. Non Profits, like Safe Parking, do so much more to help in time of crisis than government will ever do

  19. "It's somebody's home that is being taken away from them".. Yeah the owner when non paying renters won't leave. It should be criminal but clear procedure should be created. Maintaining the properties is another issue. Tenants should be allowed to break the lease before the start of every month. So the most time a tenant would spend in a home that is not properly maintained is 30 days.

There is no state where a 18 year old walking into a voting place is met with any hurdles not easily met. This is not true for gun ownership. Or if you believe this... tell me which state you are referring to.

  34. This is the 2nd time the boy spoke to his mother. She mentioned in their talk that the phone wasn't working. Was that the phone at the detention centre or at the home? Main thing I heard is the USA should de a better job telling the world to not come. How this mother did not understand that going out of your way to enter a country illegally might have consequences baffles me.

This is the same as not finding a product and asking the manufacturer to make it. Me - "I really like your trucks but I am looking for one with an electric engine" You - "Go make it yourself" I don't see how this equates to me being delusional. Julia, the woman in the video, said she is a researcher that looks at terrorism and she went on to say she goes undercover in those groups to have more prevention and intervention. I would like to see another "report" from her and covering some of the other, at least in some level, problematic groups. This is within her and VICE news wheelhouse. I'm not asking for a video about how an internal combustion engine works or how to fix it.

  37. As another poster said "composting food scraps, non-glossy paper, and cardboard would cut their trash by about 40%." NO government intervention needed.Citizens just need to do it. For the other 60% some entrepreneurship is needed. I'm sure someone can pull some of the plastics and metals, repurpose and sell. There is this idea that government should be responsible to force change upon people and raise taxes while they do it. It doesnt have to be that wayl.

  47. They are poor. The need to call it what it is. America can't sustain itself the way it is. There are too many workers and not enough jobs. Labour is under paid but there is more demand to allow more workers in...This family needs to swallow their pride and go to the food bank. As soon as it's back to normal. They both need to look for jobs, support each other , and look for a wider support group

Places have shut down and places life Nevada have gone form 4% unemployment to 25%. The family highlighted wants to work... yet they are not

I would suggest that it is better to have a home and work at a "lesser job". Let's be honest here these people aren't CEOs. They are either on Social Assistance or working at an entry level job.
