Maybe the mayor should take a pay cut...she shut down the economy for the city, so it's only fair that she start taking some losses on her income as well. Hopefully, the people of the city feel the same when her reelection day comes around...change in leadership is definitely needed here.

Thank you for your service, congrats on your retirement, now relax and enjoy your time.

The new DA will mostly not prosecute these thieves, so the criminals know its a free ride. People need to start taking action against these crimes, because justice system is not going to. We are reverting back to wild wild west. Protect yourself, your family, and your property...Shoot first, then ask questions.
2
This thug has been in and out of the system since his age of majority...how about we serve justice while he is in custody...maybe he has an unfortunate "fatal accident" while in lockup awaiting trial.
2
One down, now one to go. Mayor Teedy should step down before her recall is completed. She needs to go because she already checked out.
2
Nice that Ferguson came clean about misreporting the incident, but truth is that NOPD is riddled with corruption and lies. These problems are historical in the city politics as well as law enforcement, and will take a complete overhaul of the entire system in order to get it straight.
2
Not surprised...this is not really news. There is a recall campaign against her, so that pretty much speaks volumes. Mayor is just coasting because she is term limited and just trying to enrich herself as much as possible before she has to go. New Orleans residents should sign the recall petition and get this useless slug out before she buries the city.

RIP officer Arnold

So, is the DA on a non-paid leave of absence while he defends his crimes, or is the tax payers still paying him as if he is supposedly on the clock doing the job he was elected to do? In reality, he has not done his job thus far, so I guess it is a moot point.
2
Anytime Mayor Teedy says anything, she digs herself deeper into a hole. Trade out her wig with an orange one and we would have a SheTrump.
2
Mayor's real response is "Her Safety is her #1 priority" ...next to wasting taxpayers $$$ on frivolous trips/parties and BS programs that pad the pockets of her friends and relatives. Citizens of New Orleans re-elected this fool. What is really more embarrassing for the city? 1) Having the highest crime rate in the country per capita, or 2) the fact that citizens allowed a useless baffoon to sit in mayors seat for another term, knowing that she was incompetent based on her 1st term in same office???
2
@zachhill7121 Maybe he will claim PTSD...this time of year is tough for most military.
2
Pretty much called this from start...this guy's attorney is calling out PTSD as main defense, and say's his client was actually on his way to VA when he lost control. As a veteran myself, I'm sympathetic to these issues, but not a get out of jail free card. Accountability is still a must.
2
If you draw a weapon in a fight, you better be prepared to use it. So if this guy drew his weapon on the store owner, and then owner shot in defense, it is justified. This city is becoming like the wild west, more of these incidents will be happening because citizens are tired of being victims and waiting for delayed police response. Self Defense is best defense.
2
They should throw him in a cell with some older dudes that been locked up for a while...and toss in a few bottles of Viagra. Turn the lights out &&& Let the punishment fit the crime.
2
In due time…feds are building the cases now. Teedy knows dark days are coming, and house of cards are about to fall.
2
Criminals protect each other... hopefully the skeletons in her closet come out soon so the investigations on her stick. This mayor is the biggest clown the city has seen yet.
2
"Since We are not in a flood zone, We did not have flood insurance"...FYI...ALL of south Louisiana is a Flood Zone. Whether it is declared a flood zone or not, Flood Insurance is always advised in South Louisiana.
2
The NOLatoya recall committee should make an appearance at that special council meeting and get some more signatures. The only way to fix the crime problem is to get rid of the she thug mayor in charge of the show.
2
They say it was NO East, but sounds like the Wild West to me. These shootings are becoming all too frequent...such a sad reality.
2
She is term limited for NO Mayor...that is why she is galavanting around. She has nothing to lose, and anywhere she goes is safer than the city she is in charge of.
2
JP now has bodycam...and looks like parking area may also have cameras. Videos should help clear up any questionable activity.
2
So the Hard Rock falls down before it is completed, and this hazardous old building, which is falling down, cannot be demolished...backassward city and government. Building owners should be held accountable for their properties, but unfortunately, they grease the politicians in charge and get a pass when their properties become a problem.
2
Wait...I thought the Mayor's youth program was a success. So her approach of reducing, or eliminating, incarceration for these types of crimes is actually causing an increase in carjackings and other violent crimes by juveniles...go figure. How about we charge these juveniles as adults, and send them to big boy and girl jail, because this liberal approach is not working.
2
Mayor Destroya has completely lost control of this city. Tourists getting shot while trying to eat a meal at a legendary restaurant, server gets shot and killed at same restaurant, Starbucks worker gets assaulted while doing a job by some crackhead who gets crazy in the store, people getting carjacked everyday and shot at every night. All while she is neglecting her duties as mayor and instead, spends all her time screwing around with a NOPD officer in the city owned french quarter condo. Unfortunate that recall was a failure, now she is going to run the city into the ground for next 2 years.
2
New Orleans is usually an initial target for any storm that goes in Gulf, then it ends up hitting elsewhere...it is part of the media hype. Get people nervous, they go out and fill up gas, buy supplies, etc, then it ends up going somewhere else, or downgrades to heavy rain event only. If you look at the activity last year, it will all make sense...i think 7 or 8 storms were initially targeting NO, and only one actually hit there.
2
Follow the money...most of the leaders of "Non-Profit Organizations" are making big profit in income and other fringe benefits. They are not using the funds for the intended charitable causes, they are padding their pockets and living large. If they dig deep enough, they will probably find that Cantrell is receiving some payback too.
2
FYI...state is not making much money from New Orleans. It's all tourism tax $$$...no tourism, no money. It's counterintuitive to believe that the state is freezing money on potential investments that would increase tourism dollars...IMO the state is concerned about WHO is in control of WHERE those revenues are derived...Hence Mayor Lock It Down Latoya.
2
We have come to expect that most of our politicians are either criminals, or soon to be … but now we need to add pedophile to that growing concern. Very sad that our government has evolved into this state.
2
Yesterday's news..."20ft storm surge...unsurvivable conditions". But a few hours later streets are drivable and people walking around. Media, government, and weather forecasters are BS artists. People need to start thinking for themselves...don't be the sheep they want us to be.
2
Does the mayor watch these stories? Probably not, which is why everyone should sign recall petition. NOLA needs new leadership ASAP.
2
Thinks he contracted it during Mardi Gras...not surprised. That is when city and state should have addressed this. If they would have taken action then instead of worrying about the financial impact of missing out on Mardi Gras revenue, we most likely would not be where we are in the curve (ahead of most of the country). In NOLA, it is always money over safety...look at Hard Rock, we still have bodies in that collapsed building, now over 7 months after it crashed down. Great leadership we have here...keep up the great work.
2
New Orleans tradition...politicians entitlement syndrome. Mayor doesn't pay property taxes, and councilman at large Williams doesn't pay income taxes, another councilman gets a DUI in a city owned vehicle, almost killing other driver. Great leaders we have here, leading us by example.
2
NOPD does not respond to murders, so you should not be surprised that they do not respond to rapes or other violent crimes. But, according to Mayor Aunt Jemima, crime is under control and NOPD is one of the top police departments in the country.
2
New Orleans has the highest taxes in the state, but you cannot drive down any of the streets without a raised 4x4 vehicle… where does all of the city’s tax revenue go. High crime, 3rd world infrastructure, homeless living all over the city’s public spaces. Is the money the only thing that freely drains out of the city?
2
Get over the race issue...this is an ethical issue. If someone cannot manage their personal financial affairs, then it brings doubt as to them being able to manage public finances. It is not black, white, brown, male or female...it is about being responsible enough to take care of all business.
2
@teeynggod2168 Keep this in mind...The race card eventually declines in value when it is continuously used as an excuse for lack of responsibility and accountability.
2
Mayor Aunt Jemima is going to bankrupt the city while she is on her power trip. No sales = no tax $$$...All the surrounding parishes are benefiting from her incompetence. Jefferson, St. Bernard, and St. Tammany are following state guidelines, while New Orleans stays in lockdown watching surrounding areas open up.
2
Follow the money...bet the previous Mayor, Bennie Zahn, had some kind of connection with the mobile restroom vendor. That is usually how these pass throughs work.
2
Got to love how city leaders dodge the real questions... the reason there is such failures in city government is because there is rampant lack of accountability, from the mayor all the way down the chain.
2
Hate to say it, but anyone who lives in South Louisiana, should carry flood insurance. Year after year, this area sees floods, hurricanes, and train rain events...anyone who does not have flood insurance is foolish. Unless your house floats, it is prone to flooding...no exceptions.
2
Let's not jump to conclusions...if Cantrell is reelected as Mayor, Superdome may still be off limits then. Currently, even with the lowest Covid test rates in the state, she has continued to keep the city closed for business, while rest of the state has started to open back up. Saints are already talking about playing at Tiger Stadium now, since she has dome closed to public and fans.
2
We need more of this...it's a shame the other 2 fools didn't die. Police and criminal justice system cannot seem to keep crime down, so maybe Karma will step in do the job.
2
According to Mayor, city is safe, and crime is not at an historical level. She is Blind and Dumb. Current situation is skeleton crew in police department, city administration has no control, new sheriff has no idea what she is doing, and progressive DA does not want to prosecute crime. We call that ingredients for Crime Jambalaya. Wake up New Orleans.
2
They are already lifted for a certain few (Queen Latoya and her entourage). COVID should not be the main concern in New Orleans...Murder rate is rapidly increasing with no real solution. Last time I checked, masks are not as good as bullet proof vests. Maybe they should be passing those out at parades.
2
Did Jeffrey Vappie, her former booty guard, join her on this trip?
2
No justice in Judicial system. Criminals have more rights than victims in this country.
2
Can't trust the Archdiocese...they probably knew this sicko molested young boys and swept it under the rug like the rest of the religious leaders that did same thing. I'm sure more priests and former ones will be found guilty of same crime in future, hence why the filed for bankruptcy...protrcting their funds from current and future lawsuits.
2
@BGTravelFoodieTV Believe what you want, whatever words were exchanged is irrelevant, he is the one that began exchanging bullets...he even fired a shot a Airline Drive...WTF. Who on Airline said anything to him?
2
Couldn't cut it as a broadcaster, so now wants to get back to playing football. Stay retired, the rest of NFL has moved on and so should he.
