  3. I believe it's more an economic concern. In a normal (read: not American normal) economy, tight extended families have an advantage due to guaranteed capital and lower expenses. Your average white American doesn't have that kind of familial safety net, so in an economy quickly becoming like that of the rest of the world they would probably want to seek one out.

The idea is that if you go far enough left you end up on the far right and if you go far enough right you end up on the far left. Ditto for libertarianism and authoritarianism. This would make each dimension a circle, and thus make the political compass not a plane but a sphere. Thoughts?
