  1. pay to win mechanics are pretty easy to spot, its the pay for convenience mechanics that are truly insidious. all the developer has to do is make things just inconvenient enough to incentivize you to fork over some cash to get over it. also most are far more lenient on their dissatisfaction of PfC mechanics.

  11.  @MeldinX2  its because the definition is so varied you cant really take any argument against XIVs enforcement seriously. Some people act like just being slightly mean to people will get you banned when they hear someone else say they were banned for it when in reality the person was probably throwing curse words at people or slipping in racial slurs as they tore into someone. Ive seen that in WoW quite frequently and that behaviour is not tolerated. Ive dressed people down in chat before, and Ive pointed out mistakes people have made, but Im not a massive tool about it. I treat people with common courtesy and like a human being. Thats the main thing about the positivity in XIV. In Final Fantasy, people treat fellow people like humans, in WoW, people are treated like disposable tools for a players personal advancement. This goes a long way in how nice or horrible you treat someone. If anyone says they arent comforable "shittalking" people for fear of being banned, odds are its not friendly ribbing they are talking about but (as an example) calling people filthy n-words and hoping they die of cancer, every time they make a mistake. Again, I have seen someone say that in WoW.

  12. Their investor narrative game is real strong. I suppose thats good, maybe they could pull some of the writers from the investor narrative team and put them on the game narrative team. maybe we can turn this franchise around.

  23.  @BroadwayRonMexico  it makes sense that its mostly WoW refugees getting upset because its PTSD in effect. though there are naysayers who try to use this as ammunition in their "critique" of the game so they can shout down and positive feedback. the mogstation has been a hot button topic for their erroneous claims, while knowing next to nothing about it, they just assume its the same as the wow shit store.

  35.  @josejuanandrade4439  whenever someone uses the Mogstation as a comparison, I ask WoW players, look at the cash shop and tell me how many of the things for sale were ever available in game. then I ask FFXIV players, look at the mog station and tell me how many of the things for sale were ever available in game. I will bet dollars to donuts that it will be an overwhelmingly one sided number comparison that wont be in favor of WoW.

  41. half the raid night is expended with just running back, rebuffing and re-eating but thats game time being used. Im genuinely surprised they havent overturned the idea that raid CDs reset after wipes. thats another 10-15 minutes of players subscriptions that could be wasted.

  44. they drop an expansion with a system, in *.1 they add a system to be played with the old system, *.2 they make a new system that invalidates the first system but augments the second system, *.3 they add a new system that invalidates all other systems. next expansion invalidates everything while adding a new system.
