  1. I think it is safe to say the DA Jason Williams works for the criminals, not the public and it's safety. When will the city finally realize that Williams is a complete misfit for this position and toss him. Isn't he and his partner also being tried for tax fraud??? What gives here? A criminal is running the DA's office, that is why crime is spiking.

This is the reason crime is out of control, New Orleans is the murder capital, and juveniles are committing crimes at earlier ages than years ago...because we as a society are catering to criminals and neglecting the damage they do to their victims.   4. If we would hold parents accountable for their children's actions, this would not be happening as often. If a kid steals a car, child and both parents go to jail...no questions asked. Same for stealing groceries.

  7. If police and DA were able to control the crime in the city, citizens would not need to take the law into their own hands. Hopefully, the courts will drop the case against this victim of crime, if not the criminals will have an even bigger advantage. Citizens should be able to protect themselves and their property without concern for legal repercussions...the police are not doing the job, so who is protecting the public from the thugs???

  9. I recall a few months ago Mayor said New Orleans did not have crime problem...what has changed? Seems to me that when the leadership of the city is in denial, then she is the problem. She is a wrecking ball, she wrecked the city's infrastructure by not having correct management over construction projects; she wrecked her reputation by standing with and supporting a convicted teenage carjacker, IN COURT, and ignored the victims; she wrecked a marriage by having an affair with her assigned NOPD security officer, in the city owned apartment in the French Quarter; she has wrecked the city's trust in her, as she is possibly facing a recall; and she continues to wreck the future if this city by ignoring the facts and avoiding the problems...instead she plans to coast the rest of her term, enjoying spending the city's money on luxury vacations and perks, while under the protection of her title as mayor, and surrounded by security...immune from the crime and violence that the rest of the citizens of the city face every day.

I hope there is an investigation into all her spending, and if anything is out of line, they hook her like they did Nagin. The guy probably thought he was tough and was aggressive to Nate, and Diaz just finished it and laid the guy down to rest...he could have done much worse. Look at what Alvin Kamara did with his thug buddies in Las Vegas last year..could have been like that, but Nate took the high road.

So should we assume that since this man owns a PJ's franchise, he is not allowed to have his own opinion of how thing should be? Does he now need to vote the way PJ's Coffee tells him to? Her attitude of entitlement has caused most of the damage she is facing from the public.   29. It's pretty clear that NOPD has lost complete control of the city. Jefferson, St. Tammany, St. Bernard parishes do not tolerate this type of lawlessness. If someone jumped on a police cruiser in any other city, their butt would be in lockup facing numerous charges (creating a disturbance, destruction of property, battery on police officer...). In New Orleans, cops are afraid to arrest anyone, as they may have charges brought against them, possibly lose their jobs, or even worse...be shot at. It is time to bring in National Guard and have them take over law enforcement in NOLA.

  43. High on drugs, resisting officer's orders, points gun at officer = Death Penalty. Based on body camera video and store camera video, JP Officer's did an excellent job at trying to deescalate the situation, but suspect refused to comply and became aggressive, drew a weapon, and fired a round...recipe for disaster. Sorry for his family, but police officers have a right to go home to their loved ones also.

  46. If officer was "under attack" he should have responded by drawing his weapon and firing at the threat. The problem is in NOPD, that officers are either constrained by what actions they can take in a situation (Consent Decree), or they just don't care anymore because they feel defeated by the judicial system. When you see the revolving door of the criminal justice system putting recently arrested thugs back on the street within a few hours, it makes it less motivating for officers to want to arrest criminals...knowing that they will be right back on the street in a few hours, or days...why risk your life to only see it wasted.
