  1. "flying trivializes the world" The world was never dangerous or difficult, it was just extremely annoying to navigate. Its gotten more annoying as time has gone by with denser mob packs and invisible walls everywhere. the no flying is so they can keep you grounded and running through a maze of invisible walls and mob packs, wasting more and more time.

  5. that advertisement is a bit misleading on the surface, unlike wow, the majority of people dont solely focus on the trinity of content (Dungeons, Raids, PvP) and have other interests. There is content for people who like dungeons, raids and to a lesser extent pvp. You can sit there and do normals then savage and get ready for ultimates. you can dungeon grind for tomestones, and you can engage in PvP, with a new pvp mode promised for Endwalker. They just know their audience and advertising Savage Raids wont get them excited.

  14. about the two stores. name one item on the WoW store that was ever available in game. ask the same question to any XIV player, and they would probably list at least half the content currently on the store/mogstation. most of what is being sold is old event items that were in game and replaced with new items. thats how events go, they have it up for one year, then refresh the event for the following year with more new items, then put the old ones on the mogstation for relatively cheap prices. you know wow players have been clamouring for a witches broom mount for Hallow's end for years, a permanent mount. XIV gave us one for a past halloween event. You can buy it for $16 off the mogstation. if you were here for that halloween, you got it for free with a quest completion, you werent, well you can still acquire it for some money. Thats how its always worked. Thats why most fans of XIV are fine with the shop. if you were here from 2.0 and forward, and didnt stop subbing, you pretty much have most of the mogstation in your inventory without a single extra penny spent. Can you say the same about the WoW Cash shop?

  16. A player will always... ALWAYS take the path of least resistance. No matter age, gender, skill level. If they can get away with pulling trash, trapping them, kill boss and leave for the most rewards per minute, they will do it. This is why, if the dungeon gives good rewards or quest items, always put them on the last boss or shit like brayflox hard will inevitably happen.

  24.  @Avalked  yeah the Wandering Minstrel is his self insert and there were a couple of Rising events where you actually met Yoshi P the person in the space between worlds where he broke the fourth wall and thanked you the warrior of light and player for the continued support through the years.

  25.  @BooguyTheAdept  the only real difference is the diamonds are filled in instead of hollowed out. its such a minor thing but it stops people with a severe phobia from freaking the fuck out. personally I dont like either of them, and would prefer the icon to just be a single "knife laser". wont be as stylized but at least it would be easy to tell what job it is. but thats just me.

In XIV, not every single NPC drools on you and lavishes you with praise the moment they meet you. Though they do acknowledge your accomplishments like slaying primals.

  31. Blizzard has been in an arms race with addon creators for so long, its simply become complexity for complexities sake. Its like having a door with every conceivable lock to combat every conceivable type of intruder, its good in theory but when you have to leave or come home its a massive chore just to get through the door. After a few years you get a knack for speed running the lock opening, but now imagine you need someone to house sit, and they have to constantly lock and unlock this massive cavalcade of locks to enter and exit your place. They definitely wont be volunteering to house sit for you again. This is an easy fix but its a fix that wont happen simply because the addon culture is so ingrained in the player base, you wont be able to cut it off without massive backlash. So you end up just slowly bleeding out from an easily treatable wound.

  33. started WoW in patch 1.9 and played all the way until BFA, the systems finally broke me. I alternated between XIV and WoW, but BFA was just enough. I wasnt playing the game, it ended up I was just playing the systems. Thats when I went to XIV full time.

  41. you are still surviving on copium, Microsoft is no different than Activision. they may give a positive face in the beginning to con you into thinking things have changed but so does Blizzard if theres enough pushback. Then it goes into business as usual. its all a facade. I expect a lot of the smaller teams at Blizzard being terminated and the employees going to other teams if not outright fired.

  45. the issue with the running animation is that WoW doesnt give you the impression your character has any weight to them, you can turn on a dime and feel as though no momentum has been lost, its all rather floaty at times. While XIV, the character animation makes it look as though your character has weight to it and that momentum was lost when you come to sudden stop and turns to run in the opposite direction, and even have a psuedo-stumble when coming to a complete stop. neither games actually limit your speed when running, its just the animation in one gives you the experience through its animation while the other your character is simply a rag doll that can be thrown in whatever direction it wishes with zero consequences. its like large mounts in both games, they give the impression of slow and lumbering with their larger bodies and wider strides, but in reality they go just as fast as any other mount. its all impression.

  48. dude lost me at "If we look back at the success of vanilla wow.." yes lets look at a point in wow history where barely anyone in the game knew what a raid was. the game wasnt successful because of a creative raid cadence, it was due to it being a casual alternative to other sweaty MMOs. people always seem to learn the wrong lessons from the past or try to bend it to whatever narrative they are trying to spin.

  49. I think Blizzard should look at relics from XIV, like Shadowbringers, certain portions of the chain are one and done steps. You do them once and then you no longer have to do them when farming out a second relic. they could do legendary quest chains for gear and have some portions be account wide, to streamline second/third/etc legendarys on alts.
