When the police force of any community is allowed to become corrupt to their innermost core, de-funding and disbanding said police force is insufficient, it will simply continue as just another mobster gang - without uniforms. The members of that "police" force must be investigated and prosecuted for what they are: Corrupt Criminals! Some police forces even take the corruption to another level by allowing it's officers a license to kill any person of color they feel like. Unarmed, underage? No matter, being noticed by "white police officers" while being Black can actually turn out to be a death warrant. In Latin America, this kind of crazed killers were called Death Squads, but not in today's US America!

If you are AT ALL rational, you will realize that there is something seriously wrong in the State of Florida - and Texas and a host of other rabid-right states.   3. Did you notice that current NATO allies are already consolidating against Toddler Trump regarding his madcap Greenland/Canada/Panama takeover push? I'm afraid this is just the beginning of Toddler Trump's 'Murica shedding of allies that have been formed over the last 80 years. Who will the new allies be? Putin's collapsing Russia? Belarus? North Korea? China? China will never be a reliable ally, they are just waiting to gobble you up! In hindsight, it was remarkable how quickly a stable society like Germany was dismantled in the 1930s. Something similar seems to be happening to 'Murica. While we're at it, pause to recall the sticky end ALL of Hitler's henchmen eventually came to, once the German nation had been decimated and divided up, it's cities a rubble of ruins. A similar fate eventually awaits Trump's current and future henchmen.

While all other developed countries can provide various flavors of universal health care for 10-11% of their GDP, the US is spending over 17% of GDP on a health care system that leaves a sizeable chunk of the population in the cold and bankrupting others. This is nothing less than astounding! Is the US really such an underdeveloped country that it is unable copy what others have been doing for decades! The difference is that other countries do NOT allow middlemen (health insurance companies) to skim off vast profits. They ALSO force pharmaceutical companies to sell medicine with a reasonable profit, no rip-offs allowed.

One wonders at the potential change in attitude if every single young US citizen were to travel to some of the "socialist hellhole countries" like e.g. Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland or even to isolated Iceland to experience the "hellhole" conditions first-hand.   13. What is the difference between belittling someone and attacking someone? Pelosi is only belittling "the Squad", not outright attacking. Why? Pelosi is afraid, she sees the potential writing on the wall for herself and other corporate Democrats. Pelosi desperately wants to rein "the Squad" into the fold, to have them submit to the traditional methods of The Party subjugating new and unwanted members and having them toe the party line. I predict she is not only going to be unsuccessful in that, but there will be a lot more Justice Democrats and a lot fewer Corporate Democrats in both the House and the Senate after the 2020 election.

Considering all the issues the US needs to tackle according to Bernie's plans I feel fortunate to live in a country that enjoys 100% renewable energy except for transportation (cars, ships & planes) and emergency power (we do have occasional but temporary rural power outages due to crazy winter weathers in a sparsely populated country). We also have affordable health care, education and an acceptable social security net (despite our right-wing politicians pecking away at it all for decades). We spend NOTHING on war-making abilities (we have no military), which might be why we are able to afford it all... While I currently feel sorry for US American people given the mess their corrupt politicians have created during the last 40 years, I admire them for many of their achievements. Your best hope is one old man (Bernie) and those that will inherit the mess - your youth are voters of the future, and they will hopefully take over in time.

  17. Is it any wonder I am relieved that I am NOT an US American! I am safely born, raised and ensconced in one of the Nordic countries. My country has one of the highest per-capita diagnosed COVID-19 cases, but that is simply because we have been testing like crazy from day one. Today (March 27, 2020) we have tested around 4% of our entire population! We are NOT being caught flat-footed like the US.

  25. The label put on any given method of governance is meaningless. The results are what matters. The US has been running on unbridled capitalism for decades, at least since at least the Reagan era, and just look at the results. The USSR ran authoritarianism under the communist label, and just where did THAT end? North Europe, especially the Nordic countries, have been running under a rather misleading "social democracy" label. What they have is mixed economies, where capitalists have a lot of freedom while governments have taken care to rein them in to the extent that the general population is doing FAR better than the US population. The irony is that the US actually pioneered many, if not most of the ides Europe is using now. European countries have developed and evolved these ideas with varying success between nations, but the fact remains that European populations, especially in Norther Europe, are vastly better off than the population of the US.

The answer is YES! I am approaching my seventies, and I frequently catch myself bemoaning the inevitable generation gap. Do I think the problem lies with me or the young people? A bit of both, I guess. We oldies become staid and resist change, youngsters are often too impulsive and rush into changing things. The important issue is the fact that the future belongs to the younger generations. We oldies can try to advise, but we should also strive for the wisdom to know when to step out of the way and let young people get on with the future!

The fact that Trump might, in theory, be able to run for the US presidency from prison just goes to show how dysfunctional and unequal the US justice system actually is, seeing that people that have been in prison and served their time are not allowed to vote anymore!
