  2. Ukraine got limited resources so they need to focus those on the black sea. Russias ability to transfer ships into the black sea is also limited as they cannot move big warships through the Bosporus as Turkey does not allow it. So the only way for russia to move ships from other parts of the country is through some network of canals within the country, but those only allows small ships to move through.

  4. One of the most important strategic places for Russia to defend is Kaliningrad. So if Russia truely was worried about a western intervention would they never keep this important position unguarded. But that is what they have done now. The entire Kaliningrad brigade has been sent to Ukraine, and was later on almost completly wiped out. So if Russia does that then I suspect it can could be because of either two reasons: 1. They are desperate. 2. They do not believe that Nato ever will intervene (because of nuclear weapons) so they dare to move troops to Ukraine instead. And their rethoric about Nato being a threat that wants to invade and destroy Russia is just that - lies, and bullsh*t rethoric that the leaders in Moscow do not believe in themselves, because otherwise would they have never allowed Kaliningrad to be kept weak and almost undefended. So Russia is an empire built on lies and dishonesty.

Their silly idea to cling on to Khersun for an extra few months were done only because they hoped that the Republicans would win the mid-term elections in the USA. You can be an arab dictator and only say 20-25% of the people support you, while say 50% are neutral or apathic towards your rule. Your enemies could even be more numerous than your supporters, but even if say 30% of the population hates you will they still be a minority. The overall population of your supporters and your passive obedient followers and cowardly sheep will follow the will of your brutal regime just so themselves do not get into trouble... and togheter will those people make up say 70-75% of the population and enable you to opress the 30% of your population that makes up your opposition. I guess tha most dictatorships are like this. So once this neutral obedient worthless blod lose faith in the system and no longer blindly obey authority, then can the regime collapse very quickly - like what happened to Gaddafi.

China can murder and enslave Uighurs and throw them into concentration camps, but do the muslim world care? Nope. Not one bit. You do not see flag burnings, condemnation of China by muslim countries and such. Those kinds of things are something you do when some muslim immigrant burns a Quran in Sweden. Because burning a book is a worse crime than murdering and opressing thousands of muslim brethren in China. This is how I interpret the actions of the muslim community.

  11. I doubt that. For many reasons. 1. Russia military expenses are larger are currently larger than the state income. And the Russian states savings are running out. 2. Russia is running out of artillery shells and gun barrels. Russia is now deploying T-55 and T-54 tanks and WW2 Howitzers to be used as artillery in Ukraine. Most likely because they have runned out of modern artillery pieces. And old and rusty artillery ammunition is being put to use and ammunition have been imported from North Korea which suggests that todays levels of artillery consumption is unsubstainable. 3. Russia is running low on missiles. Russia is firing anti-ship missiles and S-300 anti-aircraft missiles against Ukrainian housing because they lack cruise missiles. And the few cruise missiles they fire have all been manufactured recently - which will indicate that russia have runned out of all their old missiles in storage. 4. Russias manpower losses is so severe that they cannot be easily replaced. 200k men dead and 400k wounded are losses too heavy to replace. To replace so many losses will you have to do a full mobilization - which is unpopular and risky for Putin in an election year. And to make matters worse are the men poorly trained, equipped and motivated. Ukraines military have of course also suffered painful losses, but the men have a good reason to fight, and the west can provide their troops with at least some training even if the Ukrainian army would take the same heavy losses as the russian professional army did in 2022. Furthermore is there a potential for Ukrainian troops to out do the russians in quality equipmen - which we already see in for example nightvision and better medical care. 5. Ukraine will soon getting long-range missiles they have waited for, such as ATACMS will could be a game changer allowing Ukraine to not just destroy the Kerch bridge but also severly destroy russian logistics in any proximity to the battelfield, and thus destroying russias ability to fight well in a coordinated way. Add to that a few hundred stormshadow missiles. And on top of that also Turkish long range rocket artillery and you will have some good long range capabilities of the Ukrainian military. And aircraft and small diameter bombs will the HIMARS style problems only getting worse for Russia. The few extra Norwegian M270 launchers with twice as much fire power as HIMARS will mean that now will an equal amount to a dozen extra HIMARS rain down death and destruction of russian forces each day. Ukraine is also getting more tanks sent to it. Not just from Spain, Denmark and the Netherlands... but there will also probably be more future surprises as Switzerland and Israel provide tanks to western allies, which in turn will free up other tanks to be sent to Ukraine. So the clock is not ticking in Russias favor. The russian defensive line may hold for a few weeks more, and not unlikely a few months more... but things are not going well for russia. Would russia stumble upon common sense would it try to cut its losses and pull out from this war. Save the money, equipment and russian lives for another day instead of destroying all what is left of the russian military on this stupid war.

People in Donetsk and Luhansk and in russian prisoners were beaten and tortured to signing up to fight in Ukraine. But even these maffia methods could not compensate for the incompetence and wasteful spending of human lives by the Russian military. So the next step was to kidnap homeless beggars in Moscow and illegal immigrants and force them to fight. And when the game was up have attempts of a stealthy mobilization been made in rural Russia. Buryats and other ethnic minorities are choosen as cannon fodder in the first hand, while rich kids in Moscow and St Petersburg are spared to the last. Putin tries to keep this circus going for as long as possible without conscripting the sons of his own ministers and rich friends. Because when that day come when they are forced out to fight, then will people revolt against Putin and instantly end the war. So yea, Russia is a hypocritical society. They love this war as long as someone elses children has to fight and die in it.

I have never heard of any Leopard 1 tanks fighting in Ukraine. So I guess that is just fake new rumours. There are of course some Gepard tanks built on a Leopard1 chassi, but that is a completly other type of vehicle. But journalists are usually to stupid and ignorant to know the difference between a Gepard and a Leopard1 tank. The first is a mobile anti-aircraft gun, and the latter is a tank. Or perhaps I should call it a glass gun tank destroyer like M18 Hellcat - because it have good mobility, a good gun.. but its armor is paper thin crap that will not stop anything larger than a rifle bullet. I am sure that the Ukrainians are grateful even if all they get is old Leopard 1 tanks with obsolete 105mm guns and paper thin armor. I wish we swedes never had scrapped our old stridsvagn 103, but instead given them all to ukraine. Those are of course junk compared to Leopard 2, but against T-62 could they still be useful.

Zelensky offered him anything except land in exchange for peace, but Putin declined because he wanted to conquer Ukrainian land. Nato or no Nato is totally uninteresting to him. Nor does Putin care about nazis, as one of his best buddies - the chief of the Wagner group himself is a neonazi with the body filled with nazi tattoos. De-satanization and other such nonsense is just baseless accusation to throw mud on the Ukrainian government, just like the silly Russian claim that Ukraine is runned by neo-nazis that kills russian speaking Ukrainians - while Zelensky himself is a jew who got most of his grandparents killed by the nazis. And Zelensky himself is also a russian speaking Ukrainian. So everything is just russian lies and nonsense. Putin have so far made it more and more clear that Russias talk about nuclear weapons is just a tactic to scare western countries to stop them from sending weapons to Ukraine. Had Russia been serious about using nukes, then we should have already seen the signs by now. But Putin never dares to use them. He will never dare using them until that day he feels sure that there is a strong chance that Russia could win a nuclear war with the west. So it is not any moral concerns that prevents him from using them. He would not sleep bad at night after killing 800 million innocent Europeans and North Americans in a nuclear strike if he could get away with it with no retaliation from the west.

  21. It could also be that the Russian losses have been understated even by the Ukrainians. When you fire an AT4 into a BTR80 and burn everyone inside alive... then it is impossible for you standing outside to know how many people are dead inside. And the same is of course true for T-72 tanks and BMP1 and so on. Secondly, if you make a HIMARS strike against a building behind enemy lines it is impossible to know how many dead bodies lay under the rubble - it could be 10 times more than you anticipated. And thirdly, with all stupid suicidal human wave attacks with massive losses of over a thousand men per day do the Russian soldiers die at such a fast rate that it is impossible keep up with updating the statistics and calculations.. so it is possible that russian losses have been understated by many hundreds of men per day during the most intensive weeks of russian assaults. So of all sources, Russia, Nato, Oryx and such.. do I still believe that the Ukrainian numbers are the ones that are closest to the truth. At least when it comes to dead soldiers and destroyed tanks. But I am not so impressed by the Ukrainian claims on warships. They have claimed to have sunken the warship Makarov twice now, but I am not even sure if that is true this time around.

  24. I think that the EU + USA should have a talk with Zelensky and say that Ukraine can offer lifted sanction to Russia as a carrot in exchange for reasonable peace terms. That would probably strongly improve Ukraines position of negotiating peace. And it would offer some unity and coordination in dealing with Russia. Sanctions will punish Russia if the refuse to give Zelensky reasonable peace terms. And it will be a reward and a carrot to Russia to do the right thing. If Russia gives back all stolen land, free all kidnapped Ukrainians, hand over their worst war criminals and agree to some war reparations then will a new humiliated post-Putin regime at least be able to show some benefits from a peace deal. The stranglehold on the Russian economy will be lifted and give russians some hope of a better future... altough that journey will be a very long walk.

  27. Option no.2 seems more likely. Voter turnout is high in USA, and many have already made up their mind and mailed their vote. These are signs that Trump is going to lose the election. Remember that the Democrats biggest problem historically has been a low voter turnout, but since so many people have voted already in record numbers it seems like things are going really bad for Trump no matter what his fake polls say. And we should also remember what happened the last election which he fraudulently called stolen. What really happened was that votes that had been dropped the same day as the election was counted first and Trump won those. But later during the night did they begin to count votes that people had made many days before the election day, and those were usually votes made by voters who already had decided long ago how they would vote. And most of those votes were democrats, and Trumps huge lead got completly wiped out. And the same is likely to happen now. Biden might provide more weapons to Ukraine as the year reach an end. Then will fighter jets from the west arrive. All those promised F-16 fighters and a few promised Mirage. Later on will the massivly powerful Gripen also arrive. Artillery shell production will continue to increase and begin to outphase that of russia. And meanwhile will russias economy start to tank, they are already running low on tanks and armored vehicles. They will also run low on artillery shells. And less than 30% of the russian people do support the war today, and that number will likely only fall even further as russian losses grows greater than ever before (when they have to fight with older more worthless weapons and without tanks and artillery). And as the economy is going down the toilet. Germanys christian democrat government have promised to keep on supporting Ukraine. And even if AFD would make a strong performance in the next election would it likely not be enough to stop Germany from helping Ukraine compeltely as other EU countries will push and demand that Germany must do more. I think that all the west needs to do is to hold out. Provide Ukraine with artillery munition in as large amounts as possible. The sanctions and the high equipment losses are ripping russias wareffort apart.

  29. Ukraine is probably not prepared to get victory at any cost. Many good Ukrainian men have died. Who knows how many? At some point is enough enough, but I think this war will end sooner. Perhaps instead because Russia gives up. I think it is becoming less likely that the west will give up so easy now. The west have invested so much in Ukraine now, that money will be wasted if Ukraine is allowed to die. So the west will be forced to continue to ship aid to Ukraine until they can get an acceptable peace. There is also now a risk that EU falls apart if Putin is able to divide the EU enough. I believe many EU leaders see that risk and therefore tries to get through compromises that everyone can live with, altough they might feel very distasteful for many countries.

  31.  @roseblue3368  If you make all your strategic bombings from only two airbases, and launch all your Tupulev 95 bombers from there to make terror bombings on Ukraine... then I do at least expect you to have some powerful air defences around those bases. How hard can it be? Its not like Russia is not obsessed with weapons and lacks pieces to cover only two bases. This raid did however come as a chock to them. Now they have to spread out their strategic bombers on many airfields around Russia to minimize the risk that this could happen again. Thew were lucky that the damage was not even worse this time around. But next time they might not be so lucky... Putting all eggs in the same basket is a stupid strategy when you buy stocks on the stock market - because if something bad happens, you will lose everything you have. And the same is true here. Why do you put all your strategic bombers in one place? And if you do out of convenience and for increased effectivness in your attacks, then I think you should at least put good air defences around that area. Furthermore do I wonder why no anti-aircraft systems reacted along the Ukrainian border.

Not just because you wanna steal land from a poor country, but also because you must have those big planes ready in case your country gets dragged into a full scale war with USA or China and might need nuclear bombs. Doesn't it now make sense that you for national security reasons give air defence of that spot top priority? And your comparison of apples and oranges is also halting. Stopping a missile from striking a target near the border is more difficult than what it is to stop a drone that is flying 600km into Russian territory. There was a long distance where one could detect that missile in good time, and then prepare counter-measures to take it down. It was after all an ancient drone, and not a top modern hypersonic missile that is much harder to intercept.

They were bullying any anti-war protestor and calling them "anti-american", and if you protested the government for any reason - even for things that did not have to do with the Iraq war, you could get labeled as "anti-american" or "unpatriotic" and lose your job as a school teacher. This was what USA was like in the years 2003-2006. The American people even voted for the fascist idiot George W Bush to become president for 4 more years after all the evil shit that he had done. He had jacked up USAs national debt with trillions. He had started a war that killed 600.000 innocent Iraqis. He was the first president in US history that never used a veto to block a government project to keep government spending down - and unsurprinsingly did he spend more dollars than all other presidents before him had done combined! He was wasteful with money. He was bloodthirsty. And one American rightwing politician suggested that Arabia should be nuked and that the sand should turn into heat from the nuclear bomb. And on TV you could see Fox news pumping out lies and pro-war propaganda nonstop, and rightwing media personalities like Ann Coulter who strongly supported "The war on terror" in Arabia and the middle east delievered the following statement: "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity." I think that quote well sum up the worldview that almost all Republicans had back then. Not just Bush and his government was pro-war, but so was also the rightwing media such as Bill O'reilly, Ann Coulter, Ben Shapiro, and others. And the opposition were silent and afraid to say a single word. But then this all came to an end. The fall of the Republican party government did come. But it did not come because of the Iraq war. Nope. People were upset about things in their own home country instead. They were angry about the governments handeling of the hurricane Katrina and the devestation it had brought to New Orleans. Finally was someone allowed to criticise Bush's government. And that led to the fall in popularity for the Republican party. And that did allow for the democrats to win the next election. And in 2008 did the financial crisis come and people were tired of all wars and Obama promised to fix those things

  40. Seems like the ambitions of Russia has been lowered. Taking Ukraine is out of question. Keeping a few provinces of stolen land to save face and not be seen as a loser is perhaps what they hope for now. They fortify the frontline with the new Wagner line. They retreat from Khersun and establish a new more easily defencible line behind the river. They use as much land mines as they can, and they shorten their supply line to Russia. Their new wortless reservist army is only good for defensive operations and the loss of the contractor army and the armored fist and self-propelled artillery makes the dream of offensive operations much harder. And the huge country and the crappy russian logistics have already made it known around the world that Russia is not capable of deep penetrations into Ukrainian territory without upcoming defeats. Russia will probably keep on hiding behind the Russian border like cowards and the russian airforce is incapable of any deep thrusts into Ukraine anyways. So this new tactic is therefore believed to suit russia better.

Nu kunde däremot missiler färdas otroligt långa sträckor - längre än vad den största kanonen på ett slagskepp kunde skjuta - och missilen kunde orsaka massiv skada och sänka det mäktigaste slagskeppet i världen med bara en träff. Pansarskydd har blivit helt värdelöst. Ett slagskepp på 60.000 ton är numera inte mycket mera värt än en liten missilbåt på några hundra ton. Stealth och snabbhet ger bättre skydd och överlevnad än 2 meter stålplåt. Vill man så kan man så klart se historiska paralleller till tidigare i historien som till 1700-talet när den stora mäktiga svenska flottan tappade kontrollen över Östersjön till den ryska flottan som massproducerade billiga fartyg av lågkvalitéts träd. Ryssarna byggde i rask takt mer än hundra galärer som med sina åror snabbt och lätt kunde röra sig på grunda vatten där de stora kraftfulla svenska segelfartygen med sina hundratals kanoner inte kunde röra sig utan fastna. Sverige var totalt oförberett för denna nya typ av krigföring. Stora slagskeppens tid i Östersjön tog slut, och istället blev det bättre att ha många små snabba fartyg istället.

  42. Tell me a credible source for Ukrainian losses. Because there are none. Except for Zelenskys speech last summer when he said that 200 men per day were lost when Russian artillery bombardment was most intense. But what losses are now is unknown. Russian numbers cannot be trusted about anything because they are lying about everything. Their fantasy world statistics claims to have destroyed advanced western weapons that Ukraine does not yet possess, and they claim to have 200% of the Ukrainian air force and artillery and tank force. So everything a Russian says is dogsh*t. That leave us with only western sources at our disposal. And they have no interest in presenting the real numbers of Ukrainian losses. And even if they say would be truthful and present a very low number of losses - then would people (including myself) still probably not believe them, even if they were speaking the truth.

  44. Its our way or the highway. What is there really anything we can or should compromise about? If someone breaks into your house, kills your dog and destroy paintings and furniture, and then he claims ownership over your living room should you give that barbarian anything? I think not. He should go to jail. And if that is not possible, then he should be outright killed on the spot. I think it is good that we steal all frozen russian assets and give them to Ukraine as a form of war reparations. I also think that the west should give the green light to an Ukrainian invasion of Transnistria - that could remove the russian military force which prevents democracy in that country, and the land strip could be a bargening chip in a peace negotiation. And Yes I absolutly think that the west MUST humiliate Russia. That is the only way they will learn to make peace with their neighbours and stop trying wars of aggression against their neighbours. Right now they can always try a war against their neighbours since there are no downsides of trying and only upsides - If you win a war you expand your land, and if you lose you don't have to pay anything.. no land ceded, no war reparations, no war criminals punished... All this has to stop. Russia should not be above the law. And we should destroy their grandious megalomaniac self-image they have of being more than anyone else. They should be treated just like any other country period. So if Russia goes out from this war with their money stolen, and with no land gained but only land in Transnistria lost, and being an international paria, embaressed for its military failings that could not prevent a loss of territory.. and a destroyed economy and military.. then Russias self-image has to change. They have to realize that they are not Superpower anymore. And thats the end of it. Russias history is filled with losing war after war. The lost 10 times more soldiers than the Finns, and Finland was able to keep their independence... but in Russian propaganda is the Winter war and Continuation war not portraid as humiliating lost wars for Russia. Same goes with their pathetic failures against Nazi-Germany and enormous losses, and that their country was saved by lend-lease is totally left out in Russian history books. And that Russia lost 19 out of 20 battles against Sweden in the Great Northern War is also something Russia likes to forget and only talk about the battle of Poltava. So it is therefore time that we in this war leave no doubt which side is the loser, and which side is the winner. Russia must suck it up that they lose this war and get humiliated. They need to wake up. Wake up like dumb child who think he is a great hockey player and musician because his mom told he so... but now that stupid child needs to hear the painful truth and find a new hobby that he actually got some talent for. The Russian people is like this child with an unreaslistic worldview. From education and from media have they been taught that russia is a great military power that have never lost a war, and never started any unjustified wars and had any evil intentions and commited genocide. I think it is time that russians learn that their military sucks. And that they should get another hobby than militarism. Fix their own economy in their 3rd world country, instead of destroying other countries for example...

  45. I think wins have not translated into media attention. Journalists just ignores that Ukraine have won battle after battle in this war: Hostomel, Kyiv, Sumy, Sieversky Donetsk, Charkiv, Snake island, Khersun. Russia have lost their flagship and seen its entire admirality blown up by missile strikes. And still somehow do they repeat russian talking points that Ukraine is losing the war. So I take that for they are either being russian liars or ignorant clowns 🙄

  49. The East Bloc collapsed and the Cold war ended with people in Germany took to the streets and protested and the Berlin wall was torn down. And all regimes are weak and have to bow to the people. Hitler was very scared that the German people would rise up against his war, like the German people had protested against world war 1 in 1918. So he always listened to public opinion and tried to avoid a total mobilization for war of German society for as long as he could. Only in early 1943 was Germany mobilized for total war... and that was like 3 years after Britain, a year after USA, and one and a half year after Russia. So it was too little, too late to win the industrial war against the allies. And even if his brutal regime was capable of killing approximatly 12 million people in the holocaust, was this regime still pathetically powerless when it feared a backlash from public opinion. The protests at Rosenstrasse was a battle that protesters won against Hitlers regime that wanted to take away all jewish husbands from women in Berlin and deport them to Auschwitz to be gassed to death. So had the German people only protested more, its possible that the holocaust would never have happened. And also Communist China today are fearful of public protests. It had to bow down and abandon its zero-covid policy with its brutal consequences for ordinary people out of fear of backlash from protestors. And this protest was anti-Covid restrictiosn, but it also started to become anti-regime protests, and pro-democracy protests... and this scary development could not be crushed by brutal force alone. So the Chinese government quickly scrapped all Covid measures over a night, and Covid began to spread like a wildfire in China among a population which previously been totally unexposed to the disease and lacked the natural immunity which could be seen in other countries such as Sweden. And the result became an over-burdened healthcare system as hundreds of thousands catched Covid, and the shocks to the Chinese economy became severe. This was not what the Commie dictatorship regime had wished for, but this is what they got. And all this shows that public opinion matters. But then of course you need to break a threshold and have much willingness to fight among the population and a large part of the population must be against the regime. It didn't help that tens of millions of people protested against the Iraq war in 2003. Preferbly do I also think it helps if the population is armed, so that the police is fearful of using force to break up a protest. Or even fearful of trying to break up a protest peacefully.

  50. Not many western countries have the resources to fight off the nazi-russiann threat on their own. Which is why nazi-russia is an existential threat. But if the west combines their forces they can easily beat nazi-russia. Nazi-russia knows they have no chance against Nato, so in order to continue their aggressive ambitions they launch a hybride war against the west instead - with misinformation campaigns, hacker attacks, try to flood Polish and Finlands borders with refugees and they try to create as much chaos around the world as possible, while they are spreading lying anti-western propaganda. So yes nazi russia is the evil empire that is an existential threat to the west.
